  I see a strange problem when you try to add a new disk to a virtual computer via powershell

  I use the following commands:

  Add-PSSnapin VMware.VimAutomation.Core

  to connect-viserver-Server $MyVC

  Everything simply jump beyond the error is not good because it is impossible to find the following commands:

  The term 'Get - VM' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or an executable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path has been included, make sure the path is correct, and then try again.

  OK, I was kind of what went wrong here.

  The snap has been loaded from a powershell module. When the module is removed and added again, the snap ceases to function, but also can not be added again.

  If the snap is loaded first outside the module everything works fine until you try never to remove or add snap-in module.

  I opened a case with VMware on a problem using PowerCLI. And pretty well, they said that they do not support scripts... But the error is not related to any script. It is related to the first command I run against one of our Vcenter and we have 6 of them.

  Everything worked well until we went from 4.1 to 5.1

  I can connect to our VCenter fine, but the first command always give an error and fail to the powercli but the task still occur in vCenter.

  When it gets ugly, is we have several powershell script to maintain and automate our environment but now these script fail.

  Example, we have a script to deploy the VM model and then configure the appropriate hardware configuration and add Notes and custom attributes. But the script fails after that deployment so the rest will not run. It will be possible that deploy us to the first virtual machine.

  So for 'Band-aid' question, I added a line to my script to start a virtual dummy machine, to make sure that what is in the script will work fine.

  I have a 5.5 esxi server just the a virtual machine running at the moment. I try to clone this as shown below:

  I have no vcenter (yet), and it's just the 1 vm. The virtual machine is turned off. I get this error regardless of the name, I said that when I choose "add to the inventory.

  you read bad advice on the internet and then you get also the stupid advice here.

  Ignore both!

  If you want to clone a virtual machine by copying - do it like this:

  Create new virtual machine with the wizard.
  Skip creating a disk for new customers.

  In Datastorebrowser copy the original vmdk to the new dir, which has been created by the wizard.
  Reopen the new VM and edit - assign the vmdk that you just copied.

  The procedure of the blog is not supposed to work.

  1 original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Activation is also known under the name of OA. It's basically OEM activation of basic input/output system (BIOS) - which means that they have already activated and you don't need to enter the key and activate yourself.

  2. you will only be able to activate a copy of Windows 7 with the number of product key used for 64-bit or 32-bit version at the same time, not both. It will allow only a copy installed with him to be activated.   I have a file of similar to an ini file setting. I can read with the toolslib inifile.

  A [SPLINE] section has a lot of variable, number, lines all begin with DATA =. The line of these data is read as a string. The content is 3 values as input for a spline interpolation.

  Inifile labwindows Analyzer can read that and he can write it. The number of elements in the section [SPLINE] equals the number of rows of DATA. When he writes, he recreates [SPLINE] section with several items that all as DATA begin =.

  Now I want to read later, each of these DATA items, retrieve the values of three and put them in some tables.

  The ini_get('sendmail_from') functions have as input a sectionname and an itemname. So when I use Ini_GetPointerToString, I always get the first occurrence of this itemname or always the first line.

  How can I get the second and third... String?

  Thanks to you two.

  Because the ini library has been able to export the complete set of data, including multiple DATA key, I had little hope that there is an easy way to use this library. Your comments, it is not useful to look for a work around.

  In the meantime, I found an another iniparser (http://ndevilla.free.fr/iniparser/). It doesn't "support" no double keys, but I can probably it adapt for my application. If not, I'll take a few excerpts from the library labwindows and this second example and have to build my own.

  I use the vSphere Client Desktop for remote access to a VMware host if SSH tunneling. Basically, I aim at the customer 'localhost' and it is redirected via the SSH tunnel on the server at the other end.   I usually always could access the things just fine, but recently, I replaced the remote server with a new one.  Off the old, I changed my SSH tunnel to point to the new server.  The client is connected correctly, and I can see the virtual machine and work very well with the host country.  However, if I try to open a remote console, I get an error saying "failed to check SSL for 'mylocalmachinename.domain.com' due to incompatibility of fingerprint digital host: stored fingerprint '< checked again footprint esxi host >' does not imprint of cert" < imprint of mystery which does not correspond to a new host * or * former > ' I still find from this certificate thumprint!  I can get remote consoles on those virtual machines to machines that are the on the host, but not this remote workstation.  This * feels * like a sort of updated certificate cached somewhere, but I can't find of it empty.  I checked the registry and the thumbprint for the remote server is correct.  The part of remote console of the vsphere client there is thumprint own cache somewhere?

  MEH.  Response proved to be something completely independent and stupid.  There is a process running in my system that was also listening on port 443.  Why it intervened with the virtual console only and not the main customer I have no idea, but stopping did the trick.  It was another application I had installed some time ago and off it, I realized that I don't think that I actually * tried * run a console on the old vmware remote host because I installed this application.  It has probably been broken for a while now and I barely noticed.    So... Yes... too bad.
