  I have Windows Media Player version 12 installed but when you try to play .mp4 files in WMP, I hear the sound but the picture is distorted and I can't see the picture.  Please see image attached.

  Even if I see that I can change the version of the file in a different format, I have the same problem with videos on websites that I can not of course change the format before playing these.

  I managed to fix the problem for about 20 minutes by flattening my computer re - install the operating system and this resolved until all updates have been through, and then it disappeared again.  I tried many codecs packs and this still does not help.

  My system is running Windows 7 and Media Player version is 12.0.7601.18840, which tells me that Media Player is the most recent version.

  Please can someone help?

  

  Open uninstall a program in windows and in the left click on the feature to turn on or off windows. Clear the check box of the window Media Player, and then click ok. This will uninstall the drive, and then restart.

  After restarting the same steps, now, check the box for the same and perform a restart and if all goes well it should solve the problem.

  Note: Make sure that Windows is up-to-date.

  After importation, all 'frames' are present, but the picture is blank (gray). When I tried to edit in Photoshop CC, it opens correctly. Tried to delete CC with cleaning tool. Re-installed with the same question. Repeated twice with the same consistent result.

  Photos opening are exported during the migration process and opens in Preview/Photoshop. Tried with a variety of photos with the same result as well.

• On Qosmio F30 TV tuner works but the picture is bad

• Laptop screen turns off but the system never sleeps when closed.

  I have a laptop Alienware M14x and quite frequently when I close my laptop, the screen turns off but the system will not. When I reopen it, the screen stays off and the system seems still to go but no matter what I press on, the screen does not turn. To fix it, I just turn it off power then back on the power button. I know that my laptop is still running because the fans are still running and the lights on the front and on the keyboard are lit. I don't know if this is a problem common or not, but it's really annoying.

  Any help would be greatly appreciated! If there are other details that might help, do not hesitate to ask!

  Firstly I find a windows command can tell you if you have something that prevents the mode 'sleep'. Run as administrator command window and use the command: powercfg-query.

  If you have my problem and SRVNET is active, you will see this:

  SYSTEM:
  [DRIVER] \FileSystem\srvnet
  An active remote client recently sent requests for this machine.

  2. to add SRVNET to the exempt list, do the following at the command prompt (EXACTLY as shown below.)  DRIVER MUST be written in capital letters):

  powercfg - requestsoverride DRIVER '\FileSystem\srvnet' system Awaymode

  and for good measure (not sure if necessary but I did anyway)...
  
  powercfg - requestsoverride DRIVER "srvnet' system Awaymode

  3. once all is said and done, it should look like this after you run:

  powercfg - requestsoverride

  [DRIVER]
  \FileSystem\srvnet SYSTEM AWAYMODE
  srvnet SYSTEM AWAYMODE

  4 enjoy again the "sleep mode".

  About 1 month ago I have updated Flash and Firefox to newer versions. Firefox 34.0.5, running on Windows XP, SP3, displays Adobe Flash plugin in version 16.0.0.235, but it is now blocked again. No other versions of Flash are obvious. When I choose the screen Flash option to check the plugins are updated, Firefox reports the Flash plugin is up to date.
  This program's behavior is wrong and needs to be fixed. Review at Adobe, current Flash is 16.0.0.305.
  Who or what is broken here? Is Firefox broken and not properly related this newest version of the Flash plugin is available?
  I do not seem to previous versions of Flash installed on the system. This combo of the software was working properly for a while and then become broken, without path appropriate to allow users to resolve the issue. If Firefox is set to 'Block' a plugin, then it * MUST * be configured to easily and * CORRECTLY * allow this plugin to update. Using the latest software, my clicking on the function of "Check for updates" is reporting that Adobe Flash is the most recent version. Arrrrgh!
  I am now back to the "diagnose and repair broken Flash + Firefox" exercise that I just went thru.
  Best solution here would be to allow the user to easily override the mechanism of 'blocking' This could help users who use only access Flash video on trusted sites.
  If there is an obvious solution to this 'blocking' current Flash goofery, please inform. Otherwise, when I solve this problem, I'll post an answer to my own question here, stating what I did to solve this problem, because it seems to have an impact on other users Firefox + Flash, without a clear solution being posted.

  OK, fixed. You must manually update for Adobe Flash 16.0.0.305. Do this downloaded by the installation program Adobe Flash, for WIndows with plugin browsers. Closing Firefox, run the Adobe Flash Installer and restart Firefox, you should see the plugin Flash is now 16.0.0.305. I use Windows XP - SP3, on an old HP box. Seems to work ok now (video sites course streams without incurring of autoblocking). Inspection of network traffic shows smoother bandwidth also.

