Firefox Slow 20.0.1 in the menu bar of the draw (sometimes)

It started just with 20.0 (I think). Text menu bar appears about 5 seconds after the opening of Firefox. I use two different mobile browsers of Firefox, and both have the same problem. I tried to disable all the modules and the problem persists. This happens randomly (but not often). See screenshot (if I can get it posted):

I solved this problem by disabling hardware in Firefox acceleration; However, I still believe that there is a Firefox problem somewhere because I have an ATI Radeon 6450 (graphic PCI-E 2.0 card) that runs in Windows 8 PRO Direct X 11 and according to the Firefox support Direct X 10 graphics information. So, this would also be one problem for others who run natively Direct X 11?

  • I restored Firefox to its default settings, but the slowness, crashing and nonresponse are not resolved

    Hello colleagues-Firefox users.

I followed the Commission indicated in the Support article on the slow, crash, etc. by restoring Firefox to its default settings. But the problems go away. The remains of the slow browser and still gives me error messages on a non-compliant script or plugin and crashes. To make matters worse I don't see the menu on the top tool bar items, I was so used to using, such as file, editing, display, etc.. I very often used the display menu to zoom on texts that are too small for me to read. Now I can not do. I tried to drag icons in the menu on the upper right of the page on the top tool bar above the address bar, but it is not the same thing as what I used to use before, and there is no File, Edit, View, tools in the menu icons. So now I see my g-mail Inbox in tiny little characters. I tried to use the Magnifier suggested in the troubleshooting of support page, but it's too heavy so I gave up.

Would someone kindly please help me with these questions? Thank you much in advance.

    Kind regards
    Tom Graciano (globmart)

If the zoom is your problem so just try to use the keyboard.
Hold down the control (Ctrl) key + "+" to zoom in any window.
Otherwise if the crash occurs suddenly so just try to uninstall and reinstall Firefox with the update. You brought a lot of changes manually, it might create problem. So reinstall once and check whether it is at your service.

  • When I click on "View history" I completely lose the Firefox menu bar, I can't even quit the application without using a keyboard shortcut.

The question describes all this: when I select "view history", the menu bar disappears, so I have no way of navigation, there is no arrow to the left, nothing. I quit Firefox, but only using the Mac keyboard shortcut. I can go back to a previous window only by moving the historic window and I can close this previous window - there is a button for this - but there is NOTHING that will allow me to change, or close, the historical window. My only option is to leave the program.

Both of your corrections helped. The first reminded me that I could simply use command-W to close the library window, because it did not show a close"" button. But your second response on rename these two files really made the tour of Firefox back to his old self once more. Now, everything is back to normal. Thank you.

And I would recommend not having the menu bar show all the time. You can hit the ALT key when you want to access the menu bar.

You can change the items that appear in the menu or the toolbar.

    1. Click the menu button

      and choose Customize.

      • A special tab opens that allows you to drag and drop items into or out of the menu and the toolbar. Feel free to experiment with what works best for you. You can always start over by clicking the defaults button at the bottom of the screen.

For example when you right-click at the top of firefox it will show 'Menu Bar' and 'bookmark' tab I want to prevent users from right-clicking and showing that the bar and ultimately using the help > troubleshooting Info > update Firefox, because they could reset Firefox and get full access to download it again.

I would also like to prevent access to the right by clicking on entirely, showing the context menu.

You must create the chrome folder and the file userChrome.css in there.

    • Create the folder chrome (lowercase) in the .default < xxxxxxxx > profile folder if the folder does not exist
    • Use a text editor like Notepad to create a userChrome.css (new) file in the folder chrome (file name is case sensitive)
    • Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the Editor window
    • Make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line
    • Make sure that you select "All files" and not "text files" when you save the file via "save file as" in the text editor as userChrome.css.
Otherwise, Windows can add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with one does not not userChrome.css.txt file

How will I know which is my namespace? Where can I find this information?

