Firewall turns off

I own a MacBook 2015 Pro running El Capitan (10.11.4) and I have problems with the firewall.

Despite them 'walk' and set up programs to allow access, whenever I go into the firewall settings is 'off '.

How can I know what is turn it off and stop him being extinguished?

You have installed what is called "Private access to Internet", or any other third-party VPN client software?

    Hello

I had the virus that has not seen the MS and MS Safty Scanner MS Security Essentials (MSE) malicious software removal (the value always protect).  It prevented the MSE to run.

I downloaded Malwarebytes (no Scan option, no firewall or real-time).  He found the virus, the list is below shows what virus found where.  I uninstalled and installed a new MSE, he says that the machine is clean.

Task bar indicators show my firewall consistantly goes off about 45 seconds after the start to the top, then turn about 30 seconds after the beginning upward.  (I note firewall controls are frozen before it turns off, it can be turned off from the start, just about 45 seconds for the PC to detect).

The firewall configuration is does not (unknown error) while the firewall is disabled and setting off the power before.

I'm running a fully updated MS Windows XP 32-bit, bridge 2005,.

Now, I already tried a lot of things, including about six analyses of various companies.  I suspect there is still a compenent that nobody yet knows how to look.  Is there anyway to get MS to analyze my system to see what is out there, so that they can identify the virus, I think I have MSE reports, but there is no button to tell MS my computer is infected, so I think that there is no report.

I'll probably have to find another XP operating system going offline, but my piece of bridge came not with all drives, so if there are unique drivers they may not work with windows 7 or later.

  • Windows Firewall turns off automatically.

Windows Firewall turns off automatically at startup, sometimes. I use Trend Micro Internet Security and Windows Security Center. They both have a firewall. (1) I always here you can only have one firewall at the time, is why that Windows Firewall turns off sometimes? (2) if so, why only sometimes? (I don't have Windows OneCare.) (3) should I manually turn off the Windows Firewall and just use the Trend Micro firewall? (4) that I will protect? Please answer 4 questions.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear enough in my question. I'm not asking for possibly a recommendation on what AV I have to use. I know not if I have to choose only one I'll choose Trend Micro. I wanted to ask what is the right way to turn off the Windows Firewall and make sure it stays off. When I open the Windows Security Center it shows firewall as YOU, but she does not have an option to OFF.

Start button > in the search box, type windows firewall > look up, click onWindows Firewall > in the left column, click turn on or off Windows Firewall > the rest is self-explanatory.

Even if you * know * you just did this - that in that order...

Check your time zone and time are correct.

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

    Reset.

Now reset your Windows with this FixIt components update:
How to reset the Windows Update components?

    Reset.

    Try to get updates.

If it still does not work, try this...

    1. Start an elevated command prompt.
    2. Run the following commands pressing on enter after each line:

      net stop wuauserv

      CD %SystemRoot%\System32

      Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

      net start wuauserv

    3. Reset
    4. Try to reinstall updates

    * Important * When you do this, the following problems occur:

    • Updates that are currently downloaded but which have not yet been installed must be downloaded again by using Windows Update or Microsoft Update.
    • When you remove the Software Distribution folder, your download history is deleted.
    • If you currently receive updates from Microsoft Update and Windows Update, you will need to reselect this option from the Windows Update Web site.

    * Note *
if the problem is resolved and you can successfully download and install the updates, you can delete the directory SoftwareDistribution.old to recover disk space.

    Original title: Firewall problem definition

    Hello Ahmed,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. You did it of any significant changes to the computer before this problem?
    2. What anti-virus program is installed in the system?

The question could arise if the antivirus program installed (if any) in the system has its own firewall which disables the firewall of Windows by default during the operation. To further diagnose the problem, I would suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Follow the steps to configure the Windows Firewall service to start in auto mode:

    • Press the Windows key + R and type "services.msc". Press enter.
    • Locate the Windows Firewall service and right-click on it. Click on Properties.
    • Choose Automatic from the dropdown under Startup type. Also set the status of the service as a point of departure for the service.
    • Click on apply , and then click OK.

Restart the computer and check if this solves the problem. If this is not the case, proceed to the next method.

If the problem persists, try the following method.

    Method 2:

I suggest to reset Windows Firewall to the default settings and check if this solves the problem. Follow the steps to do this:

    • Press the Windows key + X and click on Control Panel.
    • Go in Windows Firewall > restore defaults.
    • Click the "Restore defaults" button to confirm the operation.
    • Restart the computer and check if it starts automatically.

If the problem persists, try the following method.

    Method 3:

Try to turn off installed third-party anti-virus (as applicable) in the system and check if it helps.

Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Hope this information is useful. Let us know if you need more help, we will be happy to help you.

    Hi SuePerry,

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

Method 1: You can run the fix it from the link below and check if it helps.

Diagnose and automatically fix problems of Windows Firewall service

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_firewall_diagnostic/en-us?EntryPoint=lightbox

Method 2: If the method above does not help, then you can refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article and check.

