  It started last week with Firefox 5 and continues with the upgrade to Firefox 6. Each new page that opens in Firefox does not display a scroll bar. By entering the lower right of the page with the mouse and move the mouse to the right, the scroll bar appears and is usable. This "correction" is required on each new page.

  This condition looks similar to the condition met when Firefox 5 was introduced. The fix was to open appearances in tools then choose the default setting. This patch doesn't work anymore.

  I noticed that you have several extensions. Could one of these be alter the functioning of the search bar? You could test mode without failure of Firefox.   You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

  • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
  • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

  Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works

  After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).

  You can check the target line in the shortcut to the Firefox desktop (right click: properties) to make sure that nothing is added after the path to the Firefox program.

  You can reset your newtab page by:

  1. In the address bar, type Subject: config and press enter. The subject: config "this might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click on I'll be careful, I promise! to keep the comments: config page.
  3. Search browser.newtab.url, right-click on the line and select 'Reset' or 'Edit' (default is on: newtab but you can change it to what you want)

  Alternatively, you can install the extension, Reset search tool. This extension resets your homepage, search bar and page of the tab back to the default settings and then to uninstall.
