Firefox continues to change back to Yahoo Search by default even if I deleted all search other than Google.

New installation of Windows 7 x 64.

First program I have installed is Firefox... and I did have the time in the last three weeks to install anything else.

Whenever Firefox has updated these last few weeks, the default search engine continues to get back to Yahoo. If this is part of the agreement with Yahoo Search, then I'm history; I use Chrome instead of Firefox, although I have sorely missed it. I don't like having to go make adjustments each time I install an update of Firefox.

Hello dwbrant, it was a bug and no policies intentional - please refer to the answer in another thread by an employee of mozilla: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1041571#answer-677594

Firefox continues to change it to http://megalithmovers.org/blog-2015-01-24.htm
The two pages are valid (they have the date in the url as YYYY-MM-DD)
I know that the url is valid, that I stuck in other browsers. Somewhere FF has cached the page in January. Being too smart for that is good, it's settled I've mistyped the url and displays this page, not the one October.

I guess you have adware. Follow the instructions on this web page in order to manually remove adware from your mac: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203987

You will also find the adware on this page http://www.thesafemac.com/arg-identification/ removal guide

If you do not want to manually remove adware use this anti-malware tool to detect and eliminate it: https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/mac/?utm_source=blog&utm_medium=social

  • NoDriveTypeAutoRun continues to change back

Continues to change the following registry value:

The value "NoDriveTypeAutoRun" located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\

Basically, I want to activate AutoRun, so I found a tutorial that said that I had to change some values which this one. There was a NoDriveTypeAutoRun more value that I managed to change, but the value at the location above just has NOT changed.

What I mean by doesn't have not changed, this is what the current value is 255 (decimal). I want to change it to 0 but he instantly changes back to 255! Basically as soon as I press "ok" after changing the value and then right-click > change the value is 255.

I assume it is a 3rd party app that does but I can't just decide what! I thought it was VMware, so I uninstalled all VMware products, but that did not help.

Does anyone of you know a software that does this, or (even better) point me to a piece of software that could track the value of this key and when it changes notify me and tell me exactly what type of program made the change?

Please let me know what I can do!

  • How can I stop Firefox to redirect me to the Yahoo search engine

When I try to go to the official site for ATF Cleaner, Firefox redirects me to the Yahoo search engine.
I have removed all references to Yahoo in my registry and searched all the user for any reference to Yahoo profiles. I am running Firefox version 29.0.1 on Windows XP.

It is also possible that this problem is due to an add-on, maybe one who snuck on your system as part of a bundle.

In the case where one of your extensions is concerned, could test the page Firefox Safe Mode? It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works

After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).

    Any difference?

  • My default search engine has been on anything other than Google. How to switch this back?

Somehow my default search engine has been changed to Google to what is called "My Web Search". I want to switch to Google, but I can't figure out how. I disabled the plugin and removed my options of search engine in the top right, but nothing has changed.

You have My Web Search installed; Look under Tools > Modules > Plugins. He could have grafted in on something that you have installed. Always seek and opt-out when installing other programs and Add-ons that you install from sites other than the site of Mozilla Add-ons. My search on the Web is considered malware/adware/spyware by many. You must remove it.

Step 1. You can check if you have one of these installed ' Fun Web products ' :
Control Panel > add or remove programs: Ask.com Bar, my search bar, of the MyWay Bar speed, my search on the Web Bar, Fun Web products Easy Installer
    See:

    http://support.Mozilla.com/en-us/KB/troubleshooting+plugins#Manually_uninstalling_a_plugin

Step 2 You may need to change a preference to reset your default URL/location bar search engine:
-Enter Subject: config in the URL/address bar and press the Enter key
-If you see a cautionary, accept it (promise you'll be careful)
    -Filter = keyword.url
-Under the filter, right-click on the keyword. URL and choose "Reset".
-Restart Firefox (file > restart Firefox)
    See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keyword.url

Step 3 You may need to reset your homepage. Firefox can open multiple home pages. Home pages are separated by the ' | ' symbol.

