Firefox is reset, cannot restore my profile
Firefox is reset for any reason, was able to restore my bookmarks and passwords but could not recover my extensions. I did the procedure of profile (creating a new default profile and the copy - paste of my old data in this folder after deleting everything) and Firefox still loads a blank canvas when I select this profile.
I can't batch reinstall of my xpi and I don't want to lose all the information contained in some of my extensions (configuration/data etc.). Anyone with the same problem?
Hmm, you should see some personal data in the profile if everything fell into its correct place. You can try it another way?
First of all, make sure that Firefox is completely closed. So go ahead and open these two folders:
(1) the old data of Firefox
(2) your Firefox profiles folder. For quicker access to this file, you can type or paste the following text in the start search box menu (and press enter) or in the address bar in a window of Windows Explorer:
%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
Then, copy your previous profile from #1 to #2 folder (for example, right-click > copy #1 and right click > paste to #2).
In the #1 window, type or paste this into the address bar and press ENTER:
%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox
In this folder, you should see a file called profiles.ini. If Windows hides the extension .ini, you can display it. See this Microsoft article on measures for this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions
Right click > edit the file profiles.ini and it should open in Notepad. You should see something like the following:
[General] StartWithLastProfile=1
[Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/asdf1234.default Default=1
There may be several entries, but you want to change which is currently the default and dysfunctional.
Change the part of path after profiles / to match the name of the folder that you pasted in the #2 window. Then try to start new Firefox

I'm unable to start Firefox. To get the message that it is already running. Cannot find my profile using '% APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles| '. Restarting my computer did not help. Because I had this problem I also noticed that all my favorites that I had copied in Windows Internet Explorer also disappeared. I use Firefox as my main search engine and usually do not use Internet Explorer. I am running Windows 7 on my machine.
Try this add on the profile folder

Just logged in my firefox browser to find that my tabs was not loaded and I was faced with a new browser called FFox pocket, I've never heard of! Can I deduce that this version of pocket is the browser now, I have to use and must therefore start from scratch to reload all my tabs? It would have been nice to be informed on such a radical change, or at least we could consider a choice to choose this new update of the browser when it would be convenient for the user.
Basically, I want that all my tabs back and I wasn't able to do a restore because this option has been disabled.
It is very annoying because I'm going on vacation tomorrow and do not need such a dispute as I had important tabs 'open' to use for planning, etc.
So I hope you can advise me on how to get my tabs back either (I assume that my favorites are still active?) or do some sort of reset.
Thanks in advance for your help and I hope to hear from you soon.Sorry for the delay in responding. You mustn't lose update of Firefox tabs. I hope that you were able to use your history to find your way back to essential sites, or if you access this remote response, you can try this:
Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help
- button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
- (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
- type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button.
In the window that launches, scroll down and double-click on folder sessionstore-backups . Save all the files here to a safe place, such as your Documents folder.
I am particularly interested in finding would be most recent who follows this naming scheme:
Upgrade.js -build_id - for example - upgrade.js - 20150525141253
This file must contain the windows and tabs in Firefox session which was live during your last update. This file is not human readable, but can be 'paid' for your current session history file restore the session of that time.
If this sounds to it's worth a try:
(1) upward to the main floor of the profile folder (whoever opened since Firefox, until you have clicked on in sessionstore-backups).
(2) leave this window open, go back to Firefox and:
(A) as appropriate, to bookmark the tabs that you will want to come back (Ctrl + d to different tabs, or save all of the tabs in the window, right-click on a tab > bookmark all tabs)
(B) then exit Firefox completely using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
- (menu bar) File > Exit
Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename sessionstore.js to something like sessionstore.old.
Note: by default, Windows hides the .js extension. To make sure that you look at the files I mentioned, you can disable this feature. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions
(3) copy the upgrade.js - 20150525141253 (or newer of same named file) in the profile folder and rename sessionstore.js
(4) start Firefox back up again. You may need to use history > restore previous Session if Firefox does not automatically restore windows and tabs.
Success?

iPhone 6s more stuck in the mode of the brick after downloading ios10. Cannot restore via iTunes. error 3014
After the update to ios10, my 5s iPhone seems to work very well. I reconnected it to iTunes and then it bricked, and I panicked.
iTunes synced a couple of times, it took about an hour and a half for me. After that it stopped its cycle of synchronization, I unplugged my iPhone - it still bricked. I then did a hard reset and it worked.
Maybe I got lucky, maybe my iPhone and iTunes need a kick in their buttocks.

