First router users Questions

It's my all first time owning and you use a router, so I have a few questions that I would ask.

1. my router connects (with flashing lights) constantly, or should it be unplugged when not in use?  (By fear it overheats).

2. If I stay connected to a wireless port of my router at all times (on any given computer), he eats my bandwidth even if I'm not surfing the internet?

Thank you if you answer these questions a little silly. XD

For a first time router owner questions are quite normal. You can't cut anything and the security post is a good tip. If your main concern is the bandwidth, you don' t want your neighbors it devours. Insofar as your LAN or LAN you can leave that as well without any problem of bandwidth. (Although with wireless operate in some connectivity issues) Try not to confuse LAN with WAN. LAN = network, WAN is you ISP a.k.a your bandwidth. Finally your WEP key (which is what I assume you enter whenever you sign out) you can leave in and click 'Disconnect' or you enter it each time

But I can't activate it. It is not available for novice users and if not, how can I safely uninstall? I really want to try before you buy the full version and did not know that I need a serial number to install.

You don't need a serial number for trielas. If it has expired, something was wrong.

  • First time user VMware - perhaps a silly question re: server hardware

    Thus,.

I started using VMware a couple of days for the tests. I have a client who has VMware ESX Server 3i installed they have a HP Server and I have a Dell Server I installed the same version of VMware ESXi.

If I download their images run on Dell Server? Or is it that there is a problem?

PS - Sorry if this is a silly question

    Chris,

That's what VMware call the independence of the material. http://www.VMware.com/virtualization/virtual-machine.html#c25953

Basically, your VM has no knowledge of what is running on the hardware - so feel free to move to Dell for HP hardware and back.

However - vMotion, the displacement of an engine on the virtual machine from one server to another server requires similar processors on both hosts.

    I hope this helps.

Phase 2 is a newer, updated version to date.  However, please note that NONE of these are as complete as the Guide provided with the newest premium emulator.  Install the emulator most recent, then click on help / User Guide and you will get a PDF document including the first 616 PDF pages are the same document Phase 2 above, but then it is followed by more than 334 pages called "User Guide supplement" containing brand new information about the last update.  It is the document that you want, not the ones on the page web link above.

If I read your post correctly, I guess the account you were using was the original administrator account which can be renamed.  When you create a 2nd account, it is normal that Windows hide the original at this point administrator account.  Rename the user administrator does not rename the profile, so you will probably find your files in 'Administrator' in the folder c:\documents and settings\.  This may be the reason why your account is hidden.

If this is the case, to log in to your original account, when you get to the opening of session "Welcome" with only the 2nd account, press Ctrl-Alt-Del twice.  This should bring up a login screen 'classic '.  Try typing your user name and password in the boxes and see if you can connect.

If you can connect and want two accounts to display, you need to create another profile and transfer your files/data in this additional profile and leave the original hidden administrator account.  To do this, pretend that your hidden account profile is corrupt and follow one of the following procedures:

  • EA4500 and OJ8600 of HP printer router interface questions all in one.

Hello I am running IE11, WIN8.1, 1 TB HD, 12 GB of memory with EA4500 router from Linksys connected to the computer via an Ethernet cable.  The computer is a Lenovo desktop (K430). I ran a test installation of HP troubleshooting on the interface between the computer and EA4500.  I opened my Linksys Smart Wi - FI to perform the following two tasks. The HP Installation troubleshoot suggested I should put MAC address filtering to off I did without any problems. Installation troubleshooting HP also suggested I have find the MAC address of my printer and add it to my list of devices that are allowed to access my networh. How can I do this? Thank you.

You should make a print from the printer setup page and who should detail you information on MAC and IP addressing. I recommend not to use Mac filtering because it is not necessary. I recommend that you configure a static IP address ON the printer, 192.168.1.86, that should be the default value of routers outside main pool DHCP de.100 thru.199. You will need to refer with the Lim and information on how to establish networks and set up the printer. Consult the user manual as well.

