FireWire compatibility

I need to know if there is a firewire which can connect to two Mac models that are 10 years apart. My iMac, bought in January 2007, has finally konked off. It lights correctly. I am able to turn it on BUT it remains in the initial start-up when the screen remains white and the timer/cursor guard spinning wheel. I talked to Apple staff on the phone and ive been told I need to follow a few steps to make the old mac act as a HD just to save a few remaining files. I have to use a firewire for this port. Unfortunately, I didn't also changed the firewires. The one I have is 2007 type and incompatible with the latest model.  Ive looked around, but it is hard to tell from the pictures if that's the question I need. So the problem is what can do or what firewire can I use to connect 2 computers?

You need a FireWire 400 to 800 adapter and may need a FireWire 800 adapter Thunderbolt.

If I remember, the question I met was first introduced with the announcement of Logic Pro X was he needed El Capitan - which did not offer the divers "Core Audio" / support, which means that overall height (Firewire) would be uncertain if even not work at all.  "" Looking at the "tech specs" on Logic Pro X, it supports OS X 10.10.  That looks promising (if it in fact the issue with El Capitan and the lack of support for Core Audio driver still exists).

  • Compatable Firewire card?

Hey guys, I'm really stuck! I need a firewire card for a new PC (HP - Pavilion p6-2302eam desktop PC) to make it compatible with my focusrite saffire pro 14. I already tried this card and the conectors were too big: FIREWIRE 400 - IEEE1394a - TEXAS INSTRUMENTS - TI DOUBLE CHIPSET PCI CARD.

PC World said that it is and that I should avoid getting a card "low profile." I can't find an online support or after having had several telephone calls with different techniques to support teams.

Does anyone have experience with this kind of thig? If so, please help! Thank you

    KIX

The motherboard in your new PC can accept as PCIex1 firewire cards.

Here is a link to the cards you have purchase options that will fit in your PC.

You can see that they are short connectors compared to the standard PCI connector that yours has.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?submit=Ene & N =-1 & IsNodeId = 1 & Description = % 20firewire % 20card PCIe & Bop = and & Order = Rating & PageSize = 20

They do not have to keep a low profile, but do need to agree in the connector. Don't get one that isn't a standard mounting bracket.  These photo have before all the bracket that correspond to your PC.

Do not buy those that have a mounting bracket short research.

Here is a picture of the motherboard of your PC. You must install the card in one of these 3 little parallel black slots at the bottom of the image.

  • Pavilion G5470SC Firewire and Win 7 compatibility?

Hello, I am the proud owner of a Win7 64 bit desktop G5470SC kit, works very well, but as I will do a little bit with Pinnacle Studio to transfer some old movies my Panasonic GS120 camcorder (ca 2004) DV - I need a firewire adapter. This computer model doesn't have one as standard.

A Firewire/IEEE card is cheap here in Sweden, ca 20 USD, BUT I understand that this computer only has positions available housing for what is called PCI Express cards? I am considering buying the cards have standard PCI, not express. Did someone knows the difference and I can get a PCI card into a slot Express?  If this isn't the case, I'd appreciate some advice on compatible PCI Express FireWire cards that can work with the computer under Win 7 x 64.

    Best regards

Cards like these according to Newegg.com should give you a good start. Of course, you will need to find a local retailer or online source.

  • FireWire problems

Not having is not a good time with my computer at the moment but this particualr problem concerns Firewire. I used this system with great skill in the past, it's not working for me now, so I must be missing something.

I am wanting to transfer files to mac mini iMac Yosemite 10.7, tried repeatedly to alternating a computer game target and host ups (necessary because it went wrong when I thought that it should) but each time the best result is to see every HD clean machines on his own desk and not on the other machine.

    Don't use me keep trying.

My understanding was the target computer is the one that I want to transfer files and the other is the host? But it did not work that way or in the opposite direction.

Is there a compatibility issue please?

I enjoyed the simplicity of the FireWire in the past.

You start in disc Mode target (press T during startup) the Mac you want to copy the files. The internal drives on the Mac should shoup in the Finder on your other Mac.

