Flow/text formatting problem

I have a document with text flowing on multiple columns and pages. Sometimes when I change the format of a subtitle or something similar, the text disappears from there on. I turned off the constraint on the baseline grid and sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. What is the cause and what can do about it?

See if any of your paragraph styles have "Keep with next paragraph" it turned on or keep all options are applied to all.

To see if this is the case check to keep Options paragraph Styles or select text that happens on press CMD-CTRL + ALT + K

Sometimes if a line spills onto the following line options Keep might say a piece of text that is larger than the text block to keep together.

    Hi all

    I am building an application in AS3, but I'm the problem in text formats.

    I'm sure that's not a big problem., but I'm new so can not make sense for him.

    I have three text fields of type entry in my application, where when I type it show preview on the right side in the other fields of text in real-time using earphone Event.CHANGE. Now I have to apply the format on all separately three fields. (Bold, italic, size etc.). But when I use it to make "BOLD" using the "BOLD" button, the text in all three text fields change to "BOLD" at once.

    What I need is to apply the format of separately for each field using a "BOLD" text, Italic button etc.  The format will apply the last text field edited or by selecting the text field in the preview and change its formula.

    Here's the best example if formats the text I want.

    Yes, that's the reason. Change:

    this["tf" + i].addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, onTextChange);

    And so on.

  • A really weird text formatting problem

    I tried to fix a weird text problem in a new InDesign document.

    Behavior: When I hit enter at the end of a line, it gives me a jump page instead of a newline behavior. All the following text is presented on the next page.

    Installation: I have created a group of text boxes (simple script, wall of text, no images), lie on several pages and active the text stream. Then I placed the text via the import command. This is a.doc file and checked, the text it contains is behaving properly. I turned on "View hidden characters" and are all it shows end of paragraphs. Even the place where to get the odd page break, it shows only paragraph. I tried to play with the styles of character, paragraph styles, pipette, formatting of tool... nothing works. This problem appears in several chapter headings in the document, but not all.

    I've been home for hours and have exhausted all the possibilities I could think. Really need help.

    What button?

    OPERATING SYSTEM? Version of InDesign?

    Have you checked the paragraph after the break for an Option keep forcing him to start at a specific location?

  • Causing hyperlinks in text formatting problems.

    Hello

    I'm creating Web site for a client and I met him I have a problem with hyperlinks in the text boxes. The text box is a set size to ensure consistency among other pages, resizing is not an option (although I don't believe that this is part of the question in any case). Essentially, when I put the copy in the text box and then preview (in the browser or Muse) without a Word, a hyperlink, it allows as expected. As soon as I hyperlink a Word, it creates a line break in the middle of a word of hyphen - see image for an example:

    hyperlink-prob.jpg

    I do not understand why he would do this or what the best remedy for this without creating a mess of text boxes on top of the other in layers or export the HTML and edit the code.

    Any info would be a great help.

    Thanks in advance.

    A work around if you do not want to increase the width of your text box is to add a return after the link to force the text on the next line.

  • Text formatting will not work on 7.23

    Hello.

    It has been recently updated (about two weeks ago) that completely broke text formatting for me.

    None of the options work for me.

    They would look like this under my messages:

    * bold *.

    _italics_

    ~ bar ~

    {code} and I don't even know what to call this code from {}

    None of them appear correctly, yet other people I chat with that do not have this problem.

    What happened, and is there a way to fix this?

    Under "Tools" - "Options" - 'IM and SMS' - "Appearance IM", make sure that 'Show advanced text formatting' are checked.

  • How to get the text formatting in the tables

    Dear experts and aid

    For my project, I import an RTF file and then read the data into 3 tables. It works fine when just using the contents of the string of paragraphs. However, the final script should be able to read and to replace the text formatted...
    Why use intermediate tables? Because otherwise I need to swap between two fm-documents (and you can be a part of the book).

    The imported file starts with a certain number of lines separated into two parts by a TAB ("designates a TAB in \x08 FM)
    [[Garneau, 1990 #12]]    »   [9]
    The good article can also be locally as text, e.g. [9]
    Then follow the same (or smaller) number of paragraphs with text formatted like this:
    [9]"D. Garneau, ed., National Language Support Reference Manual (national language Information Design Guide. Toronto, CDN: IBM National Language technical Centre, 1990.

    Is it possible to replace in the body of the function below the next song

        pgfText = GetText (pgf, newDoc);
        gaBibliography.push(pgfText);
        pgf = pgf.NextPgfInFlow;
      }

    with this

      while(pgf.ObjectValid()) {
        gaBibliography.push(pgf);
        pgf = pgf.NextPgfInFlow;
      }

    Do I need a special statement of the gaBibliography range?
    And how to get the right part of the lines as formatted intro thingy in table gaFmtCitsFmt ?

