Firefox crashes when opening and randomly - Windows XP.

What I saw, is that FireFox crashes on most start-ups. It also blocks at random. He experienced, he did this in safe mode, too. He has done this before that plug-ins have been installed, and he does it since FireFox 12 or 13 of FireFox.

Curiously, my folder where incident reports SHOULD go is completely empty.

Current version: 22.0

What I'd do here?

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. As this feature has been added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there are still some problems.

You will have to perhaps restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

Then perform the following steps:

  • Click on the orange top left Firefox button, then select the 'Options' button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to tools > Options.
  • In the Firefox options window, click the Advanced tab, and then select 'General '.
  • You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Clear this check box.
  • Now restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

In addition, please check the updates for your graphics driver by following the steps in the following knowledge base articles:

  • I get Aero Lag when opening and closing windows in Windows 7

original title: Aero Lag when opening and closing windows in Windows 7

OK because here we have the ball, I'm changing it to better reflect what is happening. The links below are some of the hundreds of post, will find you on the internet about this Aero lag. Some offer workarounds and some are not. I just googled Aero Lag and it was on the first page.

If you have the same problem, please provide:

    1. what kind of graphics card you have.
    2. what kind of driver are you using (Win7 preinstalled or drivers from the manufacturer)
    3. your version of Win7 has an update or a clean installation.
    4. what motherboard you have.

From the sounds of it, Microsoft is looking for a solution.

I also ask for the forum administrator to make a sticky like many people is facing this problem.

Solved my problem with Aeor lag.

Reinstall Windows 7 U64 twice with the new/old driver.
Replaced Gforce 8800GTX with Gforce GTX480.
Spent several days on this problem without solution.

But here's a very simple solution that works for me.

I removed the USB extension cablefor my CreativeHS - 1200WirelessUSB Gaming Headset.

Aero lags when extension Iused USB and headphone load.
Without extension USB cable, all right.

So he thinks it's a USB extension cable voltagedrop, forces the system to lag. ?

  • 38.0.1 Firefox crashes when opening gmail

As of today, after that firefox grabbed the 38.0.1 update, it always crashes when I open gmail. It's probably on the GoogleTalkPlugin. Apart from that, firefox always crashes when trying to play any video Vimeo or SoundCloud audio. This has happened since the 37.x; I have been using firefox in paralyzed avoiding only webpages with Vimeo or SoundCloud built-in mode (even if it is a gene). With unusable gmail so, I'm dead in the water.

Here are the two latest crash report IDs:

This looks like a problem with GStreamer.

  • 14.0.1 Firefox crashing when opening bookmarks or incognito after Win7 upgrade.

I use Firefox for many years and this is the first question I had with her. After an automatic update and automatic restart last night Win7, I tried to open Firefox this morning. I pulled up and it crashed. I tried the private browsing, and it crashed. I opened my favorites, and it crashed. Even with all disabled add-ons, it crashes. It works in safe mode. I don't have McAfee - I use ESET Smart Security.

I'm including the ID of the last crash.

Any help would be appreciated. You don't realize how much you rely on a browser until it breaks!

It might give you problems hardware acceleration. Try turning off first, in Options > advanced > general. It could also be an extension, but first try the first idea. If it is not, disable several extensions, reboot and see if that helps. Otherwise, select those disabled and disable many more. If this does not help, you will have to limit to that is the problem.

So as to access the PDF links Firefox and system both crashes many times and Firefox is not able to display PDF files. Please check why Firefox cannot display a PDF file

What version of the plugin are you using for a PDF file? For example, this is what I see:

Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Modules > Plugins category

    Adobe Acrobat

If the problem occurs on some sites including, could you provide a URL or describe any reason than those which may differ for other PDF files?

If the issue occurs for all the PDF files, you could test these sites in Mode safe? It's a standard diagnosis in order to avoid interference by extensions (and some custom settings).

First of all, I recommend you backup your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox. (You can copy your profile folder Firefox together somewhere outside the Mozilla folder).

Then restart Firefox in Mode safe (questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode) of Firefox help

Help > restart with disabled modules

In the dialog box, click "start mode safe."

If a PDF file is operating normally, it points to one of your extensions or custom as the problem settings.

I'm under 32.0a2 Aurora. This morning I upgraded to Aurora when the popup little said that there is a new update available. Since then, I have not been able to open Aurora.
