Fixed IP address assignment to a PAP2T

PAP2T hung in the WRT54G. When I put the config PAP2T DHCP = Yes, it works fine, but the router assigns a dynamic IP address. When I put the PAP2T for DHCP = No and provide a fixed IP, subnet mask and gateway, it does not connect to the host of VOiP. What should I do to make this work?

Reason: My VOiP provider said I should use the port forwarding on the router for some audio problems. The other day, the router got turned off and now VOiP is assigned to a different IP address. I need to correct the address to avoid such problems in the future.

When you assign a fixed ip address, you must also define the addresses of the DNS servers.

Some routers will also allow you to specify a specific (fixed) local network address mac - id-based.  This is another way to solve the problem.

You can configure a server that is not intended to host a Web site, but only a few features such as sharing files, ftp, calendar, etc., with only a fixed IP address? If Yes, what is the simplest step by step through OS x.app for el Capitan?

The short answer is: Yes you can! However, do not use the local point in your full domain name as it is reserved for the Hello. I would also advice against the use of the private area of dot, but rather to get and use a registered domain space. The reasoning behind it: you may change your mind later, normally sooner rather than later!

Now for the nitty gritty: there are several excellent resources available on the net and in the App Store.

I will quote a couple for you:

http://krypted.com/guides/El-Capitan-Server/ by Charles Edge , who is also the author of a few very good books

I highly recommend the three books by Reid Bondonis available on the App Store for El Capitan. They are worth every penny.

Then there's the series of video tutorials by Todd Olthoff at http://www.toddolthoff.com/technology/ECS10.11.html

  • I decided to change to a fixed IP address, but I was told to check first our intruder devices

original title * search for the intruder

Hello, in the last month, we have every time new problems of sending e-mails with attachments, particularly to the Hotmail and G-mail accounts. The emails simply cannot, without any error message. Reason is that I think that we are on the blacklist every time again. I decided to change to a fixed IP address, but I was told to check first our intruder devices that can use our computers. My question is: How can I do this?

    Hi HelenPeterse,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

Are you still facing the question to send Emails?

    1) go to your user accounts and see if there is all unknown accounts that are administrator. If so, delete the accounts. Make sure that you have an administrator account that you created and change the password if you are the only person who knows the password.
Then, remove all the accounts that you are not familiar with or don't want on your computer. Do not remove a network Service or Local Service account.
Do not delete the account administrator, or system or comments. However, you can disable the guest account.

    (2) change your passwords every day until you know you're is more compromised.

    (3) right click on the taskbar and open the tasks to the top manager. Go to the users tab. There you can see if there are other users logged on to your computer. If you are not familiar with users, select the account and disconnect the user.

    (4) get your computer course before you go out on the internet. Only to connect to the internet when necessary. You can disable your router if you are not on your computer.
If you use wireless, make sure that you use the most secure authentication type.
Change the passwords on routers as most ships with a password. Change the router password so that no one else has the password. Check with the documentation for the router on how to change your password.

Hope this information helps and if you have interviewed more associated with Windows do not hesitate to post on Microsoft Community we will be happy to help you.

  • Extended to Airport Extreme Ethernet ports not IP address assignment.

I have an Airport Extreme as my basic router and another Airport Extreme and an Airport Express, which runs from the router.

Since the extended Airport extreme, I have an Ethernet Hub and a Macbook Pro connected via an Ethernet Port, but every time I attach any device to the ethernet port on the Airport Extreme of the device has an auto assigned IP.

Although, when I'm attached to the long terminal Airport Express, it's the IP assignment correctly.

Is a way I can make the Airport Extreme to assign the IP address?

Is a way I can make the Airport Extreme to assign the IP address?

The two airports 'extension'... the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express... are in Bridge Mode when they "extend a wireless network".  DHCP (the process of allocating IP addresses... is disabled when a device is in Bridge Mode... it's up to your "main" AirPort Extreme to assign all IP addresses to network devices.)

The 'extension' airports simply pass the IP address information to connected devices... the devices 'extension' assign IP addresses themselves.

Since the AirPort Express works correctly, it seems that the 'extension' AirPort Extreme is the culprit.  From what you have told us, it seems that if the Ethernet switch on the device is not working properly. We learn more about this unit before us to jump to conclusions.

    (1) what is a newer version of the 'tour' of the AirPort Extreme or an older version of 'flat' or 'square' to the extreme?  If it is the old version, we need the model number of the bottom of the unit.  It starts with an "A" followed four digits.

    (2) when you connect an Ethernet cable to one of the Ethernet ports to the extreme that extends, is the little green light next the port light?

    (3) what operating system you are using on the Mac or the PC that you use to configure the airports?

  • Static IP address assignment to a device? (An XBox)

I'm trying to set up my XBox One to broadcast remote but I am completely ignorant when it comes to networking and rely the economy on the default settings. There seem to be three main parts to this process described here:

    - Port forwarding (which was explained by DexterJB. (Thank you!)

-Allocating an address static IP to the device (This step)

    - and implementation of dynamic DNS

I was wondering if someone would be willing to walk me through step of assigning a static IP address to a device, which in this case is my XBox One.

I really wanted to know that for a while for other devices, but do not know if it is a thing of router or a computer thing. I'd appreciate any help.

    Hi @varxtis,

    You are welcome!

Instead of setting a static IP address for your XBOX, you can make a reservation address so that the XBOX will have a compatible IP for port forwarding you have done. You can refer to the link below for the steps on how to do it.