    Currently, I read in the tables as "strings" (function GetText not shown):

    var gaFmtCitsRaw  = [];                           // left column in processed RTF
    var gaFmtCitsFmt  = [];                           // right column in processed RTF
    var gaBibliography= [];                           // bibliography lines from processed RTF
    // filename is something like E:\_DDDprojects\FM+EN-escript\FM-testfiles\BibFM-collected-IEEE.rtf

    function ReadFileRTF (fileName) {
      var nCits=0, nBib = 0, openParams, openReturnParams, newDoc, pgf, pgfText ;
      var TAB = String.fromCharCode(8);               // FM has wrong ASCI for TAB
      var parts = [];

      openParams = GetOpenDefaultParams();
      openReturnParams =  new PropVals();
      newDoc = Open (fileName, openParams, openReturnParams);
      pgf = newDoc.MainFlowInDoc.FirstTextFrameInFlow.FirstPgf;  // get first pgf in flow

    // --- read the temp/formatted citations
      while(pgf.ObjectValid()) {
        pgfText = GetText (pgf, newDoc);
        if (pgfText.substring (0,2) == "[[") {        // citation lines start with [[
          parts = pgfText.split(TAB);                 // get the two parts of the line
          gaFmtCitsRaw.push (parts[0]);               // Push the result onto the global array
          gaFmtCitsFmt.push (parts[1]);
          pgf = pgf.NextPgfInFlow;
        } else { break }
      }

    // --- read the bibliography
      while(pgf.ObjectValid()) {                      // until end of doc
        pgfText = GetText (pgf, newDoc);
        gaBibliography.push(pgfText);
        pgf = pgf.NextPgfInFlow;
      }
      newDoc.Close (Constants.FF_CLOSE_MODIFIED);
    } // --- end ReadFileRTF

    The following questions will then be how to change the script of FindAndReplace of Ian Proudfoot for managing text formatted as replacement. I will need to use the copy and paste IMHO...

    Klaus, okay, before pasting, you must assign the TextSelection object at your insertion point.

    // Add a new paragraph after the current paragraph.
    var newPgf = oDoc.NewSeriesPgf (lastPgf);
    var textRange = new TextRange (new TextLoc (newPgf, 0), new TextLoc (newPgf, 0));

    oDoc.TextSelection = textRange;
    oDoc.Paste ();

  • Find/replace for text formatting

    Hi guys,.

    How to use find/replace for text formatting changes? I would like to change a text of entire book to try an another typographical options. The book is currently typed in text of Lyon. The problem is when I change to Sabon will make it overides the italics and the word "BOLD".

    I tried to find/display

    Search

    Lyon text regular italic

    Change

    Sabon italic

    Captura de pantalla 2015-02-18 a la(s) 10.17.19.png

    but it does not work. Most of the text of this book is not formatted with the character to italic Style, for example, just a paragraph Style General to make it easier to work with.

    What I am doing wrong? Any help or ideas?

    Thank you!

    All of the text has a paragraph style that applies the formatting of basis for the whole paragraph. ALL text that deviates from the General formatting of the paragraph should have a style of character applied somehow, either directly, or as a nested or style GREP, which overrides the formatting of paragraph and gives what you want. The paragraph styles that do not change the font family are much more useful, for example a style that just changing the text in italics, as they continue to work when you change the font family of the paragraph style in the basic text format section.

    Character styles are used ONLY to change the part of the text in a paragraph. If the paragraph has the same formatting, it should have a paragraph set for this format style.

  • Button formatting problem

    I'm having the button formatting problems in the footer of a muse (A Virtual Colorado fly fishing Field Guide) site and wonder if anyone can give some insight into what goes wrong.

    There are two buttons.  The 'Business' button text is formatted as bold Helvetica 14 points.  The 'Links' button is the same formatting, but has also 10 points 'Space before' in order to center the text in the button.  When I go to the home page of the site, Business button shows the text at the top of the key and the links in the Center as planned.  If I navigate to any another page the text of the button Business has been moved to the Center and the text of links to the bottom of the button and the button links has stretched vertically.

    Why would the buttons have this behavior?

    Just rebuilt the button.  Rather than start with a text box, used the State of the widget library button.  That seems to fix the problem.

  • Keep the text format when replacing text

    Hi - I'm updating in indesign pages with 100 + boxes of text block containing prices / Cup/etc (not all threaded together, each thread is homogeneous). I need to replace the contents of these boxes with new content, but every time I put the new text, she brings with her fitness and I have to select everything and re - format text imported to the text format it replaced. I'm pulling my text in xls and converting it to plain text in text editing before placing it in my page layouts. I've never had this problem before and can not know if I messed up a preference or what. Previously, when I placed the new text, it took on the formatting of whatever it replaced. I work in CS5.

    Thank you!

    Looks like you're looking for "paste without formatting."

    This can be found in Edition > paste without formatting or with the shortcut Shift + Cmd (Ctrl) + V.