  • Tab of the menu in the Menu bar does not open in Firefox 38.0.1.

When I try to open the Menu tab in the Menu bar, nothing happens. If something when I click Menu a very small square appears under the underlined M, then disappears when I click on it again. All the other tabs on the Menu bar of the HelpFile works just fine. I uninstalled Firefox 38.0.1 the reinstalled again and the problem persist. I even went back to 37.0.2 but the problem persists even if it didn't happen when I was running 37.0.2 before installing 38.0.1. It is worth noting that I've actually upgraded to 38.0.1 17/05/2015 and everything has worked fine until today.

  • Firefox slows down to a crawl while the sync of bookmarks

Whenever I add, modify, move, or delete a bookmark, Firefox slows down to a crawl for a few seconds, whereas Sync does its thing. I know that Sync is the question because I added the sync icon to the toolbar and see it light up and spin and Firefox is unusable whenever I have change a bookmark. This is probably because I have a ridiculous number of bookmarks: probably in the range of 10-20 000.

Despite these problems, Sync did a good job of synchronizing bookmarks between my computer and makes it easier for me to finish my work, so I would like to continue using it. My bookmarks file acts as a search engine mini for the things that I found useful/interesting. deletion of bookmarks or using a very stripped down bookmarks file really does not solve my problem here.

I already googled until exhaustion, and set services.sync.autoconnect to false in: config, but that didn't seem to do anything. This solution might work but is not very handy: http://superuser.com/a/818726/362951

Is it possible I can turn off Auto-Sync synchronization after each change bookmark? I'd like to be able to synchronize ONLY when I click the 'Sync' button in my toolbar in FF.

Sync chooses when synchronize based on a combination of the last hour of synchronization and the amount of change that has occurred. You can actually turn off the synchronization (except you can still manually synchronize) by changing these values.

    1. go into "subject: config.

    2. Enter "services.sync.syncInterval" in the search box. It's the amount of time (in 1/1000 of a second) that synchronize waits between synchronizations. If you want to sync never synchronize after a while, change for something big like '999999999999999999999999 '.

    3. Enter "services.sync.syncThreshold" in the search box. It is the amount of change that must take place between synchronizations. 300 represents a bookmark and is also the default, so by default, sync will sync whenever you add a bookmark. If you want to synchronize only after 2 bookmarks, change it to 600, etc.. If you want to never synchronize, also change it for a very large number.

Note: there is always a possibility sync may synchronize automatically some time, but it is extremely rare.

I mean, with the first right click on the menu bar that appears to address do not allow me to copy the link directly, you must click another area and then click again with the right mouse button in the address bar to copy the Internet address (happens to all pages)

  • UI of Firefox is slow by typing or selecting the text (after update 33.0)

After the 33.0 update, I noticed that typing a backspace in any area on a Web page or even in the Firefox address bar is slow to echo, on a lag of 1 second. Also, by selecting the text typed (to remove a TI, etc.) by a click-and - drag quick selects the entire, but when I click in the dialog box to deselect, the part which has not been posted as selected initially, is selected for a moment before the string whole hilite selection disappears.

What makes the browser very cumbersome to use.

This seems to be new to 33.0. I tried to reset Firefox, but it does not solve the problem. No problem in IE 11.0, so I do not think that the malware. I have also to keep all s/w and run avast/zonealarm for safety. I've never had an infection of malicious software on this machine. Win7 Home Premium 64-bit, 8 GB of RAM. The use of resources is low, so not out of process control.

I have request the latest Microsoft "Patch Tuesday" updates 15/10, the same day that I updated to Firefox. This can complicate the diagnosis. But even once, IE was not affected, then, how the different Firefox UI for basic keyboard/screen I/O?

If there is an easy way to "downgrade" to the 32.0.3 prior revision, I could try to confirm. Help, please!

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the profile folder of Firefox that store session data.

Delete sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and groups of tabs open and closed tabs (back) to get lost and you will have to re-create them (take note or bookmarks if possible).
