Firefox sync (Linux Mint 17.02)

Hey there! I tried to set up Firefox sync. Remove the .mozilla folder in my home directory synchronization does not work yet to reinstall Firefox several times. I tried to use Firefox 41.02 and 42.0.
The sync connection is successful and Firefox tries to sync (blue circle), but nothing happens. When you go to about: preferences #sync, then to 'Manage', it takes a while to load before you get an "unexpected error".
I'm trying to sync between my laptop and my desktop, the two Linux Mint 17.02.

Any suggestions?

Hello

Your first journal suggests synchronization completed. It has a few warnings bookmark weird and disturbing, but otherwise it's okay.

Your second newspaper told me that you are on a network of Unitymedia.

https://Bugzilla.Mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1118958

You must reduce your MTU, so it doesn't cut it connections.

  • 31 Firefox on Linux Mint 13 suddenly stopped to save tabs or warning on close

Have used this system for about a year. Update Firefox once or two. Always worked very well. In the last months I kept several tabs open that I wanted to keep but are not currently working with. FF has always presented the 'Save and exit' box, and always, I clicked on "save and exit". He has always worked and always open with my saved tabs.

This morning I had a question about the file manager of mint 13, Caja. I clicked on the 'Help' of Caja button. Firefox was not open. Caja-opened with only the tab of the home page. I downloaded a PDF file and closed FF.

Then I wondered about this behavior and open FF in the menu, as I usually do. It opened only the home page.

After a lot of research online and study settings FF, I find:

    • 'Restore previous Session' is always grayed out.
    • "Warn when closing" (topic: config) is always set to True
    • Preferences-Tabs is always set to "Warn me when closing multiple tabs"
    • I found that preferences-general set to 'show my home page ". I changed it to "show my windows and tabs from last time '.

At this point, FF opens with the sidebar story opens if I let him, but

      • It does NOT indicate on several tabs
      • He's not asking if I want to "save and exit", as he has always so far
      • It does NOT save open tabs
      • It ALWAYS starts with ONLY the homepage, despite the settings.

I restarted Linux, but it made no difference.
I've NOT updated FF recently. I have nothing.

That's happened? Why should FF behave suddenly it? This happened to someone else?

    Thank you.

    SUCCESS!

    Here's what worked:

    (1) yesterday I installed the Session Manager (then had to deal with other issues).

    (2) today:

        a) I renamed my "sessionstore.js" to "sessionstore.bak-(today's date/time).
        b) I copied that July sessionstore backup file to the desktop, renamed the copy "sessionstore.js" and put it back.
        c) Restarted Firefox. Session Manager promptly popped up a dialog box asking what tabs I wanted to restore. I recognized all my old tabs, so I had it restore everything.
        d) Closed FF with "Save and quit".
        e) Re-started FF. It came up with all the tabs, just like before.

I 'got lucky' here by having this backup of session July 31, on that I didn't even know.

Thanks to jscher2000 and cor - el for your useful tips.

billmcct, your idea sounds good too, except that in this case this backup file got defined to match the '.js' until I realize what was going on. So it would not have helped here. Thanks for sharing, however.

Alternatively, you can use Chrome or chrome for that one site and use Firefox for everything else.

  • Console DRAC 5 and virtual media does not not from Firefox on Linux

    Nice day

I'm trying to access the console and features virtual media from a server of PE2950iii with a Drac 5 with the latest firmware 1.65 from a client Linux Mint running Firefox 27.

I had no chance whatsoever with the plugin and now try the java applet. Using the java applet I can successfully open a virtual console and see what is on the screen, however, it does not meet one of my shots (or macro keys in the menu).

Think I have this more often figured out. I just ripped the system and reconnect the 2 cables DRAC. Restarted and my keyboard works now! • Hello from Firefox with camera backwards (with linux Mint 17)

Hello, I am running Firefox 36.0.1 and I tried the new addon from Hello. Unfortunately, my camera is displayed upside down. It was the same problem I had using Skype and I had to update libv4l and that worked. It still works now for Skype, but Hello the problem is back. (I use linux Mint 17)
    Any suggestion?

