Folder Preferences on El Capitan?

Hi everyone, in some of my folders, I can't move the files in the folder. It just copies them to where I tried to move it to and you get the file by an arrow icon. It's really annoying because I want to move some files out of that folder, not to remove them, but move them to somewhere else and I can't take them out of the folder. What can I do about it? Thanks for your help.

It depends on the permissions on the folders.

If the directory or file is marked as you are not allowed to remove, you can not move, either.

Now, some places in OS X are protected. For example, you cannot change the Applications folder in El Capitan short items move you inside yourself by dragging and dropping.

    @laurawielos,

    Try this:

the Macintosh HD > users > [your user folder... click on 'Go' on the options bar at the top on the desktop (Menu bar) > then click on the 'option' key > mouse down to the selection of 'Library' that should appear > click on it to open the folder /Users/ [your user name] /Library/ ' "]

You should now find the appropriate folders to change permissions. Just give your user name of the read/write permissions. I don't think you want to give everyone the read/write permission as some authors have claimed.

Move this folder to one location other than/Users /, then create a new user. The items in the folder /Users/ are regular folders; the actual list of accounts is stored elsewhere.

  • How to easily configure CS6 on my new laptop (settings, preferences, collections, etc.)

I managed to install CS6 for my new laptop, however, I don't know what all I should 'export' of the old laptop and align with the new.  For example, I exported and loaded the actions I had.  But I wonder what other things should I think about (bridge Collections, preferences, settings, custom, etc.).  I noticed that even though I copied my photos for the new laptop, Bridge does not have keywords associated with them in the keywords Panel.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Photoshop CS6 gel on 'reading Preferences.

I use Creative Suite CS6 and have a problem where Photoshop will not load. What happened only since this morning and I haven't downloaded or changed something (that I know) since the last, I used the program yesterday.

I read a tip suggesting pressing cmd + alt + shift while the program's start-up and clicking Yes to reset/clear the preferences but it did not work.

Can anyone suggest anything else I can try?

Thanks for your help... I rang Adobe who apparently do not have phone support for products of CS (a bit frustrating), so I then talked to our companies IT helps who found this: Photoshop Tip: how to preferences - Photoshop - macProVideo.com to reset Photoshop Hub

I had to use finder, go (top toolbar), navigate to the folder, type/users/yourname/library, then navigate to the folder Preferences

Then, find the folder of photoshop cs6 and delete everything in this folder. When you open photoshop, all rewritten preferences themselves (if you have kept the window of finder open at the same time, we saw all the elements reappear in the folder)

I hope this helps someone else who may have had the same problem!

I had to go to the library main folder Preferences and reset the permissions for the file Photoshop CC 2014 paths Photoshop CC 2014 folder and Settings. I am disappointed that Adobe has shipped an upgrade with such a fundamental flaw. I think I should say something derogatory and disparaging about Adobe, quality control, on the way as a loyal customer, using Photoshop since version 2.5 and a Subscriber CC, expecting better. But I'll leave these comments for others.

If this is not possible or does not work leave bridge and go to the library to the user (hidden by default, use menu go with option in the Finder) and in the folder Preferences remove the manual of bridge plist file to the Trash:

  • CS 6 character palette and variations does not

    Hi all!

I'm hoping to get some help here. Seemingly out of nowhere my character the pallets and pallets of the toolbar have totally bugged. Whenever I try to select a font, one which seems to be a corrupt, blank menu down. See attachment. I am able to type a font name in the field. But can not change the type variation either. the <>do not respond.

I "m on El Capitan OS X on a macbook 2012 pro and worked very well. I use InDesign professionally for more than 10 so I'm quite knowledgeable and aware what is happening but this really is apparently out of nowhere. Nothing has changed in my environment. I tried to remove the "InDesign SavedData" in InDesign cache and "InDesign Defaults" in preferences, but nothing helped. In fact, I deleted the whole folder "en_US" and had InDesign that rebuild them but the app would crash constantly after the start. I replaced the old records and tracks of the app, but remains the question of the character.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thank you

Having said that CS6 is not supported under El Capitan, you should consider upgrading to InDesign CC2014/2015.
