Firefox does not open or does not (see/questions/964132)

was Ok until recently

Please include more information, such as your operating system (Windows?) and the version, more exactly what is happening when you try to start Firefox. The information provided in a recent Firefox crash report, if any, can also help. See Firefox plant - troubleshoot and prevent assistance fixing crashes under help in setting this crash and post any crash report IDs recently (they start with bp - )

The title of your question, says "Firefox does not open or does not (see/questions/964132)" I have reviewed this issue and it was launched by another user of Firefox. /questions/964132? page = 2 # 477049 answer has a number of suggestions if Firefox does not start. Which have you tried?

To see other possible solutions

Note: A "clean and reinstall" was one of the suggestions/issues/964132. This means remove the Firefox application and then files by reinstalling Firefox since a new download, as explained at the stage of "Reinstall Firefox" in troubleshoot and diagnose problems in Firefox. So that allows you to start Firefox, but if the problem comes back after the computer restarts, you should make another "clean reinstall" and then resolve your plugins by disabling all, as suggested by the troubleshoot and diagnose problems of Firefox article.

  • Firefox is not reading my profile restored after reinstalling Windows

I had to reinstall Windows (again!). Before that, I saved my profile on an external drive.

I followed the instructions to restore (created a new profile and copy/paste the files saved in the new profile folder) and can see all the recorded files now reside in the new profile folder, but when I run Firefox it doesn't seem to be reading them at all. None of my favorites are available at all. It still looks like a new installation.

I must have made a mistake somewhere but I can't work out what.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How did you create the new profile folder: have you used the Firefox profile manager?

    If Yes:

Try to start using the new profile manager and test other profiles where it is currently set by default to that bad.

    If not:

Firefox can not see this folder because of its semi-aleatoric name. If you navigate to go up a level in the profiles folder in the folder of Firefox, you should find a file called profiles.ini. If you open this file in a text editor, it is likely doesn't have the path to your migrated file. You can change the corresponding path and then restart Firefox to see if Firefox connects with the migrated file.

Firefox does not open in full screen on the task bar and I have to go over it to see the web page.

Firefox window is sometimes "off screen" somehow. Often, you can force it to appear on the screen by right clicking on the thumbnail image just above the taskbar and choose expand. Does it work?

A possible cause for this is that the file that stores the positions and sizes of window is corrupt. You can delete this file and Firefox will return to standard window resizing.

#1 method: If you can get a zoomed window:

    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and output, either:

#2 method: If you can not get a Firefox window for all:

Close Firefox by right clicking the icon in the taskbar > close all windows.

Using the Run dialog box (windows key + R) or the start search bar menu type or paste the following and press Enter to drill down to the profiles folder:

    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Here you can see a folder - in this case, double-click that - or more than one case - in this case, double-click on in what looks like the most recently updated.

Scroll down and rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old.

I tried to contact support Windows 10 and they were useless. It was working fine all day and does not open all of a sudden.

This sounds like a file in your Firefox profile may be damaged or not valid. To check if this is the case, you will need to create a secondary Firefox profile and test to see if you can open Firefox with this profile.

This can be done using the Manager of profiles for Firefox which can be downloaded from Mozilla's FTP server. There is no installation required, the program is contained in a ZIP file. Simply extract the ZIP file and run the executable file inside.

How to create a second profile Firefox, please see this support article:

Note: Do not delete the old profile because if it is damaged, you may be able to recover your bookmarks and settings. For more information on how to proceed, please read the article of the recovery of data from an old profile .

you might want to try running a scan with some various other security like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner tools that are specialized to remove the adware and browser hijackers.

  • Firefox does not open and not get Profile Manager.

I'm running Windows 7 Professional. So about two weeks ago, I had suddenly couldn't open Firefox and since then have tried to solve it myself does not. the process of Firefox opens in the Task Manager, however, the browser window does not appear. Trying to open Firefox again, another process opens and the same thing happens. Process just keep opening and that's it. I tried the Profile Manager, but it opens only once and I couldn't so he can reopen. Every once in a while Firefox actually opens when I run it, but when I close it to see if it works once again it does not work. Firefox opens in safe mode with network consecutively without any problem. While he was in safe mode, I ran a full scan of the system with Nortan Antivirus and allowed thirty or threats, but after restart of Firefox will not always open, treated only. I tried to remove the x 86 erased my local path and Mozilla appdata roaming Mozilla, then re installed with 34.0.5. I tried to open Firefox in safe mode, but it will not open at all, only the process again.

It is possible that your security (firewall, antivirus) software blocks or limit Firefox or the process of plugin-container without you inform, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and allow your firewall to ask permission to get access full and unrestricted, again to install for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

    See:

Make a check of malware with several malware scanning of programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program.
All of these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before scanning.

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

  • Firefox does not open, and when I try to use the "run", it says that the file has been moved, etc. I use Windows 8 and I can't lose my favorites. Help?

Firefox has been great to work on my computer for months and then suddenly he could not load pages. So, naturally, I restarted my computer, but when it restarted Firefox does not open. The icon lights for a bit as usual, then it fades and never actually opens. When I try to use the "run" command, I get this error:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\ refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer or on a network. Make sure that the disc is inserted correctly, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it can't be located, the information may have been moved to another location. »
I also tried the same thing for the file in the x 86 folder, but it gave the same error and I went and looked for the files in the given location and they were there.
Firefox is not to fall down, so he isn't there an other error message, I can give you.
The things that I had my favorites are really important, I can not lose those, but I am fine with anything else have to re-installed, etc..
    Help please?

I've never tried it myself, but the forum has a series of measures for a "clean reinstall" Firefox. Even if you do not delete the record of your personal settings (AKA profile) during this process, a backup of this folder is always a good idea in case something goes wrong.
