Firefox 6 open 10 windows everytime I open the browser
Firefox opens 10 empty windows everytime I open the browser.
Looks like you have another program that is running in the background. Google Maps made this for me - it did not close down. To fix this set your homepage to a site that you would not normally visit - doing nothing, so go back to your normal home page and reset it again. Problem should be gone - but I avoid Google maps now because I don't want it to happen again. However, Google Earth is very well.
Good luck!

Before I turned off my computer, I stopped all my open applications. This makes startup cleaner. But now, at the start, Firefox 23 automatically... not open Safari, no email, just new Firefox 23. This seems to be the new default. I can't stop this behavior?
See:
' Reopen the windows when you log in.
- http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/#tutorial=startup - Applications open automatically at startup
- Control-click on the Firefox Dock icon and uncheck 'open the connection '.
- Click accounts (in the line of the System Preferences window system)
- Click the login items tab
- Click on Firefox in the list
- Click the minus (-) button

as stated in my opening 'Summary' sentence/question...i'm becomes more and more annoyed by an additional tab (plug-in check) opening whenever I open firefox... I have plug-in versions that I WANT and I DON'T want or don't need to push me to update or to change them whenever I opened a window of browser... I've searched and searched and so far I have found no way to prevent this and was really hoping that someone could provide me with firefox a method to stop intrusive loading page again and again...
I have uninstalled Viewpoint Media Player, that fixed my problem with tab plugincheck still of the opening. Viewpoint Media Player is responsible for the plugin called "MetaStream 3 Plugin r4", and I think this plugin is the outbreak of Firefox to open the plugincheck page. It is not enough to disable the plugin, it must be uninstalled.
Since it seems that you do not have the "Plugin for MetaStream 3', it may be that some other plugin is at the origin tab plugincheck opened pop. Try to go to (menu) tools-> Add-ons-> Plugins. See the list of plugins and see if any of them have an icon of red warning next to them. If one of the plugins has a red warning icon, it may be responsible for the outbreak of the opening of the plugin tab. Try to uninstall this plugin, or upgrade to a newer version.

When I open a new tab, it automatically changes to "http://www.bigseekpro.com/search/dns/anyvideo2dvd/{F8DC2913-2606-401B-8AED-0345AD711130}? q =bigseekpro.com/anyvideo2dvd/{F8DC2913-2606-401B-8AED-0345AD711130}? s_src = newta.
This started after I installed a software recently. I uninstalled this software now. I even put the page as "empty". Also, click on the button "restore default".
But the problem persists.(it is not happen when I open firefox, only happens when I open a new tab, while firefox is already open)
How can I change this back to normal? I need only a blank page to open.
- In the address bar, type Subject: config and press ENTER.
- In the filter at the top, type: keyword. URL
- Double click top and delete everything in it and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q=
The URL to add in "keyword. URL"becomes a link in this message, right-click and choose"Copy link location"to copy it to the Windows Clipboard. Then press CTRL + V to paste. You have to type all of this saves.
If your homepage has changed too, follow these steps.
- Go to the site you want to set as your home page. If you want a blank page, type: Subject: empty in the address bar and press ENTER.
- Go to Tools | Options | General .
- Make sure that it says in the first drop 'show my home page'.
- Click on the button called "use current Pages' to set the home page to the one you have on the screen.
After completing the steps above, install this add-on to prevent another search engine to change your preferences: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/browserprotect/

Since I did a Firefox update about 6 weeks ago, that the foregoing happens and it's more annoying, I uninstall Firefox and Outlook, but it has not solved the problem. Boxes are labeled file download, are about 6.6 KB in size and are different each time. I tried to paste a screenshot here, but this box does not have a dough
I don't know if you figured this out, but what I did to solve this problem went to the file-> options. Click on add ins, then you click on manage add-ins and add disabled Microsoft Outlook Social Connector in.

How can I stop firefox from redirecting me to dumb the survery everytime I open a new page?
Everytime I open the browser, from this morning, it redirects me to an investigation. Everytime I open a new tab or page, it redirects me to an investigation.
This looks like a problem with a computer/malware on your computer. Please try these steps:
- Reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
- then go to firefox > addons > extensions and where there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
- Finally, run a full scan of your system with security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to ensure that adware is not present in other parts of your system as well.

How can I stop Firefox telling me to update?
I keep getting pop up windows to update Firefox 3.6.18 for mac os x. The problem is that the new version does not open when I try to get a glimpse of a web page in Dreamweaver. Firefox has not always have this problem. The latest version of Firefox work properly was 3.5.16 which I still use only because it works. How can I stop popups of update of Firefox because since Firefox seems to have no intention to deal with or solve the problem of Dreamweaver, I have no intend to upgrade.
See Update Firefox to the latest version. Section How to configure update options? explains how to disable the automatic update checking.

When I open a link that opens a new Firefox window, it opens 2 tabs instead of one. A tab is the link that I opened and the second tab is just a generic Mozilla tab with links to 12 pages like Facebook, Youtube, etc. This tab opens on top too, so I always have to close to get what I'm looking for. How can I stop this from happening?
Hello. Thanks for all the posts on this topic. I have the same problem, as described by the op. But, while I use Avast, I have NOT the add-on from Astromenda which has been mentioned. However, I have the SB installed toolbar, and it has been recently updated, 29/12. I suspect that it is the culprit, if this problem is in fact not caused by an update of Firefox (my tiles have recently been reset on new tabs, and I suspect that Firefox for this problem).
I am ready to remove the toolbar from the SB, but prefer to keep it (Yes, I admit I'm stupid) If this annoying 'new window = 2 tabs with 'new tab' at the top' would just leave.
Apart from the removal of the toolbar SB... does anyone have suggestions? I don't see that all recently added add-ons/extensions that I don't recognize, apart from the update of the toolbar of SB.
Updated: 5 minutes after this announcement, I disabled the toolbar of SB and restarted Firefox. No change.

When I open the file Downlad box in Firefox (v28) and asks me to select a file to download... as I click to scroll down the download file box things work well... then all of a sudden things scroll down (fast) at the bottom of the download file by itself.
How can I stop this from happening?
Thank you
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).
- Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode without failure.

Whenever I launch Firefox 20 Mac OS X 10.7.5, I get the warning message by clicking "" Firefox"is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it? ». How can I stop this? There are displays on internet and previous assignments on this resolution by using Terminal commands for OS X 10.5.x & 10.6.x, but these commands do NOT work in 10.7.x or 10.8.x. This seems to be a problem of Firefox ONLY, and resolve by disabling the recommended world of security features to OS X, as before in a previously closed thread appears as a solution really BAD. Is there a "Firefox" solution only, or I will have to just to stop using Firefox?
Make sure that Firefox is installed correctly.
Open the Firefox disk image (DMG) file and drag the Firefox program in the folder of the application on your hard drive.
You should not double-click the Firefox application to run from the disk image and drag it out of the DMG file instead. -