  • I lost my router user name and the password and reset does not have without the router

I haven't used my router wireless of Linksys WRT54G v5 for about 1 1/2 years and he needs now to a new place.

I put a username and password I forgot for a long time for access to the web according to the security protocols for the modem and I lost the disc for the program control protocol.

I tried pressing the reset button to clear the modem and it took the WPA Protocol off the power to the modem, so I can use it without any security, but this isn't a good thing.

Help! How do unlock it so I can get to the security protocols and put back the security on my modem?

To release your router to your previous settings.

RESET the router the button is @ the back of it.

Connect a computer to one of the ports numbered on the router.

Access the UI of it http://192.168.1.1

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for details on the issue.

Windows may freeze if multiple programs are running at the same time or if Windows is infected by a virus or malware.

I suggest you to execute the resolution of performance issues and check if that helps.
    Reference:
    Open the troubleshooter of Performance
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-performance-Troubleshooter

It checks issues that could slow down the performance of your computer, such as how many users is currently connected to the computer and if multiple programs are running at the same time.

Please also run Microsoft safety scanner to check and remove any viruses or malware that may cause the problem.
    Reference:
    Microsoft safety scanner
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    I hope this information helps.

Please let us know if you need more help.

    Thank you

  • First three steps Questions with RV180

I recently bought the router RV180. I have a few quick "getting started" questions about its use:

    1. is the "static DHCP" screen I need to use in order to reserve addresses DHCP (see attachment)? That's where I was reserving all my DHCP addresses with. I'm just that I have the correct screen.

    2. what I have to do something for my setup of "backup", or my settings will always be around every restart of the RV180?

    3. I have to run a check on the RV180 firmware update and how can I update the firmware on the RV180 (as well as the SG200-18), or it usually comes with the latest out-of-the-box firmware? If I get ahead and put a contract on the RV180 and the SG200-18 service, will I automatically receive my updates? Are numbers of reference for service contracts the same for the RV180 and the SG200-18?

    Thank you!

    Hello

    1. is the "static DHCP" screen I need to use in order to reserve addresses DHCP (see attachment)? That's where I was reserving all my DHCP addresses with. I'm just that I have the correct screen.

Yes, this is the right place to set DHCP reservations.

    2. what I have to do something for my setup of "backup", or my settings will always be around every restart of the RV180?

Whenever you click on save after completing a change you configuration is saved and will survive a reboot.

If you want to save the backup copy of your file from your Setup simply go in Administration > backup/restore settings.

You must manually update the firmware of the RV180.  This firmware is available here:

    Firmware RV180

It is simply a file, you download under Administration > Firmware Upgrade.  There is no bootcode for routers (as if he was with the switch)

You can find this in the future in the same way you SG200 firmware (because this link may change) on Cisco's Web site.

Regarding the service contract, the part number for two of these machines will be CON-SBS-SVC2.

Hope that helps and I will try to get to your other questions sometimes today as well.  Also since you have purchased you are of course welcome to call and get support by phone, your two devices come with 1 year of technical support, and it looks like you have found or contracts, so I guess that make only 3 years.

  • Based on the IOS VPN Lan-to-Lan (NAT and route map Questions)

    Hello world

I worked on my review of CCNA security and I have a question about this stage

    LAN1 192.168.0.0/24---(routeur HQ)--10.10.10.0/30--(INTERNET)--20.20.20.0/30--(routeur Branch) - LAN2 192.168.1.0/24

I use 10.10.10.0/30 and 20.20.20.0/30 networks assuming that these are public addresses (is just a laboratory).

