Firewall Windows cannot change some of your 0x8007042c settings error code.

My Windows Firewall is turned off by itself and it won't turn. I receive the error message in the description. I was facing this problem since shortly after the installation of Windows 7. I tried the repair suggested here http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7security/thread/e5ee6823-98f8-4575-a254-00a038b17e34 .bat file but that did not work. I saw some errors when I ran the .bat file, but the window closed so quickly that I couldn't read. I'm at a total loss about how to correct this problem. I don't have a third-party firewall installed.

It worked when all else has failed... If you guys tried to start the services as stated in amrita and couldn't ' try this... It works... chk this link... what narenxp said.

    I tried to locate the "Windows Firewall" services in the service (in Services.msc) database, but this service is not listed. Help, please

    Thanks Robear,

    Today, I just made "Reset PC" to make it back to my factory setting (even if I lost all my data, but I've got to the top of it). Then, I used "Norton Removal Tool" to remove Norton who was there in orginal factory setting.

    Now, I tried to run "Windows Defender" & "Windows Firewall" both are running without any problem.

    Thank you much for the help.

    Hello

    What do you use for security?

    If you are using an Internet Security Suite, it will have its own firewall and disables the default Windows Firewall.

    And you should have only one firewall to avoid problems related to the operating system.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

    Malware to disable your firewall and your safety programs.

    Scan of Malware in Safe Mode with network.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-Windows-in-safe-mode/#Vista

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

    Once in Safe Mode with network, download and run RKill.

    RKill does NOT remove the malware; It stops the Malware process that gives you a chance to remove it with your security programs.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/

    Then, download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware in Mode safe mode with networking:

    See you soon.

  • "Windows Firewall cannot change some of your settings. Error code 0 x 80070424 ' how to fix this?

    I get this error: "firewall Windows cannot change some of your settings. Error code 0 x 80070424"when I try to turn on the Windows Firewall (Windows 7).  I am also unable to start my computer in safe mode.  My computer has been infected by the virus 'Win 7 Security 2012', which is what caused this damage to my system.  The virus also seems to have removed all the system restore points before the infection!  I believe that I have the virus completely deleted.  I used Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad-Aware, Kapersky Virus Removal Tool, antivirus Ati Avira (anti-virus program I was running when my computer has been infected by the virus) & Microsoft Security Essentials.  I ran the Scan SFC, a tool for emergency response Microsoft Support, Microsoft FixIt, ComboFix, & Tweaking.com Windows Repair all-in-One.  Repair Windows Tweaking.com seems to be turned Action Center back, where I now get a message that: "Windows Defender is turned off" & it does not seem to recognize MSE as my anti-virus program.  I need to know how to get Windows Firewall works again & get Action Center working properly again.  My computer has a partition with my Windows Recovery on it, but since I can't start in safe mode, I can not also start the restore partition to do a "repair" install, or even restore to factory settings!  Can anyone help?

    Also, when I use a search engine on internet, I get re-directed to a site that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the result of the research, and I click on... I am not that so that is proof that the virus is not COMPLETELY gone or not.

  • 0x8007042c error code: "Windows Firewall cannot change some of your settings.

    On this subject, I've seen the thread of Nov - Dec 2009. There was no alternative to then to reinstall Windows.  They mentioned the c:\windows\system32\drivers\mdsdrv.sys as file being missing.  Is it possible to get this driver and fix the problem?. Or is there a new fix for 2009?

    A lot has happened since your response on Dec 14.  I tried your last two suggestions without success.  Finally I got to the store (Best Buy). They spent more than a week to repair.  Apparently, they found a number of damaged system files. They finally got it fixed. I brought home, and it seems to work fine for less than a day, then the same problems.

    I got to Best Buy, and this time they completely erasing the hard disk and restored the computer to the factory State. Don't really know what caused the problem.

  • Windows Firewall cannot change some of your settings

    Just as the title says

    1.i don't care if you've had this problem unless you fixed and they say how.
    2.i have already gone to services, my filtering engine base is away and very well, my windows firewall service does not start and I have not even where windows firewall authorization driver thingie is.
    3. I tried this...
    Control Panel->
    Security systems of &->
    Administration tools->
    (scroll down for) Windows Firewall->
    Double-click Windows Firewall->
    Click on tab log on->
    Select this account->
    Search for a LOCAL SERVICE user (Advanced-> Find now-> LOCAL SERVICE)->
    did not work
    4.i already tried CFS scannow or something else... NOTHING! THAT'S HAPPENED.
    SO what now?

    Hello
    1 did you change on your computer before this problem?
    2. you receive an error message?

    3. have you installed any third-party software or a firewall on your computer?

    4. what exactly happens when you try to run the System File Checker?
    You can follow the methods and then check.

    Method 1
    You can follow the procedure.
    (a) click Start .
    (b) in the search box type Device Manager.
    (c) on the view tab , and then select hidden devices.
    (d) scroll down to 'firewall authorization Driver. "
    (e) click the drivers tab and make sure that the Startup Type is set to "Demand".

    Method 2
    You can run a virus scan.
    Microsoft safety scanner
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-AU/default.aspx
    Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. He also does the disk check, and you may lose the amount of data.

  • Home Premium 64 bit Ultimum 64-bit upgrade fails during execution. Error message: Windows cannot configure some components

    Upgrade problems. Home Premium 64-bit to 64-bit Ultimum.

    I tried several times to upgrade Vista Home Premium 64-bit Vista Ultimate 64-bit. It ends at until the end, but when it restarts, it says windows cannot configure some components and starts a restoration to Home Premium. So frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.

    Both Home Premium and Ultimate out of support in two months.  One company will receive technical support from Microsoft (security patches, etc.) after April.  Here is the political Support of Vista page.  'Not applicable' entries in the column of Extended Support mean that this edition is not eligible for updates, including critical security updates, after the end of standard support on April 10, 2012.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/?sort=PN&Alpha=Windows+Vista

    If you can, return your ultimate and buy business.  I realize that copies of business are becoming difficult to find.  Another option is to upgrade to Windows 7.  I suggest professional since Ultimate offer very little more than Pro (just the Bitlocker and multilingual support) and is also not intended for extended support after Windows 7 standard support ends after 2014.  Professional will extend support through 2019.

    Having said all this, I also had problems using the update with Vista installation option.  In many cases I resorted to the use of the custom installation option.  That does not work, but of course this means using Windows Easy Transfer to save your files and settings and reinstall your programs.  What I eventually learned with Vista upgrade can take all day even when all goes well, then there is not much time saved during a custom installation followed in any case of reinstalling the software.

    One thing you can try is to completely remove your anti-malware software.  Just turning it off is not enough because some antivirus programs install a watchdog on the part of the registry.  If something prevents the writing of registry entries at the end of the upgrade you so you would get a rollback.
