FMS 5.6.7 and netmonitor

Hi all.

I have FMS 5.6.7 with OS installed 5.5.4 cartridge. I want to know the availability (ping) of my physical hosts. But when I create netmonitor agent, it does not collect data.

29-07-2013 12:20:50.770 ECHO VERBOSE [AgentProcessIOHandlerReader [24] - 13] com.quest.glue.core.jfogbank.process.AgentProcess - stderr: Agent came out with the State 1

29-07-2013 12:20:50.770 ECHO VERBOSE [AgentProcessIOHandlerReader [24] - 13] com.quest.glue.core.jfogbank.process.AgentProcess - stderr: unexpected exit with code 1

29-07-2013 12:20:50.770 ECHO VERBOSE [AgentProcessIOHandlerReader [24] - 13] com.quest.glue.core.jfogbank.process.AgentProcess - out Agent closed stderr stream.  The agent most likely left the suddenly.

29-07-2013 12:20:50.771 ECHO VERBOSE [AgentProcessIOHandlerReader [24] - 12] com.quest.glue.core.jfogbank.process.AgentProcess - out Agent closed stdout stream.  The agent most likely left the suddenly.

29-07-2013 12:21:20.747 ECHO ERROR [IncomingMessage [3] - 18057] com.quest.glue.core.agent.AgentInstance - unable to start data collection

java.io.IOException: no connection is made to com.quest.glue.core.jfogbank.JFogbankAgentImpl@47232d4b

Is there an analog for the netmonitor when we use windows server 2012 as a fglam Server?

Thank you

To deploy the OS cartridge on new platforms such as Windows Server 2012 through the browser interface, you may need to enable the Show packets checkbox all platforms on the Agent Host dashboards or the status of the Agent show a package that is compatible with the platform.

Under Linux may see you the effects of the BONE-1077: The OS carts require 32-bit libraries that are not installed by default on many modern Linux distributions. For more information on the alternatives available, see http://edocs.quest.com/foglight/567/files/CartridgeForOperatingSystems_554_ReleaseNotes_Revision3.html#OS-1077

I have not seen the problem of 32-bit library occur on a Windows system before, I don't know if this could also be part of the question on Windows Server 2012, and what alternatives might be possible.

  • FMS does not capture the FXV Transactions

    Hi all

We use FMS 5.6.4 and FXV 5.5.8.1 that we have configured some transaction filters in FXV in order to get a detailed view of all pages is captured in FXM. The problem we face now is, FMS is not a collection of transactions, we created in FXV, but the shots become collected (not all). For this reason, we are forced to use FXM for services on FMS, which consumes a lot of space of FXM.

Could you please suggest if there are ways to get the FXV transactions or do we have to do any configuration parameters in FXM or FMS to push transactions...

    Thank you best regards &,.

    Guenoun.

I don't see the response time in your screenshot.  You say home of ELM' must be the response time, not the number of stricken matches?  Normally, we see the number of matches hit for the success of filters and transaction.  So you can see the volume of corresponding visits over time.  Then, you can click on the bar graph to drill down in these visits.  For related performance focus, often a hit 'Page for X seconds' filter is created.  So when the number of such visits is displayed, you can easily see where you had performance problems and drill those.

  • Number of IC & NetMonitor Agents by host

Get recommendations on the number of IC and NetMonitor of agents that can be run safely from separate servers?  I'm trying to reach to my hardware configuration required for an upgrade of 5.5.8 5.6.5.  Plans are to use IC officers to replace most of the local fglam.  I'll run the hosts supporting the IC and NetMonitor agents on the virtual machines of the suggestions on the configuration of the VM would be appreciated.

    Hi Doug,.

For the cartridge of the infrastructure, see the Foglight 5.6.2 Infrastructure Management cartridge - OS thread for suggestions/strategy for surveillance of a large number of guests.

For legacy NetMonitor agent, the maximum limit is 512 devices by agent and is the recommended practical limit of 100 devices per agent according to the alerts when guests are not available.

You can run several multiple agents by FglAM and FglAMs for each host, so there is some flexibility in terms of whether you want to run more images with few resources, or fewer images with more resources.

    The key factors are:

-Hosts how do you intend to follow with the agent of IC?

-How many devices do you intend to follow with NetMonitor?

Note that the NetMonitor agent will be replaced this year.

    Hello

I want to use the custom encoder to publish live steamers on a FMS4.5 Server?

