Firefox on Windows. When I click on a link, Firefox hangs up with a rotating cursor. Problem goes away by moving the mouse. This does not happen with IE.

Using Firefox 27.0, when I click on a link, a rotating cursor appears and continues to run. Move the cursor will solve the problem. I had this problem for several versions of Firefox, and I use automatic updates.

Please update Firefox, troubleshoot Add - ons and if this does not help, then do a clean reinstall.

Thank you!

Hide the mouse pointer option allows you only to remove the mouse curzor of

  • Yosemite MAC, when I open Firefox I get two windows, when I click on a link in mail, it opens a window not a tab.

I place the FireFox icon in the dock. When I click to open FireFox it opens two windows both to the homepage. When you click on a link in the email, it will open a window behind the first window rather that open in a tab. There used to be a preference re: opening links, but given that it was useful, it seems that Apple has removed this option unless it's hidden somewhere I can't find.

I will review my email and the screen suddenly changes the Facebook to say P & G for example.
    If I tab1 as gmail, tab2 as facebook P & G, it won't happen.
And it only happens in Mozilla Firefox. When I use IE, that's fine.

What Windows platform should not make a big difference. The screenshot may appear as coming from an older version of Windows, but the basics should be the same.

If this does not work in mode without failure, then disable all extensions and then try to find out who is the cause by allowing both the problem reappears.

    • Close and restart Firefox after each change through "file > exit ' (Mac: ' Firefox > leave";) Linux: "file > exit ')
  • Firefox can be configured to open the Firefox more recently-active window when you click on a link in another application? Using multiple profiles.

I think it's really a feature request, but I don't see a forum for this. I used to use firefox almost exclusively, but switched to chrome when I started working freelance for a couple of different companies - the identities of chrome feature really helps me keep my sanity by having a unique identity for each company. However, a problem has recently developed with chrome which brought me back to firefox. The profile under firefox feature seems to have gotten much better since I made the first move, and I'm pretty happy with the way it works... with one exception:

With firefox, clicking on a link in another application, always opens in the default profile. With chrome, she would always open in the browser window that was most recently active. It's a very intuitive behavior, because everything I do in the other application (e.g. thunderbird, evernote, Skype) is almost always linked to whatever browser window, I had finally opened.

Any chance to do this implemented? Or maybe there is already a way to do this? I found the following related topics, but neither helped with this issue:

  • New tab opens when I click on email link, this does not happen with IE or Chrome

I use a specific website for the work. When I click on a hyperlink on the website that is supposed to generate an e-mail, it also generates a new tab for no reason. It is a waste of time. Happening on the same site in IE or Chrome.

Those are extensions for Firefox. You can access the Firefox Add-ons page using one of the following methods:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. On the right, enabled extensions are listed alphabetically, with the extensions disabled at the bottom.

As a general criterion for the problems caused by any extension, the user may try the same pages/functions Mode without failure of Firefox. It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

(Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works)

After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not update).

If the problem disappears, usually that points to an extension as the culprit.

Keep in mind that other aspects of Safe Mode may be more relevant to display glitches (hardware acceleration) or outages as extensions, but in this case, I would look at the extensions.

This will provide some background: for several months, I had problems with Windows 7 (could not start normally, had to use the Safe Mode Networking - finally adjusted msconfig/services and began to access Windows normally - time during Safe Mode, I've resorted to the restoration of the system, tried twice, failed.) However, just 'try' restore, discovered many files, including the .dll was corrupt Restore execution.

    Hi lady,.

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forum.

According to the description of problem I can understand that you have difficulties running windows in normal mode, to access the computer in mode normal, you have to enter the mode safe mode with networking, perform the clean boot by msconfig to access normal mode and all your icons on the desktop has a symbol of Firefox instead of having the symbol of the actual program. Don't worry, we'll guide you to get the problem resolved.

This problem occurs mainly because of the malware infection. I suggest you follow the below mentioned methods and check if it solves the problem.

    Method 1

    Malware scanner

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Warning: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Note: After running malware scan I suggest you to restart the computer, and follow method 2.

    Method 2

    Difficulty of file association

A file association associates a file with an application capable of opening that file. More commonly, a file association, is a class of files (usually determined by their file name extension, such as .txt) associated with a corresponding request (for example, a text editor). A file association is a relationship between a file type and application of support. For example, a Word document can be associated with Microsoft Word. After removing some malware tends to corrupt the file, to your computer.

  • In Firefox using the top menu, for example in Google images, videos, map, etc., of a web page are not activated with the mouse. This does not happen when you use Internet Explorer, because all links are available.

A notification can up on some type of script, which then disappeared before I could take a note. After that links up on all web pages would not work by using the mouse cursor.
It was only the links on a webpage, not on the menu bar or tabs above.

To see if this happened on another browser, I opened the pages using Internet Explorer and open the links on all the pages that are controlled via the mouse. This sugested, it was a problem with Firefox.

I uninstalled Firefox and installed a new application of the latest edition of Firefox, but the problem persists.

No known cure for this problem.

This problem may be caused by the Yahoo! toolbar as scopes as well down and covers the top of the browser window, allowing links in this part of the screen not clickable.

You can keep an eye on this thread:

  • Superior 1/4 screen does not respond to the mouse - cannot disconnect sites when Logout button is in this area, IE. Facebook, banks, etc.. This does not happen with IE. I reinstalled Firefox without result.

Menu bar, tabs, history, research, etc. work fine, but in this area, I am unable to access anything whatsoever. For example, on the Firefox help screen the area on the right side of the screen that shows my user id - Sign Out - Inbox - and other applications will not respond to the mouse. Therefore, I will be unable to sign using Firefox. This is true for every Web site I have access. Fortunately, at least one of the banks that I use has an additional journal on area at the base of the screen that can be used.

Recently, the extension of the Yahoo! toolbar and the extension of Babylon have been reported to cause a problem like that. Disable or uninstall the modules.

  • For many of the websites that I use, I can't click on a large number of icons. This does not happen with other web browsers for those sites. Is there a way to fix this?

For example Facebook, I can't click on the House or one of the tabs on the top, as well as some information through the pages. For Youtube, I can't click in the area of research as well as other places. I can't log out of my RBC page... It happens on each site, I try to use.

This problem may be caused by the Yahoo! toolbar that spans both down and covers the top of the browser window and therefore links and buttons in this part of the screen not clickable.

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

Start - computer, or Windows Explorer - Tools - Folder Options - general tab - check the