  • Error 0xBFFF800B to the MAX with firewire cameras

    Hello

MAX lists all cameras connected by FireWire. But when I click on one to show configuration, MAX is held for several seconds, and then it brings a dialog:

    Error 0xBFFF800B
The session for your device could not be configured

The camera will now appear with a red x. Sometimes, the camera disappears from MAX and the Windows Device Manager a few seconds after this failure. It reappears after reconnection, but it againt fails to display the properties. Reboot is also not helped.

There are seven identical cameras connected, two of them work, others react as described. It does not matter on which FireWire port or what FireWire controller, the cameras are connected. It does not help when only one of the defective devices is connected.

I followed the advice of the first response in this thread:

I deleted the xml, the iid and the CIM located in "Documents and Users.Windows users/Shared Documents / National Instruments/NOR-IMAQdx/Data", but the behavior remains the same. Both cameras work

The compatibility test with CameraValidator.exe (see this KB) print "the Exception". For the cameras work, she passes and generates the report file.

Where else could be the problem?

    Greetings,

    SHB

Finally, the problem is found. The wires were the problem. 5 of 7 identical cables seem to not work at 400 Mbps. I tried different combinations of connections, but until today, I've changed mainly controllers and no cameras. If each device has always been connected to the same cable as long.

(Cables reached only at some devices photo at the end of the camera, at the end of the controller I could try all the combinations.)

Non-traditional pilots seem to have detected the defect at 400 Mbps, and limit the rate to 200 Mbps so (or 100 sometimes). But I thought it was a false reading of the capabilities of the camera. The former pilot did not switch to a lower rate, so communication failure.

For me, some puzzles remain. Why some cables work and others not? And why did downgrade the driver NOR-temporary IMAQdx?

    Anyway,...

... is the source of the problem. That's the key.

A big thank you to all who responded and gave some thoughts on the problem. (Above all thanks goes to Imaging because they always responded very quickly and Sources responsible.)

    Final greetings,

  • Firewire IEEE 1394 - lost installation Pulg-and - Play

I have two firewire devices. A DV video camera and a 1 TB hard drive. Since the installation of the hard disk, I lost two of my Firewire IEEE 1394 connections.

    I tried:

1 switch the DV camera and the hard drive, but the system does not detect the connection.

    2. I visited the Device Manager and checked the unit is activated and working properly.
    3. I'm sure the device driver is fully up-to-date.

I have a Firewire connection on the front and the back of my PC, and both do not work.

I am currently using my hard drive of 1 TB via a USB 2 port.

    Can anyone help

    See you soon

    Graham

    Hi Graham EF G,.

To check the State current, the DV camera and the external hard drive not detected? The external hard drive has worked successfully before? Please also relay if there are error messages when you try to access the external drive.

If devices are detected not below are some steps to solve the problem:

You can check that both devices are compatible with Windows Vista by visiting the Windows Vista Compatibility Center, which includes a list of drivers, hardware and applications that are compatible with Windows Vista.

For reference, the link to the Windows Vista Compatibility Center is included below:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/

Then, if the external hard drive is not detected in Device Manager, please check if the external drive is detected in the management of the computer:

You can check this by going to: start then click on computer

When it is connected and switched on, the drive should appear as a drive letter on the computer (ie: drive E:, F: or another letter.) An Autorun window may also appear if the drive is detected.

If the external drive does not appear, please check the following:

    ·         Check the power supply and check if it works normally.

    ·         Check the wiring and confirm that your USB/Firewire cable is plugged into a port. You can also try a different USB or Firewire port.

    ·         Check disk management to see if the drive is detected it:

    1. right click on computer, select manage, select disk management.

    2. check the upper and lower windows to find if the drive is detected.

If the external hard drive is not detected, try to connect the external drive to another PC to check if the unit is working normally.

Then please check if Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is installed currently.  If WVSP1 is not installed, you can try to install this service pack and check if the problem still persists.