  • static IP address assignment to TiVo on BEFSR41 router

    Hello

I'm trying to put in place a couple of TiVo cable already on my home network so I can 'see' on my Mac using the TiVo Express of Toast Titanium function and copy the TiVo on my Mac programs.   TiVo technical support suggested that the problem is that my Mac IP address is 198.162.1.100 (assigned automatically) and for some reason some of my TiVo is on 198.162.0.2 et.0.3.  They suggested that I have manually assign a static IP address for the for put them in 'sync' with my Mac address - that is to say, something in the range 198.152.1.xxx of TiVo.

I was able to assign a static IP address of 198.162.1.109 to the head of the TiVo (and my Mac is still not see it), but I received an error message when I tried to assign 198.162.1.110 to the other TiVo.   Technical support suggested I check with you on assignment of the IP address via the router.  Can you tell me if this is possible and if so, how?

    Thank you!

If the TiVo is Gets an IP 192.168.0.2 or similar when using dynamic/DHCP/Auto IP addresses means the TiVo is connected to a different router or get an IP address from another DHCP server.

    1. Please check your wiring. Your modem should connect to the internet, the port of the BEF everything is connected to the BEF. If the modem has additional LAN ports, a modem/router combo device. Do not use additional ports on the modem/router combo.

    2. If wiring is OK, as previously indicated another reason for a 192.168.0.2 automatic address IP sharing a computer inside your network that has been configured for an internet connection. With internet connection sharing you can share an internet connection through this computer. To do this, the computer will assign 192.168.0. * IP addresses on its side LAN. Please check your computers if there is one that has internet connection sharing enabled.

  • Only 1 of the 2 computers in my LAN recognizes my static IP address assigned by my ISP - HELP!

I have an IP address from my ISP, but only one of the two computers in my LAN presents this static IP address in the "ipconfig" and it connects to the internet, the other computer Watch has "169.254.XXX.XXX' IP address and does not connect to the internet.  How can I fix it? I don't know much about the TCP/IP settings.  OS is XP Pro SP3.  I have a DSL router from single port connected to a simple switch 5 ports, then two CAT5 cables will switch on both computers.

    Thanks for your help!

    derisk

    Hello

Two computers cannot connect to the same connection using the same IP address. Each computer on the network must have its own unique IP address.

You need to get a cable/DSL router. Configure the WAN port (Internet) side with your static IP address and connect all the computers the and other equipment network on the side of the router LAN.

Generally, it looks like this, http://www.ezlan.net/network/router.jpg

P.S. You don't need to use the wireless if you do not, it is very difficult to find a new wireless router.

  • Determine the IP address assigned to the laptop using SONICWALL VPN to connect to the network

    Hello

How can I determine assigned by DHCP IP address internal LAP assigned to a laptop computer after that it connects to our network. We use the client VPN Sonicwall.

For example, our model of IP network is 10.11.12.x. I guess that any VPN client PC Gets a 10.11.12.x address once the connection is established.

    Thank you!

Click Start (or press the Windows key) and type cmd , and then press Ctrl_Shift + enter together. This will launch a prompt with high privileges. Acknowledge the UAC warning and provide credentials if necessary. Once you have the command prompt window use this command at the command prompt.

    IPCONFIG/ALL

If you don't have administrator access on your computer, use cmd with just Enter and this simple command at the prompt window.

    IPCONFIG

You get your address IP LAN, just not all the information available.

To answer your previous post, you have no need create control2.

I think that you need on the trunk of your gig0 on the router interface. Try:

    mode trunk switch

Let me know if this does not work.

  • "The DNS server is not responding", but I had problems when I tried the fixed IP address. Help!

    Hello

With some networks, all is well, connected and has internet access.  In other places, like where I am now, I can connect to a network, but I can't access the internet.  I tried the long fix recommended on the community of Miscrosoft, start by entering cmd at the beginning and then dealing with IP addresses, but I kept getting "Media disconnected" and where he would have had this connection to the Local network #, 0.0.0.0 or something else, I saw that anywhere.  He just said Local Area Connection * 12 because I remember and then was something like 00000000000000E at the bottom of the entry.  I also tried the method 2, use the control panel and the connection of LAN, but then 'properties' properties of it has not been highlighted, so I couldn't continue.  Windows 7 laptop.  Help!

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think I have solved it!  I use your method 1 and took the link to Microsoft Support.  Then, I used their method 2 (TCP/IP configuration settings), without success.  But I just had an intuitive idea, so I tried again, but do not click on the Local network connection, I clicked on the network, I try to use, Fairpoint-etc, went in and saw that Internet Protocol Version 4 was not set to automatically obtain DNS server address.  So I chose that, hoping that I didn't just kill my computer and voila!  Internet access is here!  We'll see if it stays.

Where it rises again if, because you asked, Yes, I am using a wireless connection and my anti-virus is Avira.  Out of curiosity, is this good antivirus, or is there something better that is also free?  Thank you very much

  • RV042 router multiple WAN IP addresses assigned to different ranges of LAN IPs

I would like to have them assigned to different LAN IPs and multiple WAN IP addresses. If I used the special option NAT its give me only the LAN IP 192.168.1.xxx. There is an option to specify more than one LAN IPs but it is not possible to transfer the ports of these additional LAN IPS or installation rules.

Is any way to eat this with this router. If this is not the case, what is the router that will meet my needs?

    Andreas,

Unfortunately what your want to do does not work with the rv042.  It will allow only one to one nat rules apply for the local network subnet by default.

You can use the sa500 series router that will allow you to make ip aliases to different lan subnet addresses.