  Steps to follow:

  (1) download the latest version of the Flash plugin installed, for Windows with plugins, if you are using XP - SP3. Try to get the full 18 meg installer of Flash player.
  I followed a number of different links and eventually got to a page
  who has several options for different operating systems and versions
  the browser used. I chose Flash for Windows Setup with
  browsers that use plugins (as opposed to Windows IE/ActiveX).
  I can't find the exact URL that has the 16.0.0.305 plugin. I'll post
  the URL as a post follow-up, once I found where Adobe has it.

  The file you want is:
  'install_flash_player_16_plugin.exe '.

  Note, date 11 February 2015, the version I downloaded
  called 'install_flash_player_16_plugin.exe' is 18,129,584 bytes.

  I ran "md5sum" on it, and got:
  

  "1bca2e01063de6925c01b21abf9654d8" as the value of control.

  (2) Download this prgm (install_Flash_player_16_plugin.exe), and
  put it anywhere where you put the .exe files downloaded.

  (3) exit Firefox.

  (4) or use the "Run" box, or click a "cmd" to shell
  for a prompt C:\. Find the Setup program, and then run it. Should be
  update the contents of the directory:
  "C:\windows\system32\macromed\flash".

  (5) you can confirm that the content of this directory is updated.
  Check the content of the file "mms.cfg. It has two lines and controls
  If Flash updates will be automatically, or in the background.
  (I'm paranoid, and disable the auto update... Any program of automatic update
  is a perfect vector for insertion of viruses. Use this approach to your own
  risk.)

  (6) restart Firefox and confirm the Flash plugin is now worm 16.0.0.305.

  This should fix the autoblocking of Flash for the 16.0.0.235 plugin.

• HP Pav TS AIO: The video have sound but the picture is black or green

  When you try to view videos FB, I can hear the sound but can't see a black or green screen.  I have usually no trouble watching youtube videos.  I called HP about this issue a couple of months, but the fix was temporary, and I don't really remember what they were doing.  I am not very computer, in order to obtain a detailed help is very appreciated.  I called HP again today, but has not had time to be waiting for an hour, so I hung up.  I know that I might have to call back them at some point, but thought I would try this before you do.  Thanks a lot for all the help in advance...

  Jeni4, welcome to the forum.

  The first thing I would try is updated Adobe Flash Player.  An outdated version can cause these symptoms.  If this does not work, I suggest to contact Facebook customer service for assistance.  I don't think it's a hardware problem.  They know best their program and should be able to help.

Out and adapter and the second fact 30 thing that did not work, I tried without the battery and still nothing at one point it seemed that updated operating system running but the screen does not (windows 7) any help would be great because I have a lot of work to do on my laptop

  First of all, I wish you welcome on the HP Forums!

  Like your laptop is by train (heard the noise of the fan and LED is lit), but the screen remains black, I suggest you to watch the following document 'computer won't start (Windows 7, Vista, XP)'. Now, this document you have already done the hard reset so you won't have to do it again once, but the part you want to follow the steps, is symptom: LEDs flow, the fan noise is heard, but the display is black or white.

  Please let me know the results of the troubleshooting steps.

• File not shown but the pictures are in Lightroom

  I'm working on a Mac.  I keep the latest on my hard drive images and the older images on a network drive.

  I decided to transfer all my folders and files 2014 my hard drive on my network drive.  The Ride has been: the directory on my network drive is exactly the same as my hard drive and the network drive also serves as my backup location. This means that the files and folders on my hard drive already existed on my network drive.  I just need Lightroom to find there.    Because they are already on the network drive I can't just drag and drop the folder in LR or LR gives me an error (file already exists).

  Then, I saved everything.  Made sure all the photos have been imported to the LR in the folder on the hard drive (called 2014), then, I renamed the folder on my hard drive to "2014_Local".  Voila!  Lightroom does not.  So, I click with the right button on the folder from LR and tell LR, where to find it... on the network drive.

  Uh oh.  Lightroom has created a new "Volume" (my network is 'House', LR has created 'Home-1').  I think that I managed to make it past that by having LR 'merge' records.  Now, the photos are all in LR, but the direcory (2014) does NOT appear in the left panel where my files and folders are listed.  I can see the photos.  I can right-click and ask LR to "Show in Finder" and the source is good.  I can search and find files in LR and they actually indicate the folder 2014 on the network drive, but the file and subdirectories for the version of 2014 on the right network drive do not appear in the LR.  My file list is:... 2012-2013... AnAlphaDirectory...   Where is the folder of 2014 within the structure of directories in LR?

  What happens in the world?