  • iOS text field problem.

    I need the user to enter a Word, so I added a simple text field to the stage. However, it behaves strangely on the real device (iPod Touch). Attached are two screenshots that show how the font size increases when the input is activated. Everyone knows about this problem?IMG_0013.PNGIMG_0014.PNG

    Hello

    I think that you have specified a textFormat to text. You must add the following

    Assuming that this is the format

    var txtFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat();

    txtFormat.size = 20;

    T1 = new TextField();

    T1.defaultTextFormat = txtFormat;

    Apply the default text format that we just put in the text that is already in the text field ('g')

    Otherwise the default text format apply to * new * text * typed * in the text field!

    Without this, the original text in text fields ('g') will use the default value for a

    Flash text (Times New Roman 12pt), rather than the defaultTextFormat (Times New Roman 20pt) field.

    T1.setTextFormat (T1.defaultTextFormat);

    addChild (t1);

    This affects any existing text in the text field in the specified format (making it the same as the default value). Now, when the text field is rendered first uses the default format that you set, and when you type also uses this same format, and so the format is no longer able to change.

    I hope this helps.

  • Radio - text format buttons

    Hello world!

    I can't get this to work! I want the text on the buttons of radio to wrap correctly when they reach the end of the scene (right now they just go on forever.) Here is the code I use:

    package {}
    import flash.display.MovieClip;
    import flash.text.TextField;
    import flash.text.TextFormat;
    import flash.text.TextFieldAutoSize;
    import flash.events.Event;
    Import fl.controls.RadioButton;
    Import fl.controls.RadioButtonGroup;

    SerializableAttribute public class QuizQuestion extends MovieClip {}
    question private var: String;
    private var questionField:TextField;
    choice of private var: Array;
    private var theCorrectAnswer:int;
    private var theUserAnswer:int;

    variables of positioning:
    private var questionX:int = 25;
    private var questionY: int = 150;
    private var answerX:int = 25;
    private var answerY: int = 200;
    private var spacing: int = 25;

    public void QuizQuestion (theQuestion:String, theAnswer:int,... responses) {}
    store the arguments provided in the private variables:
    question = Ducoup;
    theCorrectAnswer = theAnswer;
    choice = answers;

    create and position the object textfield (question):
    questionField = new TextField();
    questionField.width = 775;
    questionField.wordWrap = true;
    questionField.multiline = true;
    questionField.text = question;

    trace (questionField.width);
    questionField.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;
    questionField.x = questionX;
    questionField.y = questionY;
    addChild (questionField);

    Format text for radio buttons
    var txtFmt:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
    txtFmt.font = "Arial";
    txtFmt.blockIndent = 2;
    txtFmt.color = 0 x 000000;
    txtFmt.size = 11;
    txtFmt.leading = 4;

    create and position the radio buttons (responses):
    var myGroup:RadioButtonGroup = new RadioButtonGroup ("group1");
    myGroup.addEventListener (Event.CHANGE, changeHandler);
    for (var i: int = 0; i < choices.length; i ++) {}
    var rb: RadioButton = new RadioButton();
    rb.setStyle ("textFormat", txtFmt);

    rb.textField.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;
    RB.label = choice [i];
    RB. Group = myGroup;
    RB. Value = i + 1;
    RB.x = answerX;
    RB.y = questionY + questionField.height + 25 + (I * spacing);
    addChild (rb);
    }
    }

    private void changeHandler(event:Event) {}
    theUserAnswer = event.target.selectedData;
    }
    public function get correctAnswer (): int {}
    Return theCorrectAnswer;
    }
    public function get userAnswer (): int {}
    Return theUserAnswer;
    }
    }
    }

    As you can see, I managed to get the style of text field option buttons to use "txtFmt' as the style:

    rb.setStyle ("textFormat", txtFmt);

    The question:

    If I add:

    rb.textField.width = 352;
    rb.textField.height = 60;
    rb.textField.multiline = rb.textField.wordWrap = true;

    inside the ' loop for "creating the option button, it is simply my crazy text! It extends the text about 30 pixels after the option button, and then start wrapping, which makes any stack. How can I do create the radio button, display the text on the text field, roll once it reaches the edge of the stage and continue the next button.

    Thank you in advance,

    Rafa.

    you not add the bottom of the issue of rb.  and the code that I have proposed changing the layout.  This does not solve the problem, but he amends the provision.  When you give misinformation, mislead you people who try to get you help.

    and there are problems.

  • How can I save data in text format

    How can I save data in text format in labwindows cvi

    Hello

    If your data is in a table, the easiest is to use the ArrayToFile function.

    Automatically, it creates a file and puts your data in it depending on the size you provide.

    If you have individual samples you need to write from time to time, you can either collect them in a table and then use ArrayToFile or open a file with fopen and write them as they are acquired with fwrite.
