Firefox recently began freezing every time I have (a) try to open options (b) try to download a file (c) try to export bookmarks (d) attempt to move a bookmark

Firefox last month started to freeze every time on a Windows 7 laptop, whenever I have try one of these measures. I tried 'refresh Firefox', safe mode, uninstall/reinstall, nothing seems to help. Cannot open prefs so I have not been able to disable hardware acceleration. However, I managed to set up Firefox Sync which leave me my favorites to another PC, and looks to make configuration changes on that PC affects this copy of FF, so I < think that > I also tried to disable hardware acceleration. Nothing works. Particularly frustrating that the options freeze. Firefox worked for years on the laptop touched, I can do except give up and switch to another browser?

I downloaded and installed the 64-bit Firefox Developer Edition (40.0a2), using Sync to get my 32-bit profile settings. Options and file downloads work, hurrah!
--Samedi 6/6: well, only the extensions I use are Adblock Plus and Flashblock and both seem to work well. I < not > enabled the multiprocessue option.
