  Open on Firefox and saw a button, restart to update. (I was 17-point-something version thing. I clicked on it and got an instance of the crash reporter.   Last night my power went out during the upgrade to itunes.  (not sure if this has anything to do with it), but now my computer will not re - start.  It freezes in half way through even in safe mode.  The last line, it shows is system32\drivers\agpCPQ.sys

  Try using the Standalone System Sweeper http://connect.microsoft.com/systemsweeper

  You download it on another computer and copy on a DVD drive or USB key. You can then do a scan without starting Windows.

  What graphics card to display that you have?

  Try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  Sorry, you have problems.

  For any future reference. Those of us who mess directly with: config soon find out how to get errors and it is wise to backup. Occasionally backup of your entire profile for example can be useful and would probably give you a quick solution of the copy on the file from the backup.

  OK on the topic to try to get Firefox back as it was:
  Find your profile and the prefs.js file and rename that. (The renamed file is a potentially useful backup.) Firefox is then forced to regenerate the file and will reset your default preferences. You can then re open and use Firefox. Then, try to return to normal.

  Try to manually change the file prefs.js is normally a bad idea. However, if this is a one-time change prefs it would be possible to directly edit the prefs.js file (while Firefox is closed) to get everything back to how it was before. You have the file renamed to work with. Probably best to test this in a new additional profile so only break you test additional essential Firefox profiles profiles works do not.

  My roommates son asked me to help him to be on the internet, which I did, ran unusually slow in doing so, I noticed it when I checked, I found that the notebook had three solutions of different software protection, antivirus, Norton, McAffrey and AVG 2011 version for free. Also I noticed he had some solutions that provided a diagnosis, list of problems found and wanted to pay for the product before they would allow acccess to the fix. I uninstalled Norton and the McAffrey and improved the AVG free version of 2012. I also uninstalled the pesky diagnosis/buy me for the correction and the ask.com toolbar software. I installed ccleaner from piriform as well. The laptop seems to run a little faster, but the next morning he projected blue and when I tried to start it in safe mode it not loaded so far and then frozen, always in the same spot something AVGi and then it crashes, it will not load the rest of the necessary drivers. I tried to boot to the last known good as well. I even tried to downgrade to Windows xp home edition sp3 and when I do it it says there is no hard drive detected, and do I have to make sure that it works correctly.  I am at a loss, my sons friends bought the laptop (Acer Aspire 5315) for $50.00 and did not get a recovery disk so that the option does not exist or the other. What can I do to solve this problem. I'm sure that for some reason, it has to do with the BIOS and I went to the Acer site (from my laptop) and downloaded something to repair the bios on a flash drive, but me is not good because I can not start on either flash player. I am at a loss here and have no idea how to solve this problem. I am practically self-taught and I am a beginner when it comes to repairing the problems.   Since you formatted and installed windows, its non-secure mode. Try to install display drivers. You can check if the display drivers are installed correctly click Start-> settings-> Control Panel-> system. Hardware-> display adapters. If you have any yellow exclamation next to any device, you must install the drivers.

  Incident reports could help us by giving you an individual diagnosis, but if they are accidents of almost instantaneous startup, allow me to mention something that is 'flow' where you have this problem:

  Firefox crashes a few seconds of starting if you have either the Applian Technologies Freecorder and Replay Media Catcher programs in combination with Norton Security software (and possibly other security software).

  If you have either of these Applian programs and it is not essential, try to uninstall it then restart Windows to ensure that none of its components are running.
