Firefox can not play Netflix, but can chrome.

I have Firefox installed 13.0.1 (also tried the beta version, 14 or what) and I can't play movies on Netflix. Silverlight is up to date, everything is up-to-date, but it does not work. It goes to this page that says:

"Finish the required system configuration".

To watch instantly, yougot to a computer that meets the following minimum requirements:

   Windows
Windows XP with Service Pack 2, Vista or Windows 7
Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher; or Firefox 3 or higher; or Chrome 7 or higher
       1.2 GHz processor
       512 MB RAM
   Mac
An Intel-based Mac with OS 10.4.11 or later
Safari 3 or higher; or Firefox 3 or higher; or Chrome 10 or higher
       1 GB RAM
   Chrome OS
A Google Chromebook with Chrome OS 13 or higher"

But if I open and try it in Google Chrome, it's fine. I'm on Windows 8 Preview Release, and it is a 64-bit system. Firefox is 32 bit, of course. I don't know what else I could try to get Netflix to work in Firefox. Chrome is very good, but Firefox is my default browser, and I wish I didn't have to spend every time just for Netflix.

Until taken netflix supported by Windows 8, the solution is lie. I must say that we are still using Windows 7 to netflix.

If you are not comfortable with the technical stuff, an easy way is to install this addon:

https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/masking-agent/?src=search

And in the field, he provides his screen option type in "Windows NT 6.1", less citations. This corresponds to Windows 7.

If you do not feel as still having an other addon installed, you can simply add the information directly in firefox.

Open a new tab and type in about: config. You will probably get a warning to about playing with the settings.

Once you right click and select new > string. For the name of the preference you want to type in "general.useragent.override", less citations.

So you want to type the value, which is the info that firefox tends more to the netflix server to be identified, mine is (at least this is what I'm saying netflix):

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0.1

It breaks down as follows:

Mozilla is basic info, 5.0 is the version of Mozilla.

Windows NT 6.1 is your version of windows (Windows NT 6.1 is Windows 7).

RV:13.0 is the version of the rendering engine Gecko used.

Gecko is the name of the layout engine.

The string of numbers after the date of construction.

Firefox is the name of the browser.

Finally, 13.0.1 is the version of the browser.

Current Silverlight. That is what it is?

We always try to nail this question, but I'm sure if you run Firefox in 32-bit mode, Netflix will work. To do this:

    1. Exit Firefox. Go to the Firefox menu and select Exit.
    2. Open your Applications folder
    3. Find Firefox in the Applications folder and click on it once to select it. Press command + i on your keyboard. An information window will open.
    4. In the Firefox window, select open in 32-bit mode
    5. Close the info window and restart Firefox

  • Firefox will not play many videos, sounds and other Html5 applications but Youtube is fine.

No matter what are the options I change (I tried everything under subject: config), videos html5 play not (format not supported, etc wrong mime type.). On youtube, html5 player works fine.

    Examples of videos does not:

flow using the html5 and formats like gif player also like gifv to imgur.

My OS can all play, I installed Windows Media Player.

All my preferences in topic amovible.*: config have a default value, and I tried to change things - without success.

I also disabled all addons/plugins, tried another profile, tried the developer version of 64-bit. I had the same problem on my old computer (I did a clean install on a totally new computer and imported via MozBackUp settings). Firefox Safe mode will not help either.

http://detectmybrowser.com/ tells me that I can play ogg but not h264 or webm. https://www.YouTube.com/HTML5 told me that my firefox support everything that youtube needs.

Once again, on Youtube, everything works (right click on the clip not gives me the possibility "about the HTML5 player"), elsewhere (for as far as I saw) I get "not taken in charge or false mime type error format.

I use Firefox on Windows 10, but also known 40 the problem under Windows 7 and Firefox 3 x

In addition, my plugin-container crashes whenever I close Firefox, I tried to clear the cache/history/cookies. No idea if this is related to the question of the html5.

So, any ideas I can try to do html5 video finally work? It is very solutions use another browser every time for anything associated with Html5.

    Holy f * ing sh * t!

In fact, I managed to solve the problem!