Skype and Gtalk for linux are 64-bit by default, but Firefox is a 32-bit program (for now). LD_PRELOAD = /usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so will not solve this problem in Hello because it is a 64-bit library.

Using /v4l1compat.so is the right idea, but that error "cannot open shared object file" comes from the kernel and not from Firefox. "Cannot open shared object file" means that the file is not there or that your user name is not allowed to read. Verify the path and permissionsv4l1compat.so (after checking that the library is there and that it has the appropriate permissions) and then try to run: LD_PRELOAD = / usr/lib32/libv4l/v4l1compat.so/usr/bin/firefox

  • Since the update to Thunderbird worm. 41 it is fixed as the preferred application for browsing the web in Linux Mint 17.2?

What could be the cause of Thunderbird to set as the favorite in Linux Mint 17.2 browser client. If I reset it to Firefox, the next time I open Thunderbird, it still resets the preferred setting Thunderbird client. When I open Firefox, it pops up a window saying that this isn't the default browser, asking if I want to change. • How can I remove wrong email for Firefox Sync on my browser?

    Hi all

I use Firefox 37 recently. I'm new to Firefox sync and made a stupid mistake. I myself registered with my email account but accidently left a character. It seems that the verification email has gone to someone who has that email address.

I tried to register on the synchronization with the correct e-mail and now I get the message:
    Merge the warning
Another user has been previously connected to synchronize on this computer. Signing in will merge bookmarks from that browser, passwords and other settings with "... @mail.com '.

Is it possible to remove the wrong address of my browser?

    Thank you

Try to delete the folder of the armor and the signedInUser.json file in the Firefox profile folder and delete the prefs.js file to reset the prefs and may also remove the compatibility.ini file to reset the profile.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:

  • How to install check speller of the Serbian language in Linux Mint

Hello, I use Thunderbird 31.6.0 on my Linux Mint 17. I tried to follow the instructions that are on this web site to install dictionaries new Auditors of spelling, but it does not work. It is said that it is not available for my platform. However on my Windows computer it says that this version is not supported. In the comments of this page in someone explained workaround. You need to download the add-on, rename the .zip extension, unzip it and copy the files unpacked in C:/Program Files/Mozilla Thunderbird/dictionaries. I did and it worked!

Is it possible to do a similar thing with Thunderbird for Linux Mint?

I wanted to do the same trick but I didn't know where is the Linux dictionaries folder.
I did some research on Google and understand. So here's how to do it:

    1. go on here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/%D1%81%D1%80%D0%BF%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B8-%D1%80%D0%B5%D1%87%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%BA-serbian-dictiona/

    2. right click > save link as
    3. you will get a file as, rename the file and be sure to make it .zip
    4. unzip the
    5. in this new folder as you open dictionaries folder and copy all the files you have there
6 open your file manager and go to/usr/lib/firefox/dictionaries
7 stick y files you just cope, you do need to root premison to do so then right click in the window > open as root and then paste it

That's it, you'll have dictionaries for Firefox and Thunderbird.

I recently installed a new copy of Linux Mint 15 (Cinnemon). By this I mean that the form has not provided or by pressing Enter or clicking on the ' search ' button.

I deleted all the Add-ons, removed and reinstalled Firefox several times, tried the Reset, and deleted, then recreated function profiles manually reset the options of configuration by default and any other thing I could think of. Nothing did.

Some users of a similar question mentioned that helped chromeappsstore.sqlite deleted, but this file is never created for me. In addition, localStorage ["search-engine"] is not defined according to the console, but Google is defined as the defaultenginename.

Any ideas on what else to try?

See you again all search engines in manage search engines?

You can check if you have the XML files including Google's default search engine in the browser/searchplugins folder in the Firefox program folder.

If this isn't the case, then you need to reinstall Firefox.
