Firefox master password prompt appears randomly

Whenever I open Firefox, password master prompt appears randomly in 30 seconds. Sometimes, I always sit on the home screen when I get to the command prompt.

I tried updating Firefox, reinstall Firefox, I turned my requirement of password master on and out, rebooted the computer... nothing seems to work.

I would like to either invite him immediately, as soon as I open my browser, or when it is really necessary, as when I open a login page. Not the current, apparently random aspect that disturbs me in the middle of browsing the web.

This bug is so boring that it's a deal breaker for me. It is particularly annoying when I start typing something, and then the password master guest appears without warning and takes the focus of cursor with her. I have to stop what I'm doing, confront the master password prompt, and then go back to what I do.

In the meantime, I switched to Chrome wire, which is to serve my needs very well, but I would go back to Firefox if I can solve this problem.

Hi Will,

Using Firefox Sync?

In order to secure your login information from synchronization, you must unlock your master password before that Firefox can synchronize.

  • I have the two Master Sync activated WITHOUT be asked for master password said at the start of the session and password?

The basic question is that whenever I start Firefox, I am invited, a few seconds later, my master password, regardless of if I will actually connect a site for which I saved my credentials.
This same number as well as a replica of his original poster chosen as the best answer has been published on the following link: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1039575

I'm in the same situation as this poster, but I don't want to turn off sync. I need the master password set to protect my passwords stored, and I need the Sync feature enabled to share my profile between different computers that I use.
If I close the master password prompt at the start of the session and then I go to a page that I recorded the password, I should I get prompted again, and that's all I need. Also, I've installed Sync do NOT share my passwords stored, where the master password invite so that the effect is useless in my case.

So the question is simply how can I turn off the prompt for password at startup, have it pop up when you access a site that needs a password stored (or ask if I want to save a) and keep the clock running without sharing passwords.

    Thanks in advance.

    No, this is not possible.
Sync must retrieve the journal of authentication data in password manager and which requires to enter the password to unlock the password.

The synchronization used in Firefox 34 version then use password manager to store the name (e-mail) and password to use to connect to the synchronization server.
The chrome://FirefoxAccounts entry in the Password Manager stores (kA and kB) credentials in JSON format.
Earlier versions of Firefox used to store these data in the signedInUser.json file in the profile folder, but the current version only stores the sessionToken in this file and must the Manager password for the credentials of the synchronization.

  • Master password does not work, it's because of my script add-ons-not ghostery, flagfox, better google yandex, like adblock, privacy, WOT?

    Hello Mozilla,

I have included the fundamental question in the previous question. I use the modules above on a browser to firefox via a macbook Intell. I also just reset my master password. I restarted firefox, connected to an online account to test, disconnected, and then reconnected again. After restart of firefox there is no prompt to enter my master password, there is a prompt asking me if I should include the word name and p of the user in the use of firefox master password. What, in your opinion is happening and how could it be solved? Of course, I would continue to use these modules.

If you delete the file signons.sqlite and key3db and set a new master password, then it should work correctly, especially in a new profile or with all extensions disabled.

Note that Firefox does not offer to store new passwords when you're in private browsing mode.

Sometimes a problem with hardware acceleration can make stop button password via the icon key in the location bar does not.

  • I've set up a master password and for some reason its not recognize and cannot enter the e-mail and job site. I tried to delete it, but can not. Help

I tried to take out additional coverage on the internet with a master password. Unfortunately what I typed to the origin is not excluded or recognized. This causes me a major problem due to one of the sites I use for work being blocked, as well as my original e-mail. How can I solve this problem? I tried to turn it off, but it requires the correct password and it does not work. Don't know what happened or if I typed a wrong typo. Can you help me on your end?

    PAM

Firefox master password feature protects your saved passwords. However, even if you are unable to access your saved passwords, you should be able to connect to the site manually (by typing your user name and password). Is that somehow have blocked as well?

If you have forgotten your master password, you can delete and create a new. However, I think that will also erase all your saved connections and you will save them again. More information on this: reset your master password if you forget.

If the problem is not with the Firefox built-in password manager but another (add-on, the external program), then steps would be different, but they depend on what you use.

  • Firefox prompts you to enter the master password so that there is no form on the page

I open Firefox and visit: http://twitter.com/astro_paolo
Although there is no form on this page, Firefox invites me to enter my master password

A quick glance at the page source shows that there is a hidden login form (left:-9999px ;) on this page.)

  • When I go on a site that requires a connection and automatically logged, I always get invited by the Office security software for master password. New w/Firefox 24.

If I go to a Web site that requires a login and a password, and I have it configured to automatically sign in, I am automatically logged (he remembers username and password for this site), but the command prompt of the security apparatus of software for my master password appears. I can cancel the prompt and it goes, but it should not appear because I am already connected. This problem started to happen after I downloaded Firefox 24 yesterday.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode without failure.

Note that Firefox Sync also need to enter the master password.

  • Master password in Firefox using Gmail

I use Gmail first enter in my browser. My system WON'T ask me my 'master' password when I get to it. I think that my safety is compromised even if I use a regular password to access my gmail account. It is only when I open another point, like "Facebook" that I am prompted for the password. My gmail account, I can go on several Internet sites, for example, lists of TV Guide, Fox News, my two local news sites, even my weather site. Why are they not affected, but Facebook is? How can I get my main password to affect these other links of Gmail so that my security system is not compromised even using Kaspersky Internet Security with Firewall in place.

I finally found the solution for this, and my problem was a misleading title in FIrefox. (I'm on Mac OX) This is in Firefox > Preferences > privacy, under the heading of history, there is a choice that says "use the custom settings for history". Unfortunately, I forgot it because I was looking for "Cookies" and do not think that the story was the same. Once I finally chose the choice custom history, a set of options of Cookies appeared. This has had the settings that I was looking for and was finally able to get Firefox to ask my master password BEFORE you sign in to Gmail.

  • Firefox no longer accepts my master password when the browser is launched.

When I run firefox it normally ask my master password. That's fine, I put a master password for me, but now when I go to enter it and press OK nothing happens. I have to hit Cancel at the prompt for a master password for the browser to launch. Then if I change the password that it accepts my password and I am now "connected" to the password database. I can repeat this process each time I restart the browser.

Reset my master password with this method does not resolve the problem. Once I put a master password, yet once I have the same problem as before. The password that appears when Firefox is started does not accept my password.

Edit: I have it solved. An add-on using the master password should be put back.