All I had to do was to start Firefox using administrator rights. So simple, yet I didn't on this subject! Why have I never tried this before? I managed to solve a lot of problems like this but never thought about Firefox could also be linked to it.

In any case, thanks to all who responded, as well as all those who had to read all my rants in this thread!

My Firefox installation (v33) does not play HTML5 audio.
I am referring to audio tracks (MP3) you can listen to on your personal Google Reader. The stream does not start, there is no time of the track being filled.

-Youtube HTML5 player works great both for Audio and video
-J' tried Incognito mode (without cache and cookies)
-Tried restarting without Add - ons (I use Adblock and other stuff)
    -Tried to restore Firefox.

    None of these permits.

  • Firefox installs not in reality but say that it is.

I try to download and install Firefox but it will not actually install. It will have the same window 'installation' for days. What is going on?

Hello Siearra, opt for a clean re - install, this means that you remove the Firefox program files (check if exist from your installation previous 'semi') and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest desktop version of Firefox (with another browser) of this page) and save the file to install it on your computer.
    2. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default in Windows:
    • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox

Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:

    1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use an uninstaller to third parties as part of this process. This could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and passwords saved. They can be retrieved easily unless they have been backed up on an external device! See back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox.

Please report to say if this helped you!

    Thank you.

  • Firefox will not play SermonConnect mp3 files that have been uploaded to Amazon S3 server using S3 Organizer after 2014 7. Already downloaded the files OK.

Files uploaded to the Amazon S3 server are accessible via our Web site at littlecountrychurch.org. All multimedia files downloaded before January 7, 2014, be played properly on our media page. Files uploaded after January 7 refuses to play on the Firefox browser. To add to the confusion, other browsers Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer on Windows and Mac-play these files correctly. In addition, an older version of Firefox on an XP laptop plays files correctly. We even ran a test by downloading a working of the S3 server, re-uploaded the file file and Firefox would not read the freshly downloaded file, but he continued to play the same file previously downloaded without problem.

The problem is the content-type header sent to S3. The old MP3s are designated "audio/mpeg", which is perfect. Newcomers are designated "application/download", which does not work in Firefox native HTML5 audio player. (The inset on the screenshots is pasted from a screenshot of the Fiddler proxy).

On a normal web server, all .mp3 files usually served in the same folder have the same content type. Something seems different about Amazon storage, perhaps based on a difference in their environment "backstage."

  • Firefox won't play Netflix

Netflix movies play using Safari, but not Firefox.
Using Firefox Mac OS 10.7.5 and Sliverlight 5.1.10411.0 15.0.1,, when I try to play a movie from Netflix, it asks me to download Silverlight again. After that, he still does not play a movie and wants again to download Silverlight.

  • Will not play netflix movies - goes to another page of netflix.

Firefox 4 refuses to play Netflix movies streaming. They worked well in the latest version of Firefox 3 I had yesterday. I added a few security and blocking of modules but disabled then those other than the ones I had used with the previous version. Netflix recognizes my account but when I click on the button "resume play", or if I select a movie and he say to play, it is by default to another page of Netflix with instructions of some sort - it will not play streaming videos.

I've just updated to the new Firefox and would not be able to stream my Netflix movies. I was getting an error code associated with Silverlight. I called Netflix and they had me turn on my story and that solved the problem. Their technical support, said the history/cookies must be enabled to stream movies. I hope this helps! (I also followed the prompt on the screen of Netflix with this error code to remove my old registered certificates, etc.).

    Hello

    Method 1:

I would suggest you click on the link provided below, proceed and check if it helps.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/972496

    Method 2:

You can also face this problem if your Windows Media Player database is damaged, you can delete the database of Windows Media Player. To do this, follow these steps:

    (a) output Windows Media Player.

    (b) click Start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

(c), select all the files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

Note: you don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    (d) restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If the above does not solve your problem then clear cache of database of Windows Media Player files. To do this, follow these steps:

    (a) output Windows Media Player.

    (b) click Start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoftand then click OK.

    (c) select the folder Media Player and then click on Delete on the file menu.
