If you right-click on the desktop | New | Folder, is out of the landscape, (plate) or portrait, you want.

Right click on one of these folders. Properties Customize change icon. Select one of the icons of 'normal' file What is fix?

  • Firefox creates "desktop" folder on the desktop whenever I have download

So I just installed Firefox on my new laptop, and whenever I download something, Firefox creates a "Desktop" folder on the desktop and download of the sticks in there. I used to be able to download directly on the desktop, but with this version, I can't. I tried tools > Options > save files to, but whenever I have click on the Browse button and select the location of my desired download (office under the "Favorites" section), Firefox ignores and sets the path as C:\Users\User1\Desktop\Desktop. Is it possible to fix this? It is extremely irritating.

See if it works for you as it does for me.

    1. Create a new folder on the desktop labeled downloads (or any other name),
    2. Open tools > Options-> general
    3. Downloads, click on the Browse button and select the new downloads folder that you just created.

Firefox wants a "folder name" for downloads, by specifying the 'bureau' only or won't 'Favorites '. When you try to force the issue, the name of the folder will mimic what the user is trying to specify. In your case, it created the folder "Desktop" on the desktop. Yes, it's different from previous versions of Firefox, but this change took place ago - many versions so it is not really 'new' any longer.

I have several updated files in place on my desk.  But when I go to save a file (for example, a picture of a Web site) to a folder on the desktop, I only get the option to save the image on the desktop, not in folders located on the desktop.  I use Chrome and Safari and browsers started to ask where to download, but I can not save to a folder I created on the desktop.  THX!

Open Safari Preferences > General.  Select OTHER in "Download file location" in the drop down in the drop-down menu, select the file where you want to download it.

  • How can I move a folder on the desktop docking station application?

I have an application icon in the dock... when I try to move it to a folder on the desktop, a little 'remove' sign appears... He faints. what I am doing wrong?

    Thank you very much

You cannot move an icon in the Dock on the desktop. Right click (Control-click) the icon in the Dock, select Options, select Show in Finder. A Finder window opens with the selected application. Now click (or Ctrl-click) on the right and select Create an Alias. This will create an alias/shortcut to the app-drag the icon of the alias of the Application on the desktop folder. You can now drag the icon on the Dock and 'remove' to let go of it.

If the icon you want the desktop is not an application the same instructions apply. Simply find the origin and do an alias to the drag on the desktop.

  • the desktop folder Vista copy in a folder on the desktop

I met a funny situation. My question is; Has anyone ever seen this before?

You are using windows vista, its to understand that there is a desktop computer, which contains my users of computers and MyComputer ControlPanel Recyclebin etc.  Inside of each user, each contains properly, a folder on the desktop...

Somehow, I accidentally dragged my file userdesktop out of my home directory of the user, in the folder of the main office.  The result, it seems, is an effect like pointing a video camera on his own monitor, by zooming in on itself to infiinity. Now I have like 60 folders named desktop in a tree. In my tree Explorer, I can access these 60 files at 4 different locations.

Strangely enough, perhaps unrelated, these same files accessed via my Start menu are unrelated to records in my Explorer window. I can edit each... but the change does not reflect in the other.

I appreciate your comments. Thank you very much.

  • Windows Vista Photo Gallery will not open .jpg on desktop but in a folder on the desktop - why?

I use vista and if I put a .jpg on the desktop image I open it with any normal program 'open with', with the exception of the Windows Photo Gallery.

If I create a folder on the desktop and then to move the image in the folder it opens very well as usual.  I logged as a different user on the same computer to test if this office was undergoing the same wierdness.  These are the works very well as it is supposed to.  Accordingly, I find that there are some bad configured "widget" on my main desktop of the user to open the image files automatically when they are on the desk.

How to restore the default double click of the image so this Windows Photo Gallery it opens on the desktop?

OK, I found the reason and the solution.  I want to thank myself to resolve this weird behavior of Vista

the problem occurs because a URL (web link), you have on the desktop is too long.  something like a link to google maps for example or something else Street which is more then 64 characters is originally the Gallery windows to screw up.  Why these two files different, sitting on the desktop may be related, I don't know, but they are.

find the link that is the author of the offence and delete or move elsewhere and out of your office and bingo!  your desktop image viewer works again.

    HOW TO FIX:
I found the easy long url because there were only a few links on my desk so if you have a lot and you are not sure which one is, simply create a folder called 'junk url' and move all web links in this directory.  Now, you will see that your office is working again as it should so that you know that one of those that you moved is bad.  Now, to pull everyone out, one at a time on your desktop and keep stable your .jpg image to see if it considers the image.  One of these URLS will begin his shows do not and when you check the properties of this url, you will see that it is a super long address.  One who is bad - get rid of him and now your fixed.

  • Problem with the change of location of the folder on the desktop (Windows 7)

Hi all, I have windows 7 Home Premium and changed my location on the desktop of \desktop c:\users\ (user) on my drive d: since my c: drive was getting full (for that I click with the right button on the back of my office and I changed my location).  However, the system has simply dumped all my files and Office files in the root directory d:\, without creating a new folder on the desktop, which is what I thought was going to happen.

