Firefox will not keep the settings available, they keep coming back to a default value

I used to be able to change the zoom by using ctrl_scroll and it worked fine (to fit the entire page on a single screen with no scroll bar). Now, even after I have it, as soon as I go to a new site or edit folders in gmail, it keep coming back to a default zoom make the page too big to fit on a single screen. It is especially annoying with gmail...

There are a couple of modules designed to record your zoom settings. They also allow you to define a new zoom level for all pages, you have not yet visited. I have not tried, but here they are:

It is a common problem. Try resetting firefox to solve the problem, but in case it does not try one of them: -.

That your cookies are not saved, it could be a third-party program change it back to its previous setting, the substitution of preferences user.js file.

Your installation of Firefox may have been customized to add a configuration file program that blocks certain preferences or prevents certain changes saved. If try reinstalling.

Firefox may be unable to save your settings if the prefs.js file (or the prefs.js.moztmp file, if it exists) is write-protected or there are other prefs backup files.
File preferences may be corrupt, Firefox prevents writing to it. If you delete this file, Firefox will automatically create another when it comes to.

Try one of the above... This should work.

  • New Firefox, will not save the homepage and will open and display all add-ons every time!

Okay - years old now, I used Firefox ONLY - he had the best extensions and modules from any other browser out there. Add to that, it is safe and very fast. This is my default browser.

This week I logged on my DeviantArt site and odd ads began to appear in the lower corners left and right of the browser, unlike what I'd never seen before. Add to that, they were very inappropriate. So I guess something was wrong and went through three, as in 3, programs to find out if I got "bugs" the origin of the problems. And of course, there was a kind of nasty bug in Firefox, causing all sorts of questions.

So, following the suggestions to fix, as well as the suggestions on here, I uninstalled Firefox (21) and then reinstalled the new version, 23. At first, I thought, ' Wow, this is really very fast! When I opened Firefox it does not go to my home page, he went to the Firefox start page, as well as the opening of the tabs for EACH add-on and extension!

Yes, open tools, Options and reset the home page of my homepage, https://www.google.com

Simple and something I've done before. I'm a geek and have worked on my own additions. Set up my home page, has been working in Firefox and went to youtube to download a video it would not! So went to DLhelper, read their comments, changed one of the strings and voila! No problems!

So I thought it was fixed and I was happy. It was last night. This morning, I start the computer and the first thing we do is to open Firefox. And what happens? Oh, Yes, that's right, NOTHING THAT I wanted TO! It's back to the start page of Firefox, and it opens tabs for EACH SINGLE module!

Holy carp, tired now. So I research of 8 this morning until about an hour ago, so a little more than 5 hours, that I keep trying to fix it based on instructions of Firefox. Go to topic: config, work on channels, change the info from the home page, etc. Save it. Return to tools, Options, and there is my home page. Close Firefox and open and what the heck? Once again, back to where it was, opening, as if I just downloaded this browser. Now, I spent literally HOURS trying to solve this problem and I am so frustrated that I'm almost ready to uninstall it! My one complaint is that I've looked everywhere to try to find this same problem and it does not. Is true, I am the only one having this weird problem?

    You can reset firefox?

See below for what it does.

  • Firefox is not saving the settings of my history and cookies.

I was going to 'Options' and change my settings "Do not forget the story ever" and then I click 'OK '. When I'll be back in 'Options' in the same window or after closing, it has not changed and is still at the old setting "use the custom settings for history".

Can someone help me address these privacy settings so that they are saved and do not return to old customization?

  • From 50.0, Firefox will not load the tabs. How can I treat?

Recently (very probably coinciding with the 50.0 update), Firefox suddenly stopped loading tabs. All the pages get stuck on 'connection '.... "as well as system as topic tabs: support and about: config. Google.com and other Web sites and locations internal intranet do not load.

The first tab that opens at the start of Firefox will sit on a white page indefinitely, not to load the page speed dial 'shortcut '. Not even the tabs system such as topic: support load. If a second tab is open, and the first tab is closed, then the tabs system become available, but websites will always be blocked to 'connection '.... »

This troubling behavior began to appear in dozens of jobs in our Organization. On each of them, except one (so far), we were able to resolve by obtaining: support to load using the method described above and refreshing of Firefox, which leads me to believe there is some sort of problem with the profile.

On a desktop, Firefox seems to work after a refresh, but after an instance of Firefox is closed and a new opening, the new question asserts itself. When you open Firefox under a new user profile, it works once before breaking. On this particular station, I tried uninstall Firefox and reinsert several times without success, as well as facility nightly, which presents the same exact issues as the regular version. I'm stumped on how to solve this problem for the end user. I even tried to run CCleaner.

    Any ideas?

Hi HaggenIT, can you please try the following and see if it works: enter Subject: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears) & search for the preference named browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2. Double-click it and change its value to false.

It is a problem specific to Oracle Web Logic EM.

  • I installed 8.0.1 and when I try to bookmark a page, Firefox will not save the bookmark. Do not import or restore either.