  • AOL have diverted the search bar, deleted all the other engines and disabled the reset.

I noticed that at some point today the search bar was reset to aol. I removed aol in the bar, but now there is NO option to search engine. All done malware also deleted all other options in search bar, disabled by default reset settings and seems to have deleted the folder of drive C search plugins. I tried an add-on to restore the default choice, but it didn't work. I tried to reset Firefox and a system restore. None worked. I copied the folder searchplugins from a backup, but that has not changed anything. I don't see a new Mozilla Firefox folder (34) as indicated in some other threads. I looked into: config and there are new things for aol it but I do not know how to remove them or what, if anything should replace them.

  • Firefox continues to change url in the address bar, even when I type a url full. How can I force my search?

Dealing with the same companies daily, weekly, or on a very regular basis. When I get a new business account or a customer, I try to remember to delete erroneous results in the address bar. I hit the full url (.com) in the address bar, but Firefox forces of memory (or history) and the only way I can get where I'm going is to type the address from a search engine.

I have everything: completion of the configged, but that didn't work. I also tried autofill.typed, but that has not worked. I tried to change tools > address bar, but the choices are not good. I almost never search bookmarks and my story is too often used to remove. (It seems counterproductive). How can I stop Firefox forcing me to go places I want to go?

It looks like - in the sense to remember shit that I can't remember - and to do my research much more difficult.
I had problems - particularly in Amazonia. I wrote a couple of times. Nobody has ever gotten back me on why FIREFOX has so many problems. If I get answers here, how can I get answers? I don't want to use IE and I don't want to have to avoid certain websites because results suck. I'm in limbo until solutions are found.

    Thank you.

I don't know if the problem is that Firefox itself changes the address you type in the address bar, or if the site is immediately Firefox redirection to another page when trying to access the address you specified.

For example, 1 & 1 Webmail currently redirects to this site for login: https://webmailcluster.perfora.net/

  • Firefox changed my homepage from Yahoo to the Firefox home page. Now, every time I change back to yahoo, it it changes just back to firefox. What should I do?

I keep changing my homepage from Yahoo, but it keeps going back to Firefox Homepage each time that I open it again my browser.

It's strange. You have a program named Advanced SystemCare? Some users have reported that it has a function of protection of homepage that you should turn off in order to change your home page.

If that does not apply to your system, could you review this support article and see if anything here helps you: How to fix preferences that will not save.

  • Firefox continues to make me use Yahoo waste

I changed it to Google once. Now, after an update, Mozilla thought it would be cute to return to Yahoo crap. I hate Yahoo and now I hate Firefox. Have fun losing market share jerkfaces.

So maybe tell me that whenever I update Firefox it changes again in trash Yahoo fell on deaf ears. I'm glad to hear it.

I misunderstood. So you say that you have changed the default to Google search engine, but it has been changed to return to Yahoo again, after updating to Firefox 35. That should happen only if you went on a download site like www.mozilla.org to get the installer of Firefox 35 and executed the Firefox configuration file. It should not happen if you use the built-in Firefox update. See: Update Firefox to the latest version

  • How to change my Yahoo search engine to Google?

I updated a program I use called Any Video Converter, but accidentally, I missed one of the SMALL unchecking during installation that made Yahoo my main search of all my installed browsers. I used Revo Uninstaller to remove the instillation of Yahoo and it fixed all my browsers except Firefox. I became: config and everything I saw changed Yahoo to Google, but it always use Yahoo when I highlight something on a page or use the address bar to search for something.

  • Why FireFox continue to change the window by clicking on another program?

I've upgraded to FF 8 recently. When I start it and go to, let's say, Gmail (in the window), and then open a different browser window (window B) to go, say, Facebook, if I click on another program like Live Messenger or even a reduced window of another window in FF program always changes. For example, I watch window while B is open. I click on the message box Live and B window changes. I click A to return to this window, then click on the box again and B back appears. I can't seem to stay out of no matter how many times I try.

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).
