Firefox crashes: ID = 6c53dcc4-7ca3-4877-a074-9ed522151003

Firefox worked fine until this morning. Now it instantly hangs at startup, even in safe mode and even after uninstalling and reinstalling a new copy. I captured several reports of incidents, including the ID = 6c53dcc4-7ca3-4877-a074-9ed522151003

So far, my only solution is to start Firefox as administrator. No idea what to try next...

Sorry to hear about the accident and thanks for the ID of the report (https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/repor.../6c53dcc4-7ca3-4877-a074-9ed522151003).

The crash "signature" in your report has been linked to Applian Technologies Freecorder and Replay Media Catcher programs in combination with popular security software (for example, Norton, which you seem to be running).

If you have one (or two) of these programs and it is not essential, try to uninstall it then restart Windows to ensure that none of its components are running.

Firefox will start normally after that?

(If you do not uninstall the program, another user said he used msconfig to stop execution at startup and that fixed FlvSrvc.exe. See: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1086722#answer-789197)

    Firefox does not work at all... ?

    Sorry to hear about the accident. If you get the Mozilla Crash Reporter form, your Firefox could have registered some data that would help to find the cause of the problem. You can submit these data to Mozilla and share with the volunteers of the forum to see if it points to the solution. Please check the support article "Firefox blocks - ask for help" to get the procedure to get these crash report IDs since the topic: block the page and then after the most recent here.

    Note: If Firefox is not stable enough to use the subject: page crashes, the article also describes how to check for submitted crash IDs disk report.

    Also, and/or at the same time, could test you mode without failure of Firefox? Which temporarily disables extensions, hardware acceleration, and a few more advanced features of Firefox that could make it more prone to crashing on some systems.

    Does not work if Firefox: Hold down the SHIFT key when you start Firefox.

    If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

    and OK reboot.

    Two scenarios: A small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not update).

    Could you try starting Firefox in Safe Mode? It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

    If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    While you are in Mode without failure, you could copy a list of your extensions and paste them into an answer? The best place for this is the support information page - either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

    Scroll down to the Extensions section, and then select from there until the end of the following table with the mouse and copy. Then paste into a response. It may seem a bit messy but don't worry, we're used to it.

  • Firefox crashes at the start even in safe mode

    Firefox crashes and makes internet Explorer and also chromium at startup. Chrome works however after reintallation, but may break after a reboot.
    It was produced after an update of the anti-virus (avast and avg) both demanded a restart of the computer.
    I turned off the antivirus and reinstalled the browser (latest version), but it still crashes.

    I think I solved the problem!

    It seems to be the new version of "protection avg: zen ', it is to play with all web browsers, is not search for viruses, closes the network connection and not to repair...
    So I removed it and everything seems to work normally...

    Should have known that avg was problem since all the headaches began after its update.

    Thanks for all the help!

  • Ubuntu 15.04: firefox crashes, plugin-container using 90% CPU, 11 GB of RAM

    Once in a while (maybe once a week on average), Firefox crashes suddenly, and check the 'top' shows that the plugin-container uses 90% and more of CPU and RAM (I have 12 GB of RAM). So I kill firefox and when I restart, it works normally again.

    For extensions, I only LeechBlock (and changes of Ubuntu). For plugins I have Flash, Java, OpenH264 Video Codec and (apparently) iTunes application detector. Flash and Java are both updated.

    Because the problem somewhat rare occurrence, I was not able to reproduce, or to track down any kind of cause, but I thought he deserved the description anyway; a web search doesn't show anyone else reported the same problem.

    FredMcD not know if the OP was using Firefox on Windows and not on Linux as only your first link is applicable.

    The Flash Player and Java Plugins can be guilty. You must set them to "Ask to activate" so that they will work when you allow.

    I have a strong enough Linux system I find Flash Player setting to "Ask to activate" can still make a big difference as the Flash videos and ads will not play unless so authorized and I (i5 - 4690 k and 16 GB of Ram).

  • Firefox crashes whenever I try to play a YouTube video

    Hi all.

    I had an annoying problem since this morning. I am able to view the homepage of YouTube, but whenever I try to watch a video, the player will work for a short period of time, usually a few minutes - and then Firefox will freeze. A minute or so after that, I get a crash report and Firefox crashes. Here's the error reports generated since that began:

    It's only Youtube that gives me problems. I tried Twitch and Hulu and each site performed normally. YouTube seems to work very well since I was able to access it on Internet Explorer without any problem. I ran Malwarebytes and McAfee scans since this morning, but the two have developed own.

    Any thoughts?

    You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

    • Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.

    You will need to close and restart Firefox after enabling/disabling this setting.

    You can check if there is an update for your display driver graphic card and search for hardware acceleration of related issues.

  • Firefox crashed and does not give me the option to restore my previous session.

    Hello

    I've been using firefox for a while now and so far, ive never had a problem like this.

    Firefox crashed last night while I was asleep, and when I woke up this morning to turn it back on, the crash reporter asked me that if I wanted to restart firefox, I did, but when it is loaded, instead of asking if I wanted to restore my previous session, he loaded a blank page which had a white patch is looking for unusual at the top where the tab bar is supposed to be , with the legs of loading below.

    The tabs that I had loaded were all very important to me and I would like to find a way to get back them if possible, however, I was unable to find anything on the other help pages that describes the solves my problem.

    Please help if you can, it would be greatly appreciated.

    PS I apologize for not to include an image of the window of buggy, it didn't occur to me to take a screenshot before I closed it.

    sessionstore.bak files are no longer used in current versions of Firefox, so they are probably for some time ago (seven 2014:20140923175406) and may no longer be of use.

    One possible way to inspect a sessionstore.js file or a file in the sessionstore-backups folder is open in a Firefox tab and to evaluate that JavaScript code in the Web Console (Firefox/tools > Web Developer).

    Paste the code into the Web Console command line and press the Enter key to evaluate the code.

    eval("ss = "+document.body.innerHTML.replace("<pre>","").replace("</pre>",""));
    sd='';
    for (var i = 0; i < ss.windows[0].tabs.length; i++) {
     var ent = ss.windows[0].tabs[i].entries;
     var last = ent[ent.length-1];
     sd+="["+(i+1)+"]:"+"<a href="+last.url+">"+last.url+"</a><br />";
    }
    document.body.innerHTML=sd;

    Your error reports display two DLL files as creating a condition for Firefox crashing.

    One is an Intel graphics driver. Search for graphics drivers updated. If udated drivers are available, try turning off hardware acceleration in Firefox.
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration#w_turning-off-hardware-acceleration

    The 2nd DLL is linked to 'DisplayLink Core Software v4.3.8432.0' which can be a file used by what is called system tray cleaner. Disable it temporarily to see if that was causing your Firefox plant.
