Firefox does not connect to the internet after you try all the troubleshooting, reinstalling, check my firewall, etc. Help!

Okay, I re-installed Firefox but it still cannot connect to the internet. The original question disabled my Norton antivirus, and I am currently using Windows defender. I have Mozilla removed from the allow list as suggested in the troubleshooting and then re - he added, but which did not help, any suggestions? I am running a full scan now, it has been 2.5 hours now and still running. I can't understand what prevents FF to access the internet, and so far none of the suggestions have worked. I am running windows 8. I try to install troubleshooting information, but it ask again me what to open the xpi file and I have no idea. Hell, it's so boring. OK, got the added manually troubleshooting info. Hope that helps someone help me.

Thanks, that no longer works. I had finally realized with the help of an agent co. My norton antivirus was blocking the upgrade, even if the upgrade it was invalid. Weird, but once we have updated and downloaded the new norton stuff has worked. Thank you all for the suggestions.

  • My PC is connected to internet, but Firefox does not connect on the web

For the last two days, I could not connect to any web site through Firefox. I tried various 'solutions' that seemed logical, but nothing has worked.

My understanding of my computer / in feneral is limited so excuse me if this explanation seems too long or detailed. I do not know what information might be relevant, so I will write everything down.

First: my wifi is definitely work, because my phone connects through to this. My PC is certainly connected to the internet that I am able to send and receive mail via Outlook, and I downloaded an album via iTunes.
Other programs are running too thin.

I tried to restart my computer.
I deleted my cookies etc (just in case).
    I ran my anti-virus
I turned off my Windows Firewall
    I re-set my Firefox

None of this has worked. My next thought is to uninstall Firefox and re - install it... except that I don't have another browser on my PC. I used to have Chrome on my PC, but it seems to have disappeared during certain windows recent update 8.

A friend sent me an installer of Chrome, but it did not work - and in any case, I want only Chrome so I can re - download Firefox... getting Chrome is not the solution for me!

I THINK that Firefox no longer works after that my PC installed updates on a regular basis. By that I mean that a few days earlier, when I went to close my laptop, my only options were "install update and restart" or "install update and close.

I use Windows 8.1. I feel like the updates must have been the problem, because the moment seems to coincide. I really need to be able to access the web then please please help! Thank you

Hello, normally these problems are caused by a security/firewall software which does not recognize and therefore blocks the new versions of firefox. If please delete all the rules of the program for firefox to your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.

  • After installing 8.0.1 Firefox does not connect through the firewall to Zone Alarm

After update 8.0.0 Firefox 8.0.1, Firefox would no longer connect to my local network or internet. Internet Explorer, Outlook, and Ping work fine, the latest version of Chrome is not connecting. If I disable the free Zone Alarm Firewall, everything connects again.

Your firewall is not recognizing the new version; He's just doing his job.

    1. Output of Firefox (Firefox button > exit or file > exit)
    2. Remove references to firefox and plugincontainer in your firewall authorized programs list
    3. Launch Firefox, let your firewall detects new version and give permissions to allow access to the internet, Firefox

  • Firefox does not connect to the internet on this computer, if it does on another computer and Internet Explorer connects also with no obvious problems.

About 1 year ago, I helped set up Firefox on my mother's computer. It worked fine until a couple of days. Now, he is more connected to the internet. The system is Windows XP, service pack 3. Internet Exporer connects to the Internet on this computer. Also, I have another computer with Firefox and it works without problem, wireless. We tried to remove Firefox and then reload and which did not help. We receive no error message. Internet and Firefox simply do not seem to see each other.

Sounds like a firewall issue, seems to affect
More than the other browsers, Firefox.

  • Firefox does not connect to any Web site, but other browsers will.

When I get something in the URL- google.com, localhost, http://127.0.0.1/ one bar the IP address, there is a fraction of a second flash, then the bar becomes empty and nothing has changed. It seems that Firefox is not even try to connect to the internet.

Yesterday, everything was fine when I was running FF on Windows 7. After the upgrade to Windows Pro 8, Firefox has failed. I've updated for Windows 8.1, hoping for the best, but it's the same problem.

I've walked by the firewall program, several times (the only race is the built-in Windows Firewall). Finally, I uninstalled Firefox, including all my settings, custom and reinstalled from scratch, twice. And even this version pure and clean Firefox does not connect to the internet.

I am a computer web developer and would be happy to look at the log files or run a tool (Fiddler?) to see what happens at a low level, if I only knew where to look.

john99, thanks for the links. I went through all (again), one by one. The last link kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic showed me what helped. I've renamed "firefox.exe" to "firefox1.exe" and was able to use firefox.

It made me suspect the firewall or malicious software. I ran a Malwarebytes full scan, zero problems detected. I have pored on the entries of windows firewall, the "Windows Firewall with advanced security" view and also the simple control panel view. The only mention of Firefox is that I continue to add and remove to allow firefox through.

Here I knew what was going on, but for now, I can at least use firefox. How frustrating!

I have read several messages from the HP Forum and tried a lot of things, including the installation of various updates driver later thanks to the version 10.0.0.222, but I still can't the driver to connect to the Internet.  I also changed my router "n" has only B/G as the AR9285 pilot has a history of problems with Wireless N.  Even back to the original driver version 8.0.0.172 provides an Internet connection.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hello:

I'm glad that you were able to restore your internet connection.