You cannot enable or disable the Windows Firewall setting on a Windows XP Service Pack 2

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/914230

Note: The firewall is software or hardware that checks information coming from the Internet or a network. Firewall blocks some information or allows information to pass to your computer. If the information is blocked or passed through depends on your firewall settings. A firewall can prevent malicious software (such as worms) to access your computer through a network or the Internet. A firewall can also help stop your computer from malware sent to other computers.

  • Remote Desktop win7 sharing - > XPPro only with firewall turned off?

I'm trying to set up a simple office remotely. All the computers are on a local network. I want to run the desktop sharing of my new Win7 box for my old XP Pro box. I just completely wiped and reinstalled XP Pro. Here's what happens:

With the firewall WE on the XP box, I can't use the computer name to connect. I get an error message. However, I can use the IP address to establish a remote desktop connection.

When I then disable the firewall in the XP box and close the session, I can also use the computer name to establish a connection. This connection is live, even if I then re-enable the firewall. But once I log in, I'm back using the IP address.

It seems to me that if something needs to be changed in the XP firewall, but what is?

Thanks for posting if you have an idea.

    Hi vistauser111,

We recommend that you change/reduce the security settings in Avira Security software and check the result.

Step 1: If the problem persists, we recommend that you visit the Windows updates to see if there are updates available for the remote desktop connection client and install it.
see How to keep your Windows up-to-date .

Step 2: If the problem persists, try the following steps and check the result:
    a. open the article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353
    b. method 2, follow steps 1 and 2, and then restart the computer to see if the problem persists.
    c. If the problem does not persist in the boot, then follow step 3 and step 4 to find out which is the origin of the problem, and once you have found the culprit, uninstall the program and check the result.

Note: Don't forget to follow the steps in the steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state"" section.

I will still have my firewall turned on and off I do not know why but I tried another firewall, and it seems to work ok

    Hey Roscoe,

If you're still using MSE, I doubt there's this problem.  This made a few changes to the Windows Firewall during installation (if necessary), but certainly nothing that would cause it to turn on and off like that.  It could be malware (malware can cause anything), but frankly more sounds like a file systems or corruption or some type of problem with your Windows Firewall or security setting or your operating system in a more general sense rather than the malicious software.  I will refer you to experts who specialize in this kind of thing, but if they tell you it's a malware problem, then come back here and we will be happy to help you solve it.

For that matter as described, please post here to get the best advice from specialists in this: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/security?tab=all which will be more than happy to help you.  You will probably need to uninstall the other firewall you have installed so they can diagnose the problem properly and without hindrance (not just disable it, but completely uninstall to be sure) - but they can tell you more on this subject.  Don't forget up next to the Windows Version to use the dropmenu to choose your version if you find yourself in the most appropriate forum for your system.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • "due to an unidentified problem, windows cannot display windows firewall settings" fixed but still can not visit some sites and the laptop now turns off the coast on me. What should I do?

I have an Apire one laptop with Windows xp service pace 3. I had to restore it to factory about 3 years ago. Some time after that the sound system began to slow and the Synaptics mouse stop working properly. I can move the pointer, but the left click does not work. It works in safe mode but not in normal windows. I used the Acer eRecovery for correct, but it did not work. I tried to download the driver for the mouse on the internet, but some how it could stop the download. I gave up at tring to fix. Some time in late March or early April, I couldn't access internet and after 22:30. I ran the diagnosis that is provided by internet explore and he said that the HTTP and HTTPS worked but the FTP did not work. AVG later told me my firewall is disabled and there was the possibility to reactivate it and I did. After internet explore stop allowing you to enter certain sites that I wanted to enter, I ran the Diagnostics again and he told me that a firewall client has been the cause of the problem. I tried to control my firewall setting, but had that "due to a problem not identified, windows cannot display the firewall settings". I thought AVG was the problem, so I have unintalled then he returned and attempted to access the firewall but got the same message. I typed in Google MySapce and found this site. I followed a few directions given to others in the thread started by joecarpenter33 and discovered that my firewall has been deleted and Base filtering engine has been deleted also. I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes ANti-Malware and SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition and tdsskiller. MBAM has found a Trojan. The results of the analysis is less to:

Still, he remains connected to the wirelesss connection, but won't let me access the internet. Right now I use a proxy to help, but access to the sites are limited.

I used the tweaking software and my firewall is back but, I have yet to visit some sites and the laptop now turns off by itself.

    Hello

    Follow these methods.

Turns off my firewall windows itself. I keep having to check that its on again?

    Hi c.kelly,

    ·         Which antivirus program is installed on the computer?

Method 1: Some antivirus programs have their own firewall and tend to turn off the Windows Firewall. Temporarily disable the antivirus program and check the issue.

Note: Please make sure that you enable the antivirus software after the test to keep your computer protected.

Method 2: You can run the Microsoft Safety Scanner to search for infection by the virus. Check out the following link to do the same thing.

Microsoft Safety Scanner - free online tool for PC health and safety

You can download and install Microsoft Security Essentials.