To resolve this problem, I want to transfer all my files + folders office to a dedicated folder d:\desktop but found I can't since now there is now no desktop as folder! (catch-22).  I entered the \links c:\users\ (user) file and changed the objective of the Office in d:\desktop instead of d:\, but it has no effect! My office target is always the root directory. How can I change this?  I hope you can help!  David

Go to libraries, do a right click on desktop, cut, and then paste it on the other drive. The wonders of windows 7 will automatically record anything he puts on the desktop for now :)

  • Can SkyDrive be configured as a folder on the desktop?

Can SkyDrive be configured as a folder on the desktop?

I don't know if there is a way to set up as would a folder for storing online synchronization.

If you do not want to set up SkyDrive as a shortcut on the desktop, connect to your Microsoft account, open Internet Explorer on the desktop, go to skydrive.live.com - when you open it, it should show your account and files saved. Select Favorites in Internet Explorer and add skydrive.live.com as favorite. Open the Favorites, and then drag on the desktop.

  • Folder on the desktop after installing Photoshop Elements 12

I downloaded and installed Photoshop elements 12 and it works well. However, it is still a floder on my desktop called Adobe Photoshop elements 12 that contains 307 files and 144 foldes and takes 1.35 GB of space. On my drive C the Program folder files, there are 2 records related to Photoshop elements 12: is called items 12 and it contains 3960 files and 200 records; the other is called Photoshop elements 12 and contains files of 2611 and 232 cases. I guess it's these 2 folders under Program Files which contain all the necessary work files for Photoshop elements 12.

Delete the folder on the desktop to retrieve the 1.35 GB of space?

    Tom Ayres

    Hi Tom,

Yes, you can remove the folder on the desktop as I guess this is the configuration file. I would say that to remove folder keep somewhere safe in the future if you want to reinstall so you don't have to re-download the entire product.

    Kind regards

    Abhijit

    Hello

The folder you're talking about is having the configuration for the XI Acrobat. If you need in the future, once again, then keep it as a backup. If you have the download available on your Adobe account, you can delete the folder ythis from now and download it again and install if necessary.

  • How to set up a folder on the desktop to import Photos

    Hello

    I have a Mac 10.6.5. and Lightroom 3.3.

Someone would provide a step by step on how to import pictures from my DSLR in a folder on my desktop before importing them into Lightroom.

I use a card reader to import photos.   I do not want Lightroom to open first, but to go directly to my desktop? I created a folder on the desktop, but my camera does not recognize the folder

I don't have the editing application of my Nikon installed on my computer.

    Thank you

    Sue

Are the import of Lightroom automatically using dialogue in compact or extended mode? In extended mode, you can see a thumbnail of each picture to display in the grid, or you can zoom in for more than 1:1 if you want to check the focus. It's really not different for the viewing and selection of the image in Bridge or similar, and it's very fast.

Thank you you are new to Lightroom, but I think that makes it all the more important get your workflow sort at this stage. Lightroom has all the tools you need to import the images in a selective way, and this is by far the fastest way. That said, I highly recommend that you import all your images in Lightroom, your edit and then delete all unwanted images - you won't see always defects with a picture at first glance, and the moment you decide you would prefer another image, you may well have formatted the memory card.

  • during an update lots of my profile folder has been put in a folder on the desktop marked the old data. How to restore this data file

During a bet to update, automatic update of windows has started and some how much my profile data has been removed and stored in a file on the desktop. There is a simple and easy way to restore this folder from the current firefox?

You can use the contents of the Old Firefox Data folder to "roll back" the refresh, but this involves several steps. It's probably even faster than the recovery of individual files and load those into your new profile.

Check in the folder 'Old data Firefox' update adds a folder with a random semi name on your desktop. If there is only one, that probably has your old settings and Add-ons. If there is more than one, you'll want to work with one who has been updated recently.

Once you have identified the profile folder, that you want to restore, here is my "old profile resurrection suggested procedure:

    Overview

Here are the steps described in more detail below:

    1. Create a new Firefox profile
    2. Delete all of this profile folder
    3. Copy in all of the old profile folder

Create a new profile for Firefox (Windows)

Exit Firefox completely and start up in the Profile Manager by pasting the following in the Windows search, or the Run dialog box by pressing ENTER:

    firefox.exe -P

Note: any time want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog box.

Click on the button create a profile, give it a name like OldSettings and skip the option to change the location of the folder. Select the new profile from the dialog box, and then start Firefox.

Open the new profile folder in Windows Explorer

Firefox in the new profile should look like a new installation of the plant. Open the troubleshooting information page by using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • Menu help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table, click on the view file"" button. Firefox will launch your new profile folder in Windows Explorer.

This folder open, switch back to Firefox and get out by using either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit

Firefox is closed, the profile folder must be front and Center, or you can activate it by using the taskbar.

Copy old data instead of new

In this new profile folder you just popped open - NOT the one on your desktop - select all content (you can use Ctrl + a) and delete (you can press Delete on the keyboard).

Leave this window open, open or switch to your folder of old data of Firefox. Consult your old profile folder. At this level, you should see a folder named bookmarkbackups among other things.

Select all (Ctrl + a) and copy (or right-click > copy or Ctrl + c).

Switch to the empty profile folder in another window and paste (or right-click > paste or Ctrl + v). This may take a few minutes because some files are large.

    Launch Firefox

Firefox should start in this 'new' profile with the old resurrected profile data. Success?