I downloaded Firefox to reinstall. After installation, I opened a web page and tried to bookmark. Firefox opens a small format that I am to fill, provide a name and other information for the bookmark. I filled out the form and click 'done '. The form disappears. If I click on "Bookmarks" in the menu, I can't see not all bookmarks. a few commands for "show all bookmarks, bookmark this page, bookmarks bar and bookmarks-not sorted." View all bookmarks opens a window of the library. It is empty. None of the functions (Import, restore, etc.) anything, but no error is thrown. Displays bookmarks bar a side pop-out menu with 'Empty' written in it. Unsorted Bookmarks empty library is displayed again. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox several times, cleaned the registry, etc. and it continues to refuse to bookmark the pages. But seems that Firefox KNOWS that the page is bookmarked. The URL will pop up as I start to type in the address field.

One possible cause is a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

  • I am trying to sign a certificate (using Mac) and Firefox will not accept the password.

The certificate is used to authenticate my identity.

He rejects every time - turn the box a certificate with password space empty. I've seen a few questions about certificate issues in Firefox there a few months they will be solved? Any ideas of a workaround in the meantime?

    Hello
I had the same problem, and I read somewhere that, according to a mozilla knowledge base article, the password is a requirement for import certificates (although the corresponding KB page is now unavailable)

I tried the following and it worked for me:
-certificates of export on the desktop
    -remove the certificates in firefox
-set a master password on firefox (preferences - security - using the master password)
    -import certificates

You should now be able to sign.
    Hope this helps

  • Two of our accounts of Firefox will not allow the user to connect to gmail.

I just upgraded my desktop computer for Windows 10. We have several user accounts on this computer. We all use Firefox as a browser. When one user other than me opens Firefox in their account, they can go without a problem, but cannot connect to gmail. They receive the following message: "secure connection failed. An error occurred during a connection to accounts.google.com. The peer certificate has an invalid signature. (Error code: sec_error_bad_signature). The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Contact the Web site owners to inform them of this problem. »

If they disconnect from their user account on the computer and connect in mine, then start Firefox, they are able to access gmail and have all the features. Any suggestions? Thank you.

  • Firefox will not save the names of user or password

I have Firefox at work, where they have a policy file that prevents me to set a homepage, by setting Firefox as default and remember history.

Now, because I used sync at work and at home sync to synchronize my favorites, I can no longer set the homepage to home, put Firefox by default, or save the data of login/password or search history. The only thing that remains is favorite.

Hi there, please check your preferences. Check if Donot forget not the history is enabled or not.
If Yes, then firefox behaves as incognito mode, change it to remember the story to solve your problem.

    Hope that helps.
If the problem persists, please do not hesitate to ask at any time.

  • 33.1 FireFox will not display the PDF file from the website of the Bank after 33.1

I asked this question in a non-support ticket so I want to give more details here. I tried to uninstall Adobe reader and reinstall and it did not help. It worked before with all the exact same addins I had before. I called the Bank and asked if they had any problems and they say no. I can go to the Firefox PDF display for this file and click Download the PDF file, then double-click it in Windows Explorer and Adobe reader appears and displays the file very well. Don't mind what to do at the moment. What happens is the Bank to load the file then Adobe reader opens with a white screen and a small circle going round and round, like a video trying to play, and it is just there for always. I never see the content of the file. In any case I hope that your have a good of a day as I am and I know that it improves. Thanks Firefox programmers for such a wonderful program.

Update: while I was writing this I thought to go in Firefox options, then Applications, and wouldn't you know, a PDF document has been set to "Preview in Firefox. I changed that to Adobe reader and now it works fine. Suppose that there is something wrong with the code in Firefox. So I'm happy now. Hope this helps someone.

Yes, the built-in PDF Viewer is a work in progress. Glad you found a workaround, or go to your favorite configuration, depending on how you look.

  • Firefox will not allow the module because "do not update for Firefox 29,0" even on update modules.

I recently newly installed firefox 29.0.1 on my Android phone. Several modules that work very well on my laptop with Firefox 29,0 claim to be 'not updated for Firefox 29,0"

for 'Reporter compatibility add-on' and the 'Greasemonkey' add-on, the site was actually a message in red under a gray button 'add to Firefox' who says 'not updated for Firefox 29.0 ".

For the add-on "Leechblock", the site allows me to download, but after downloading a message saying "Leechblock could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 29.0.1.

All these modules work fine on my computer, and the support for them sites claim that they have been updated, so I'm at a loss as to why they do not work.

On the view of the Office of addons.mozilla.org , there a version information section that can be extended if you click on it. For example https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/addon/stylish/

    > Works with Firefox for Android 14.0 - 32.0, Firefox 4.0 and later, SeaMonkey 2.1 and later, Thunderbird 5.0 and later

If the extension does not Firefox for Android in its version information section, it is not compatible.

  • Gmail in firefox will not open the file selection window when adding attachments, no errors, just nothing. Chrome works fine on the same computer. Firefox is updated

When you try to attach files to a message using gmail does not. I click on the paperclip icon and no windows open, show no errors, it just sitting there? I can't join the messages as expected using Chrome & gmail on the same computer.

I cut and restarted the computer without modification. I current firefox [v31] and the computer is a dell desktop running Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2 build 6002.

    Thanks for your help

Google has fixed this problem with attachments in Gmail, on their side, so this should work without the workaround to allow pop ups for mail.google.com.