I'd go with the latest driver HP vice one from another source.

The only time wherever I go outside HP for wireless network drivers is if you have an Intel wireless card.

My recommendation is to use the free MS Security Essentials antivirus/antispyware, which never interfere with how "things important works" on your PC, such as network connections.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=5201

Your router with a hardware firewall and a software firewall Windows. I don't see the importance of adding other firewalls.

Unless you have a lot of albums secret info on your PC that pirates would like to get my hands on, these fully functional security roadblocks are adequate for most of us.

    Hello

    Network preferences may be damaged.

Open the Finder. In the Finder menu bar, click go > go to folder

Type or copy paste the following text:

    / Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

Click OK, and then move all files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the trash.

Restart your Mac. See if that makes a difference.

Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you.

Then open AirPort Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilitiies

Make sure that both Internet and Extreme are green.

  • I just installed a new router and now my desktop running Windows XP computer does not connect to the internet.

    Hello

I just installed a new router and now my desktop running xp computer does not connect to the internet. I know that it is not the router because I plugged the cable into my laptop running 7 and it works fine. When I try to dhcp I get 169..., when I put manually the IP just get no access to the internet and can not ping to the router address. I tried to run the net work Assistant, emptied my dns, disabled all firewals, still nothing.
    Any suggestions?
    original title: connectivity Limeted

The zero configuration utility works very well. But it is a desktop computer and on cable. All other wired and wireless PC in the office is working well, then it's definitely this PC. He came out of nowhere, I install a network printer on the PC but that's all.

Your messages are a bit terse, but if I understand correctly

    • You have a router connected to the Internet and multiple computers connected to the router, some Ethernet cable and others by wireless.
    • All but one of these computers can reach successfully from the Internet via the router.
    • A computer that can't browse the Internet is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable.
    • You disconnected the cable between the router and the desktop problem and connected it to a Windows 7 laptop and the laptop connected to the Internet via the router.
    • You haven't seen any error message (except, perhaps, a message on "Limited or no connectivity").
    • You have installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 (or at least Service Pack 2)

Assuming that all the foregoing is an accurate summary of the situation, I suggest that you do the following:

Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
Type the following lines and press ENTER after each line

    Netsh reset winsock catalog
    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Close the command prompt window and restart the computer.

  • My laptop does not connect to the internet. .

My laptop does not connect to wireless internet.   All wireless drivers are in place, but it's like windows is be fooled into thinking that they are not there. A Trojan horse has been proposed, but I don't know what to do.  My ISP is also intrigued by this. Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Hello

    1. which browser is installed on the computer?

    2. do you get an error message?

    3. were there any changes (hardware or software) to the computer before the show?

Method 1:  Perform the steps from the link below and see if it helps.

Windows wireless and wired network connection problems

Method 2: Use the Microsoft Safety Scanner in full scan mode and remove all threats that is not detected by it and see if the problem persists.

    Microsoft safety scanner

Note: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner is not a replacement for the use of antivirus software that offers continuous protection.

    Hope this information helps.

I have a desktop computer and a laptop. Both use the same router. The laptop does not connect to the network, but the office has no problem. My wireless adapter on the laptop is on, I tried troubleshooting. I tried to turn it off for 30 seconds then restart him. But nothing is resolved the problem. Any ideas would be helpful! Thank you

    Hello

    Maybe this can help.

These steps and tell us where is the breaking point.

Check the Device Manager for the wireless card valid entry.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_dm.jpg

If there is no valid entry, remove any entry from fake and re - install the drivers for the wireless card.

Check network connections to make sure that you have a network icon/entry wireless connection, and that the properties of the icon (right-click on the icon) are correctly configured with the TCP/IPv4 protocol in the properties of network connections.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_connection_tcp.jpg

Make sure that if there is Wireless Utility a utility vendor is not running with the native Windows wireless utility.

    ----------------

Make sure you firewall No. preventing / blocks wireless components to join the network.

Some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible set up the firewall correctly, otherwise totally uninstall and get rid of its remaining processes that permit the own local network traffic flow.

If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

    ---------------------------

Stack TCP/IP work should look like.

Right-click on the wireless network connection card, select status, details and see if she got an IP address and the rest of the settings.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/status-NIC.jpg

Description is the data of the card making.

The physical address is MAC of the card number.

The xx must be a number between 0 and 255 (all xx even number).

YY should be between 0 and 255

ZZ should be between 0 and 255 (zz all the same number.)

The date of the lease must be valid at the present time.

    * Note 1. IP that starts with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx isn't valid functional IP.

    * Note 2. There could be an IPv6 entries too. However, they are not functional for Internet or LAN traffic. They are necessary for Win 7 homegroup special configuration.

    ---------------------------------------------------

A message in the small window that says connected wireless doesn't means that you are really a valid functional connection.

Above everything is OK, you must be able to connect to the router.

Connection to the router means that you can enter the IP of the router base in an address bar in one go, being able to connect and configure the router menus see.

If it doesn't connect to the router, journal newspaper from any computer that can connect to the router wirelessly with a wire, disable wireless security, make sure that the wireless SSID broadcast is enabled and try to connect with no. wireless security.

Enable security wireless after you eat to make a functional connection.
