Firefox crashes when you click Tools - Options and trying to download images.

On a website that I visit when I try to upload an image, Firefox hangs and must be restarted. I did some research and tried all solutions but none worked.

When I open Internet Explorer, the download works fine. It's only Firefox that has this problem.

What have you tried so far?

Try to delete the mimeTypes.rdf file, see:

After trying safe mode of firefox and safe mode of windows and any number of other things I gave a little upward for a bit there, but I woke up from a dream in the middle of the night thinking ' based on the conduct in question, it * must * be something in the shell that is the cause. " (Sorry, I dream of geek).

so I grabbed a shell viewer editor - ShelleExView (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html) (had to use a yucky, any browser to download) and gave him a race.

I have listed all the extensions of the date they were added as a clsid and trying of think back to when the problem started... about a month or so, after a new system, reinstall. and through a little trial and error disabling, I found the culprit.

It is an overlay Manager icon set by what is called WagerLogic. After looking into the company's name, I have to assume this was related to one of the annoying "just lost real money on our virtual casino" pop-ups that infest the net nefariously scenic for an easy mark as orphaned Dickens.

I disabled it and voila! Firefox is still in full function.

  • Firefox crashes when double clicking on a particular bookmark toolbar button.

Every now and then I accidentally double click on one of my bookmarks toolbar buttons. It would hang Firefox (v 37.0.2) and required a force entirely to escape (OS X 10.10.3).) This happens quite often it became boring.

I eliminated this crash when I discovered I had a bookmark for "all bookmarks" entry in the bookmark button, I was clicking. It would seem that this probably caused an infinite loop? I removed the "all bookmarks" entry and Firefox no longer crashes.

It's kind of a nit-picking bug, but I thought I would realize it just in case someone else is as frustrated as I was.

I love Firefox, so "Keep up the good work" to the Firefox team.

It's kind of a nit-picking bug, but I thought I would realize it just in case someone else is as frustrated as I was.

The problem is that when you had a copy of "All bookmarks" in a folder "All bookmarks" you can create a loop forever in some of the editing operations, crash Firefox bookmark.

Because it crashes when you do this, the obvious solution is to not do this.

So, my intention was to point out that such an operation can cause a problem but I was not looking for a solution, because I simply won't. Given that I was not really a question, I think that it maybe wasn't the right place to make such a report.

In any case, now that I know what was causing my plant, I now turn to this problem is resolved.

  • Firefox crashes when you remove history

Firefox 7.0.1 constantly crashes when you try to delete everything in the story. After a while, I get a scrip stop or continue messages.

  • Firefox crashes when you try to attach a file to gmail compose

Laptop Vista 32. When you try to attach a file to a gmail account, compose explore dialog and then firefox crashes. Happens every time and began (I think) with the 16 or 17 years old version. Updated plugins, crossed of troubleshooting on the Help menu, I tried safe mode. All to nothing does not. IE works fine.

After reviewing all services and startup programs using msconfig, I've isolated the problem to a conflict with Dell Media Center in starting. I deleted the software (preinstalled on your laptop) since I never use anyway, re-enabled the acceleration hardware Flash and deleted the line mode protected in the file flash cfg.

NO MORE CRASHES when you try to attach a file to a message in gmail!

Thanks for all your help - could not have corrected it without you.

  • Crash when you click some links (I crash report #)

FF hangs when you click on a link (sometimes random links, but can be reproduced reliably). It happened when trying to submit the issue of the accident.

    Easy way to reproduce:

    Visit: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/04/090418084813.htm

Scroll to the end of the article, click on the link to "" more information is available on: http://www.microtransat.org/".

    Which should cause the crash.

Alternative method (if you want a reliable site):

Ask a question of accident on this website (mozilla), click on "Click here for detailed instructions" in the "Crash IDs" section.

    Insta-crash every time.

Reinstalling FF, did the trick! I even used my old profile and it works very well.

It seems that the latest update of FF corrupt something.

Thanks for the help! I don't honestly think a reinstall would fix anything, as it rarely does. Here, it's rare treats!

    Thank you all!

  • Firefox crashes when you use Google as startup page

Firefox crashes and gives me an error message general she had to close for some reasons.
This only happens when I use Google as my home page.
If I use another Web site as startpage all works well and I can go to Google from here and everything works.
In short: FF hangs at startup only when you use Google as starpage, I see the Google page briefly and then crashes FF.
I would really like any solution because I have always used Google start page and you want to keep it this way without having to start with i.e. altavista and go to google from there.

This seems to be related to the new "doodles" with Olympic events. I hope that the problem will end this week.

  • Firefox crashes whenever I click on options in tools or customize

Had to reinstall Firefox after downloading a faster option "make Firefox" appeared Mozilla as it completely crashed my internet access. Message kept saying I needed a proxy server address as Firefox connects through a proxy server. Finally had to resort to ATT me reconnected as update had changed my settings of local network search: all checked.
Now, if I try to download an add-on on it says is installed, it is not - 41 Add acceptable on - and if I click on tools > Firefox plant wi/no crash report options window appears. need to click the icon. Ditto options menu. And will not accept, click on options in Customizing, a hand appears and zero happens.
Do not have ability to set my preferences, of course. None of these options from the sidebar appears more. I don't have any ad blocking valer'evne after downloading and not running the ad for 41 block.
    Firefox also crashes repeatedly.
Have you tried to reboot in Safe Mode, no difference.
I use XP and that many others have no interest in changing to 7 or 8 so that portable continues to operate.

Your user agent shows you are running Firefox in compatibility mode for Windows 98 (NT 4.10).

Check that you are not Firefox running in compatibility mode.
You can open the properties of the desktop Firefox shortcut via the context menu and check under the tab "compatibility".
Make sure that all items are disabled in the tab "Compatibility" in the Properties window.

  • Red dot that closes an application becomes black and crashes when you click

If I use a mouse Mighty Mouse or Magic Mouse or Magic Mouse 2, the small red candy that closes an application frequently darkens when I click it. It freezes the app. I can still move the mouse cursor, but nothing else open or close until I click on the desktop, then click again on red gumdrop for the APP. This happens on all sorts of applications, Apple and third parties. It happens almost every time, but not always.

This started after I've upgraded to a new trio of Apple keyboard, mouse, and trackpad with rechargeable batteries. I used a Mighty Mouse Wireless before getting the Magic Mouse 2. Because the edges of the Magic Mouse 2 literally cause my fingers hurt, for a while, I used the two mice. Maybe two mouse active at the same time have caused the problem. I looked everywhere in my library to the appropriate to throw files user preferences, but it left me speechless. I even tried resetting the PRAM and SMC resets.

This behavior has migrated to a second iMac when I used Migration Assistant to import my main user account to the new machine. This machine's human interface devices are an Apple wired aluminum keyboard and a wired Mighty Mouse. So I'm sure it's a corrupted preferences file, but I don't know which.

The two iMacs are 27 "(end-2012 and the end of 2013), and both are running macOS El Capitan 10.11.5 with all the updates."

Any ideas on what is happening or how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to "Force quit" the app (s) affected as and when the problem occurs, followed by a reboot?

If the mice are sitting close to each other they are likely to interfere, although the button color change is not something that I've met before.   Disconnect the old mouse because only Magic Mouse 2 will work correctly with El Capitan.
