Flash player on linux x86_64

Greetings gurus,

When you try to install the flash player on my system, the method of yum and RPM method seemed to work. But flash has never played in my firefox browser.

When you try to install the flash player the manual way with the archive, I got this error message when you run the Setup program:

ERROR: Your architecture, \'x86_64\', is not supported by the
Installation of Adobe Flash Player.

How can I fix it?

Here is some info on my system:
$ uname - a
Linux greenglow.jedihawk.net 2.6.18 - 8.el5 #1 SMP Thu Mar 15 19:46:53 EDT 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ cat/etc/redhat-release
Version of centOS 5 (Final)

Thanks for your time.

BWolfe,

Thanks for the info and the suggestion.

Solution:

Download and install nspluginwrapper & nspluginwrapper-i386. You can do it in a single command, like this (as root):

RPM - Uhv http://gwenole.beauchesne.info/projects/nspluginwrapper/files/nspluginwrapper-0.9.91.2-1.x 86_64.rpm http://gwenole.beauchesne.info/projects/nspluginwrapper/files/nspluginwrapper-i386-0.9.91. 2 1.x86_64.rpm

When I did, I got the following result:

Automatic installation of plugins from the usr
Looking for plugins in usr
Install plugin /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
in /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so
Automatic installation of plugins from/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins

Automatic installation of plugins from/usr/lib/browser-plugins

Install the /usr/lib/browser-plugins/libflashplayer.so plugin
in /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so
Automatic installation of plugins from /root/.mozilla/plugins
Looking for plugins in /root/.mozilla/plugins

Then I restarted my browser and go to:

topic: plugins

I found the flash player, as well as a mess of plugins that I had no idea worked under Linux! This solution works very well.

  • Updates security for 11.2 Flash Player for Linux?

When trying to download an update for Flash Player for Linux 11.2, I saw the note saying that there was no new development, but backfixes of security would continue to be released. I've seen the warnings of security for months on my Linux install in Firefox (which is updated), but it doesn't seem to be a security patch that would prevent these warnings "allow - continue blocking" for Flash Player.

When can we expect these to be filled? Linux users can not form an important part of your user base, but the alternatives are extremely expensive hardware and/or software if you want to use an Apple or Microsoft product.

    Hi Tim,.

What is the full version of Flash Player?  The latest version of Linux is 11.2.202.442.  If you go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about there is a widget on the page that will display the installed version.

Currently installed on Ubuntu 14.04.1 and Flash Player not identified some sites in Firefox and chrome

Adobe offers current versions of PPAPI Flash Player to Google Chrome on Linux, and we have ongoing work to extend the support to other browsers for Linux based on PPAPI.  For now, Google Chrome is your best option.

    Hello community,

I met recently in an investigation into a video what Adobe called Flash Player 13.o, which is not available for Linux.

Where my question, is an alternative for users of Linux, or is it only a matter of time before this version is available for Linux?

Firefox using NPAPI.  You're stuck on Flash Player 12 back there.

For now, you will need to switch to Chrome, if you want something current.

  • Debugger Debug Player and Linux

    Hello.

As someone who develops Flash games under linux platform, I already fight that a newer version of Flash Player is not available for my platform.

For now, there is at least a workaround for 11.2 Debug Player working to substitute libflashplayer.so.

However, if I understand correctly that would not work with Flash Player 12.

There is a good chance that there will be released for linux debugger and Debug Player 12?

We are currently working on a version of Flash Player content debugging for the pepper of Chrome, which is the target only linux that is actively supported.  It fell to support for NPAPI Linux a few years.  We publish only updates security for NPAPI Flash Player on Linux (which means 11.2) and will expire the drop just like our contractual obligations around Linux support.

Like other Linux browsers implement PPAPI, they win for the PPAPI Flash Player with the caveat that they must stay up to date with the various interfaces of chrome we will stay synchronized with the interfaces provided with versions of Chrome.

  • How to upgrade the version of Adobe Flash Player on my new Samsung Smart TV

How to upgrade the version of Adobe Flash Player on my new Samsung Smart TV?

I just bought a Samsung Smart TV. When I try to watch ESPN3, I get the message: insufficient Flash drive requirements.

Click to update provides the following information:

    Adobe Flash Player version 11.2.202.243.

    Your system: 32-bit Linux, Safari.

NOTE: Adobe Flash Player 11.2 will be the last version of target Linux as a supported platform. Adobe will continue to provide backports of security Flash Player for Linux 11.2.

    Select Version to download:

    YUM for Linux (YUM)

    . for other Linux tar.gz

    for other Linux .rpm

    APT for UBUNTU 10.4.

When I select the first 3 options of Linux, I get the message: IMPOSSIBLE TO DOWNLOAD.  When I select APT, I get the message SERVER NOT FOUND.

    Hello

As I mentioned earlier in this thread (15,17 and 37 positions), doesn't matter which drive Flash updates for Smart TV, if any, would come from the manufacturer, Adobe and certainly not some random site asking you to fill out a questionnaire before give you a file.  Please contact your support of manufacturer of Smart TVs.

Please, please, please, do NOT go to some random website that asks you to fill out a questionnaire to get a file.  If you happen to get a file, it will likely contain a virus, malware, etc..  Adobe, or any legitimate manufacture, will display a file on some random site and ask you to complete the questionnaire in order to obtain the file.  It just opens your system to all kinds of bad things.  Please do not.

  • Flash Player on Arch Linux installation on some less popular browsers

I am under arch linux x86_64 and want to install adobe flash player for the following browsers:

    Midori,

    Yandex.Browser, (based on Chromium)

    Vivaldi (based on Chromium)

    Thank you in advance.

Chrome based browsers use PPAPI plugin. From now PPAPI plugin for Linux is not available. It will be provided in the future. We'll let you know as soon as it is available.

    Thank you!

  • Flash Player indicates that my version is obsolete, but I installed the latest version available for linux 64 bits.

Sorry, your computer does not have the latest version of Flash Player installed.

Please proceed to step 2. (Your last version11.2.202.577 Version21.0.0.182)

Then, after following the instructions for step 2:

NOTE: Adobe Flash Player 11.2 will be the last version of target Linux as a supported platform. Adobe will continue to provide backports of security Flash Player 11.2 for Linux.

    Version 11.2.202.577

In my opinion, Flash Player does not make that my version is obsolete, when I have the latest being available for my platform.

    Hello

I doubt that web sites use the widget 'Check now' to check the latest version of Flash Player.  Content providers more to define their content to use a specific version of Flash, especially if this version contains some features that they use in their game/application, not necessarily the most recent version.  One option is to use Google Chrome which incorporates Flash Player and use the latest major version (21).  PPAPI plugin is also supported on Ubuntu for Chrome browsers (Opera, for example).  If you use Ubuntu and are not opposed to the opera, it is another option.

  • Flash player does not work

    Hi support them.

The problem I have is flash player will not play Channel 4 TV, ITV, Facebook games, live or on demand, TV etc. The drive flash just turns and turns and a few other laps

I am running Debian Linux 8. Firefox version 42.0. When I check if works on the site of Adobe flash player, the plugin works, but I have that Flash Player is outdated (11,2,202,548) can you please help?

    Kind regards
    TheBudda

The only other option for Linux users who want to use a newer version of Flash in Firefox and SeaMonkey is to use a plugin wrapper freshplayer to use the pepper Flash which uses Chrome/chrome.

Not sure if Debian now in one of its depots.

    Edit: wrapper and not warapper
