• Folio 1040 G1: How to clear the bios password

  I got a laptop HP 1040 Folio G1. A few years ago, I would set the password of the bios on this subject.

  (I have still remember and use PW daily)

  But now, I didn't need to protect more bios password.

  I tried to delete it, but I found that - to just change it.

  NORMANLY, when to clear the bios password (eg on the desktop) the PC checks current PW (I have exceeded the stadium).

  In the box to request new password, put the ESC button. And then, the IPL has been removed.

  But on the Folio 1040 G1, it did not work.

  Pleas tell I can remove it or not (and how). Thanks to you all!

  Instead, I find a simple way to solve.

  I have reset default of the manufacturer of the bios (early). BIOS now check the password has not appeared more!

• Folio 13-2000: Folio 13-2000 reset bios password

  I don't have the BIOS password for my laptop Folio 13-2000 second hand. When I try, I get 58901368 to disable the system. How to solve this problem?

  Steps to follow:
  1. use the posted above unlock code to access the BIOS
  2 disable all passwords that are enabled
  3. If the request for current password - enter the unlock code
  4. for the new password, simply press the ENTER key
  5. repeat the same thing to check the password column.
  6. then exit the BIOS saving & exit option to save the changes.
  
  Troubleshooting:
  Incase if the password does not work please try a Hard Reset as follows.
  
  1. power off the laptop
  
  2 disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery
  
  3 hold the Power button for 30 seconds
  
  4. connect the power supply/AC adapter (leave the battery for now) & start Notepad
  
  5. If now see you a password, please enter the same password I've shared before and press on enter

  Unfortunately, business machines such as Probooks or EliteBook have more strict than the models of consumer security - they do not produce ' stop codes ', the password cannot be derived from the serial number and code is stored in a memory non volatile so remove the cell RTC will not reset the password in this case.

  If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to file a custom SMC.bin that you can use to reset the password at startup.

  I pulled the thing out to pull the battery, but apparently didn't let the long enough.  It was a complete pain to get back all the small cables together so I prefer not to do that again.  Someone at - it advice?  I've seen other posts where someone has posted a door code secret given the error code and I hope the same thing...

  We had someone leave the company recently and they their BIOS password protected.  Nobody here knows what it is and that person refuses to give it to us.  Is it possible to reset to the default values without knowing the password of the BIOS?