I can't get Firefox on my MacBookPro, my user profile is not available. Help!
I got a message at the bottom of my screen telling me that my navigation could be faster if I "refreshed" Firefox, so I refreshed. I lost my favorites and a few other things (I forgot it would happen) and the thought restart my MacBookPro could receive a "restart". When it was time for Firefox restart, it said that I had two profiles, so I chose one of them... apparently not the right one. Firefox wouldn't load or install, and now I don't have it at all. I tried to uninstall Firefox (moving icons to the trash) and all over again with a brand new installation, as a new customer, but... now it says my user profile is not accessible and cannot be found. I dug this file to the trash and put it back on the desktop, but apparently it does not either. I don't know what to do. I NEED Firefox for my browser, even if I didn't have a bookmarks etc. I can redo those, find a new etc. I don't like using Safari, I miss my Firefox like crazy. ANY help or advice on how I can get back Firefox would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Katy
You must locate the profiles.ini file or use the Profile Manager to create a new profile.
See:
This is usually caused by a problem with the file profiles.ini.
You can use one of them to reuse an existing profile or create a new default profile for Firefox:
- Remove the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new default profile
- Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile
If you still have an existing profile, and then click "Choose a folder" in the MP and select the location of a lost profile and recover this profile.
You should find the file profiles.ini in this hidden place:
- Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\
* C:\Users\ < user > \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\ - Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox /.
- Linux: ~/.mozilla/firefox/
If the file profiles.ini compensation does not work then also check the location of the cache files.
- Windows: * C:\Users\ < user > < profile > \AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.
- Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/
- Linux:~/.cache/Mozilla/Firefox/

I don't want Google as my home page, or use it as my default search engine. WHY IS that Firefox is constantly reset my homepage to Google? I hope no more Google, so I DON'T want TO HAVE IT as MY HOMEPAGE. It's really pissing me off to have to return my homepage almost everytime I open Firefox. In addition, I have my anti-spyware configured to block any attempt to change my homepage, and I see the warning popping up almost every 20 minutes. This is NOT acceptable and begins to make me question YOUR credibility if you put in your service to the things that are reached that the user very clearly and in a targeted manner wants.
I've been a user of Mozilla for something like 18 years. This latest version is the FIRST TIME that I felt like your service is less above board. Fix it, or I'll find something else. I won't be using a product that ignores my intended way of use. I only give you the way to lea to solve this problem, because you have (at least appeared) reliable up to this point. My patience is not long in this respect.
I'm sorry that you are having this problem. I can assure you that we will be using the homepage of your choice, and w are not even in partnership with google, because it is not something that Mozilla did it on purpose (that we will always respect your choice to the user)
I would try the following:
- Sometimes, this can result in a corrupted Firefox profile. Try the procedure described in How to set preferences that will not save and let me know if it works.
- If this fails, try an update of Firefox, Firefox Refresh - reset the parameters and modules
- Finally, this can be caused by malware. Try looking for malware with scanners to troubleshoot Firefox problems caused by malicious software

Cannot migrate my profile from XP to Windows 7
I want to migrate my Firefox profile (bookmarks, passwords, latest sites visited, installed extensions/applications settings etc.) of my Win XP 64 machine to my new Win 7 machine. Firefox is updated (34.0 5) on my XP 64 and Windows 7 machines (I manually installed the active apps/extensions on Win 7). However Firefox was originally installed on my XP machine (at least 6) years ago so what counts.
I have read and tried everything I can think of but * nothing * works.
On my XP machine, I have only the default profile (to run Firefox with the - P option). It is located in C:\Documents and Settings\TexasTim65\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\1f2yd5bq.default
On my Win 7 machine, I find the default profile in C:\Users\TexasTim65\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\bjy0sgis.default.
Try #1) I copied the folder 1f2yd5bq.default for Win 7. I run Firefox - P, but the profile manager sees only the default profile. So apparently, it cannot detect new profiles randomly added to the profiles folder. So that's a no-go.
Try #2) I open the folder bjy0sgis.default on Win 7. I delete everything in this folder. I can copy and paste into all kinds of 1f2yd5bq.default. I start Firefox and got nothing. No favorites, no sites are visited and I guess no password information or anything else. If this doesn't work for me either even if MANY people claim that this is what they had to do.
Try #3) using the Manager of profiles on Win 7, I added a new profile called hand. I just copied once again 1f2yd5bq.default in the new profile. I put in hand as default profile used (I know works because it uses different extensions/plugins) but of course I have nothing of my copied profile.
So I'm puzzled. Something is different about my setup which is not allowing me to move on in a simple way.
TIA,
Tim
P.S. is there something I can do to get Firefox to create EXACTLY the same name profile under Win 7 as I had in XP? I would have thought the same username would produce the same default profile, but apparently it does not.
"On my Win 7 machine, in the fact that I find the default profile
C:\Users\TexasTim65\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\bjy0sgis.default. "
There is another folder 'Profile' to C:\Users\TexasTim65\AppData\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\bjy0sgis.default - without the \Local in the path. This is the folder you need to copy your old profile files in.