Is it possible to connect the encoder and the server FMS4.5 on the HTTP protocol?

I read in other articles THAT GFFE can connect to FMS on RTMP protocol.

  • Difference between 1935 and 80

I was wondering what the difference between connecting to 1935 and 80.  A port has one advantage over the other?

I know default 1935 is blocked and it seems to be the perferred port to use, but port 80 to slow the flow of HTTP data?

Technically there is no difference between the two port numbers that is true even for 1935 and 80. One advantage of port 80, is that most firewalls do not block traffic on port 80 as his destiny for HTTP traffic. There's nothing special about 1935 as such but its default port in the default installation of FMS to traffic rtmp and fate of the well-known port for rtmp ensuring some firewalls may allow port 1935 RTMP traffic. I hope that above allows an explanation.

  • password admin for FMS 4.5

I have a problem I have forgotten or made a complex for my installation of FMS 4.5 password and now I can't have in the administration console. In previous versions of FMS I'd go to fms.ini and retrieve it... .to the password plain text removed in fms.ini for FMS 4.5? If yes how to recover the admin password without reinstalling? You can PM me the answer if you want not public and then you won't even know me is to reinstall the only option?

No need to reinstall - now the password is not stored as text in fms.ini - its stored as hash in Users.xml.

Just look at this link to reset the password: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/configadmin/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119f2925 f73 - 7ffd.html #WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119f2925f73-7fda

  • change FMS 4.5 with 3.5 scripts

Dear Adobe, I'm telling my clients how to change FMS 4.5 so that they can use the scripts I posted in a previous thread (let me know if you need furthur clarification). But customers and I are concearned unless take us FMS 3.5 files and put them on FMS 4.5 we will break their TOS/Liscense agreement. What are the legal issues, that we be concearned?

    Hello

The script of the scriptlib files that are deleted are now publicly available for download on http://www.adobe.com/go/fms_tools

It should not be a problem if you use the files downloaded from this link, for any license agreement.

  • Why are there 2 directories for media - 1 under webroot and 1 under applications?

    Hello

I installed FMS and we are evalauating as a streaming server.

If I understand the documentation, all multimedia files for dissemination should be stored in this directory:

    /.../applications/VOD/media

However, if I want the file to be available (downloadable) over http, it should be located under webroot.

    /.../Webroot/

Now my question is, why can't I just create a symbolic link from .../webroot/media to point .../applications/vod/Media.

In general, we would like to do each file streamable and downloadable.

My thought is, the sym link allow us not to have to download each file in two places.

Am I missing something?  Are there security issues?  What is the idea behind having 2 directories?  I guess that the FMS can handle streaming and downloading a file at the same time.

    Jeph

    Jay is right.

The server has been configured with two directories, because many customers is not available for download on HTTP support. Vod/media folder is for RTMP streaming only. Other clients need their media available on HTTP and RTMP. Webroot/vod folder is for these files.

    Here's how the configuration:

If you look at the (rootinstallationfolder/conf) fms.ini file, you will see two parameters that define the location of vod media files:

    VOD_COMMON_DIR = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 3.5\webroot\vod

    VOD_DIR = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 3.5\applications\vod\media

These parameters are used in the tag in the folder rootinstallationfolder/applications/vod application.xml configuration file. They say FMS it can stream files to one of these places.

/Webroot is the Apache Web root. The Apache httpd.conf (rootinstallationfolder\Apache2.2\conf) file defines the location of the webroot folder. Whatever under this folder can be downloaded.

For broadcast only, put the files in the vod/media folder. For the streaming + download, put the files in the webroot/vod folder.

  • Foglight APP monitor

I'm having proplems with APP monitor where officers monitoring the APP breaks. I have Logfilter and Netmonitor successfully deployed from the cartridge to the OS, but only monitor APP agent fails

    Additional accessories:

I was hoping that the newspapers will give more information, but unfortunately that's what the log shows

-stdout: this application has requested the execution to terminate in an unusual way.

-stdout: please contact the support team of the application for more information.

Can you please open this with support as soon as POSSIBLE with the description complete (FMS 5.6.7, target OS being windows 2008, tracking App properties (screenshots) and the last beam of support fglam (which has the debut info)).