I read that if I want to make the VPN tunnel while I using NAT I must exclude valuable traffic from the NAT process so I look on the database of cisco for more help and I found this (look at the 3660 router configuration):

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a008045a2d2.shtml#T1

so, I applied this config for my routers, so the config is:

IP nat inside source map route sheep interface fastEthernet0/1

    access list 110 deny ip 192.168.0.0. 0.0.0.255 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255

access list 119 permit ip 192.168.0.0. 0.0.0.255 any

    sheep allowed 10 route map

    corresponds to the IP 110

I didn't really understand who is using the command route-map here, so I made this configuration:

IP nat inside list sheep interface FastEthernet0/1

    sheep extended IP access list

    deny ip 192.168.0.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255

    Licensing ip 192.168.0.0 0.0.0.255 any

Two of them worked I could translate my LAN addresses to the public to address internet and also could establish the VPN tunnel. So my questions are:

    1. What is the purpose of the road-map command?

    2. What is the difference between these two configuration?

    3. which one I should use and in what cases?

    Thanks in advance

    Jose

    Jose,

Very good questions and in fact no need to the road map it.

Personally, I like using course maps because it allows much more flexibility than simply ACL setup, but in order to bypass the NAT source IPs, there is no need of route-maps and you can do this with the ACL directly.

I personally always use road-maps just because I can (route-maps are cool) haha

Route-maps are very useful in other scenarios where you need to put more of conditions or factors.

Remember that it is almost always more than one method to accomplish a task... which is one of those cases.

    It will be useful.

    Federico.

I have a Dell laptops 5520 during the first boot, I created an Admin account and set the timezone, etc.  Then I joined laptops to our AD domain, software installed, such as Microsoft Office 2010 and Adobe.  Laptops have worked for a few weeks and now containing several profiles of my domain users.  All of a sudden, some laptops from start-up to the original Admin Login (the first user created).  When I connect, the NetBIOS shows is more that the laptop is part of a domain, and none of the applications that are installed are listed in all programs more (programs and profiles of school boards, however, still exist on the hard disk).  I have system restore disabled by GPO, and I limit the applications of the Panel as well.  I contacted Dell and they have never heard of this issue.  If I join the laptop to the field, he finds the original computer account but this does not all installed software and profiles will reappear.  Here is Windows 7 Professional on a Windows 2008 domain.  Any ideas?

Your permit for 105 ACL statement should be down is changed to match because it is the most general ACL.

    You currently have:

Extend the 105 IP access list
    5 permit ip 172.19.194.0 0.0.0.255 (18585 matches)
    10 deny ip 172.19.194.0 0.0.0.255 172.19.206.0 0.0.0.255 connect
    30 deny ip 172.19.194.0 0.0.0.255 172.19.203.0 0.0.0.255 connect
    50 deny ip 172.19.194.0 0.0.0.255 172.19.209.0 0.0.0.255 connect

    It should be:

Extend the 105 IP access list
    10 deny ip 172.19.194.0 0.0.0.255 172.19.206.0 0.0.0.255 connect
    30 deny ip 172.19.194.0 0.0.0.255 172.19.203.0 0.0.0.255 connect
    50 deny ip 172.19.194.0 0.0.0.255 172.19.209.0 0.0.0.255 connect

    IP 172.19.194.0 allow 60 0.0.0.255 (18585 matches)

To remove it and add it to the bottom:

    105 extended IP access list

    not 5

    IP 172.19.194.0 allow 60 0.0.0.255 any

Then ' delete ip nat trans. "

    and it should work now.

  • Squarespace user. Want more options on my site. Adobe has tutorials on Java Script, HTML, and CSS? [was: new user Question!]

    Hello!

I am a new user to adobe creative cloud. I'm a Web site manager for pge production broadcast in my school and I use squarespace but I want to upgrade and have more opportunities with my websites. Adobe has tutorials on Java Script, HTML, and CSS?

Not in the way, I think you mean. There are a number of very generous gurus on this forum that will help hard problem solve you your code, and the best way to learn is always, spoil, figure it out and move on to the next thing. :-)

Googling a question will generally help to guide you on the right track and you can always visit W3 Schools or Code Academy for free tutorials or check if there is a Free Code Camp in your area. Sources for tutorials or classes are Lynda.com, Noble of officeand the General Assembly.