For reference, the link below contains information. about how to obtain the latest Windows Vista service pack:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/935791/

If the problem is not resolved after the above steps, please see the link which includes a fix for the problem of an IEEE 1394 being more available device.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/930495

The relay please status after the above steps so that we will offer any additional assistance.

  • External hard drive on firewire not detected

    Hi guys!

Your help was my last option. I have a WD my book Studio 1 TB external drive that works very well with my laptop via USB, BUT NOT on firewire. Please advise on how to make it work. Already tried to troubleshoot based on KB948911 and KB927827 without success. In the method given in KB948911 I had no SBP2 in the registry, then utilisΘ USBSTOR (?).

    My configuration:

    Vista x 64 SP1 on HP 6710 b

WD external drive is connected via a 4 to 9 pin cable (on start connecting the WD, but no detection of Vista)

    Thank you

    AttilaO,

Although Microsoft works closely with many OEMs and parts 3d and worked by ensuring compatibility with hundreds of devices and applications Microsoft does not guarantee the functionality of these devices or applications. It is the responsibility of the OEM / 3rd party to provide drivers or updates for their products in order to make them work under Windows.

To refine the device that is causing the driver incompatibility, you will need to test your IEEE 1394 [firewire] device with another hard drive / material. Our recommendation is that you contact your manufacturer for assistance.

It's a long story! This is my 3rd Windows re - install after problems with Windows updates.

After the second installation of service packs2 to my Firewire driver disappeared. Windows then crashed. I reinstalled windows once, all updates have been installed, and now I want to connect my video camera.

Is it safe to try again? I can't to traverse a full Windows reinstall again.

    Hi emily_elizabeth,

First of all, make sure that the thread of the camera or a fire is compatible with Windows vista by using the Compatibility Center.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-Vista/

Also, make sure that you have installed the updated drivers for the video camera on the manufacturer's Web site and check the device manual for installation instructions.

  • need express pci card with firewire port laptop brand new

My wife has just bought a HP Pavilion model h8 - 1260t with Windows 7 64 bit.  She has a 30 "monitor film screen, which requires two USB ports, a DVI and Firewire 1394 port.  The new computer has no firewire port anywhere, but when it is opened, we see there are three slots PCIexpress available.  There are PCIe cards available 1394 (such as Rosewill PCIe model 3 Ports 1394 b RC-506E, as seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815166027), , but there seems to be a wide variety, and I don't know which to buy.

I am concerned about what transfer speed to get (I don't really know; is good enough 800Mbps?) and what power connector on the card (I want to be sure we have a power supply compatible plug) will take place, and I don't know the difference between 1394 and 1394b, or even if it makes a difference.  I can't just take the card out of the old computer because the firewire port is connected directly to the motherboard, and I think that the old computer is still pre-PCIexpress

The monitor is very good and quite expensive, so we really do not want to have to buy a new screen after spending so much on the computer.  I thought I had checked for compatibility with everything, but I guess I missed the requirement of firewire.  We spent almost all day today trying to get help in various stores, but nobody seems to be able to help.  We had to buy the computer online because there is no good nearby computer store, so I want to do ot I do not another mistake and end up buying two or three cards until I find myself on the whole correct.

Thanks a lot for any help

    Hello

If you cannot find a molex connector 4 unused and then look for a connector used 4 pins.  I would certainly find an adapter in Y for you.  The other option is to use an adapter SATA Y more than molex and tap into the hard drive power cable, or even use an unoccupied SATA power port.

  • I installed a firewire card on my pc windows 8 and come to find out that there is no driver available for my Panasonic pv103 dv compatible camcorder.

Since there is no compatable driver with my camcorder and windows 8, I searched online for a usb digital-to-analog converter.  I just realized that I can't find an a d converter that is compatible with windows 8 either (at least at a reasonable price).

I brought the computer to edit video on - and so far I can't.

    Hello

Is the problem with the Firewire card or camcorder?

Whatever it is, you can try to install in Compatibility Mode for an earlier version of windows...

You could also try right click on the Installer (installation-installation-whatever) for the device file problem and select troubleshoot compatibility. Just follow the instructions in the wizard.