Accidentally put pixel density too high; Cannot restore.
I tried to fix a minor problem with the size of the text on Web pages, but I ended up doing things infinitely worse. On the advice of another post from this forum, I walked in "subject: config" in the address bar of the "layout.css.devPixelsPerPx" research and tried to change its value. I tried messing around with this, but I accidentally set the value to 11.0, now the browser is so darn big that it does not work. I can't reach the Web page to change the value or the tab for help to reset, cannot zoom out, even a clean reinstall doesn't help. I literally only have access to a fraction of the upper-left corner of the browser. I can access file, edit and discover, and can enter the address bar stuff, and that's it. Firefox is functionally useless until I can change this back, I had to finally download Chrome just to send this message. I'm the kind of panic right now, a minor annoyance exploded in a complete disaster, someone please give me options!
You can perform the following steps to change the still 'blind ': value
- Open firefox, and then press ctrl + L (this will focus in the address bar)
- type of topic: config
- Press ENTER twice
- type devpix
- Press the tab key
- Press enter
- type 1.0
- Press ENTER again and I hope you should be normal visibility now

Cannot restore the backup folder
I had a problem with my laptop HDD (bad sectors) and I had to format it.
Before formatting it, I saved the profile folder in my external HARD drive.
I tried to restore the profile but it does not work. It only contains the folder "Cache" (12 MB), "mozilla-media-cache" folder (0 KB), folder "OfflineCache" (11KO), folder "startupCache" (1.06 MB), folder "thumbnails" (50 KB), urlclassifier3.sqlite and urlclassifier.pset
I can't find cookies.sqlite, formhistory.sqlite, etc..
Is it possible to restore all of the folder "cache" or in any other way? My hard drive now low level formatting, in order to restore the old data is impossible.Thank you in advance.
Unfortunately, this isn't your profile folder. You saved % LocalAppData%\... but instead, you must have backed up % AppData%\...
Disk cache contains files of web site such as pages, images, and scripts. It is practically useless for the purposes of restoring a backup.
I highly recommend to keep good backups of your data somewhere other than the player in question. Bad sectors are not a good sign and may indicate larger problems to come.

Cannot restore the backup to iCloud. Stuck on "remaining time: estimate.
I bought an iPhone 6s a month ago. Saturday, the screen is dead - they said it was a bad card, so they gave me a new. Initially, the restoration of iCloud seemed to work very well, but some of my app data has not loaded up. These data are really important to me, so I thought I could restore the device again and see if it would transfer the data. Now it is stuck on "remaining time: estimated...» "FOREVER.
I tried the hard reset a dozen times. I tried to restore back to factory settings. I tried to load the old backups. No matter how long I leave Restoration - I left it all night - I I found with the message "cannot restore backup iCloud," no matter what backup I use. I talked to Apple Care. No one can understand why it does not work. The guy at the Genius Bar said it might have to do with the fact that my carrier settings were not switched correctly when they gave me the new device. He has updated and was told to wait another day and try again. I did this. It STILL gets stuck on screen and didn't budge!
What could possibly go wrong? Why does a job the first time and now this? The only thing I can think is that it is a problem of iCloud... So frustrating! Help, please!

- Rename the * prefs.js in the profile folder in * prefs_2.js (for backup, but Firefox would not be able to see them).
- Exit Firefox via file - Exit menu;
- Restart Firefox, look for the question.

BlackBerry Smartphones unable to respond to emails after the restoration of profile
Hi BB community.
I have problems with the sending of responses to emails on my Blackberry 8310. I can receive emails and send emails again, but I'm unable to respond to emails sent to me (there no option). The only option I have is to write a new email and send.
I tried to have service returned books, hard reset (handheld wipe) and initially it seemed to have not solved the problem. After trying another activation hard reset and company the second time without restoring my profile and third-party applications, I had the opportunity to respond to emails. However, the restoration after the activation is not successfully restore my apps and it causes the question answer to happen again.
My question is, how do I proceed from here? Should I just suck it and re - download all my apps again instead of restore, is possible (which seems likely) that one of my apps is causing this issue or it could even be something to do with how I install my Blackberry Desktop?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I think your correct, your app is causing the problem. Once you restore, you still have the problem. I would like to re - download apps not restore from the BES. I think it's your problem.

Cannot restore backup iOS 10 iCloud
Hi, I have updated my iPhone to iOS 10 6 yesterday making a new installation (with IPSW restore via iTunes) then I could restore from my last backup (I backup with iTunes).
After the update, while completing the initial installation of the phone, I choose "Restore from backup iCloud" then I select the backup that I want to restore, but once the backup is complete download I get a message "cannot restore backup. I tried several times and also with the previous backups of the same phone as well as with the same result.
Is this a bug with iCloud? Is there another way I can restore my apps on my iPhone for this backup?
You update iTunes before installing iOS 10? iTunes required an update before installing the new iOS.