  • List of stroage management settings

    Hello

Currently we use WFD 5.6.5, I want to know if foglight support storage management

If so, I want to know what are all the list of parameters that will support

You would be able to run the cartridge storage up to 2.0.X.  New versions 3.0, 2.5 and last would require a new version of the kernel of the FMS (5.6.7 and 5.6.10 respectively).  Support in version 2.0.X bays would be the Compellent, Dell, NetApp (mode 7), Clarrion EMC CX3/CX4 & VNX, HP EVA and Hitachi AMS.  Fiber switches would be Cisco or Brocade (not the renamed McData).

  • Measures to restore the Foglight Management Server

    Hi team,

I have FMS version 5.6.5 and I've updated to 5.6.10...

I want to know the steps to restore an earlier version of FMS 5.6.5 and also data bases.

    I use SQLSERVER based FMS.

I have not found good in any documentation, e-docs.

To restore the previous Foglight installation directory:
    1
CD to the directory where you want to install Foglight.
    2
If the backup of the old installation is not compressed, go to step 3. If the backup is a ZIP file, unzip it first:
    gunzip /. tar.gz
    3
If the backup of the old installation is a archive (.tar file), extract it. Use the following syntax:
    tar xvf .tar
The former Foglight installation directory is now restored.

I'm not understanding the steps above, which is given in the e - doc

    Please give me correct steps

    Hello

to return to an earlier version, you will need to make a backup of both files in the FMSHOME and the content of the database.

Restore the files (for example for a copied folder or non-archivage that you archived before), don't forget to restore the database (edocs explains mysqldump works I think, other databases need to follow their respective instructions).

  • Foglight performance tuning - Cache Code JVM

Just curious about this setting. Currently, our new FMS are amazing. But I noticed this option in the field guide. No indication on that? The docs a bit thin. When I use it? What is the default if I don't specify? How to monitor the need to increase this?

    Performance Tuning field Guide

To optimize the execution of code in larger environments, you can increase the size of the

    JVM code cache.

To increase the size of the JVM code cache:

    1 open /config/foglight.config.

    2. change the line foglight.vm.option0 as follows:

    Foglight.VM.option0 = '-XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize = 128 m "

    3. restart the management server.

The default setting is different based on the platform of the JVM.

It is default to 1024 m on 64-bit systems or 32 m on most systems except Solaris where it could be 48 m.

It sets the size used by the cache code during compilation JIT compiler. If this cache is small you will receive errors like this in the log file

Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: CodeCache is full. Compiler has been disabled. Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: Try increasing the code cache size using -XXReservedCodeCacheSize=

And it allows to disable the JIT compiler, which will result in reduced performance because all dynamic logic as rules and other groovy scripts will no longer be dealt with by the JIT.

The default settings will work in most cases, but a big FMS with many objects and rules may require a greater reserve of cache to keep the happy JIT compiler.

  • MySQL to SQL Server

    Hi all

I want to migrate from MySQL DB to SQL Server without loss of data. Is this possible?

    See this link:

    http://en.community.Dell.com/TechCenter/performance-monitoring/Foglight-administrators/f/4788/t/19559675.aspx#78928

In general, it is possible to move easily between the embedded MySQL and more robust external MySQL, but moving between database types is generally accomplished by standing the new FMS next to existing and, if necessary, put a unifier in front of both.

  • need model of Oracle Designer data, for database roles

I use Oracle Designer 10.1.2.6 and must know where to find Descriptions of role for a module.

Here's my starting point of Designer-repository object Navigator,

    bus units.PNG

These point here, so in the end, I want to get role responsibilities-> "ACADEMIC_DEPARTMENT" on the right.

    Role description.PNG

I have looked at these tables, but can't find where to find these data.

    SELECT * FROM sdd_folders app - applications

SELECT * from sdd_folder_members afm - cross between applications and files

    SELECT * from sdd_folders fol - records

SELECT * from sdd_folder_members fms - cross between modules and files

SELECT * from sdd_mod gmd WHERE - modules

SELECT * from sdd_mun MCO - components module

    SELECT * from tab sdd_tab - tables

    SELECT * DBI sdd_ite - data-bound items

    SELECT * from sdd_col col - columns

FYI - the list I found in ci_business_units (role_responsibilities column) was just a list of roles, what I was trying to get the list of roles assigned to a module.

I found the roles assigned to a module here:

    SELECT bnu.role_responsibilities

    The BNU .ci_business_units [owner]

    INNER JOIN [owner] .ci_module_business_units mbu ON mbu.business_unit_reference = bnu.irid
