Following a power failure, I can only open the pc in safe mode.

The computer "sounds" as if he started, but after the opening of microsoft bar, startup screen, the screen goes black.  I was able to open in safe mode and have also booted from the dvd diagnostics.  There is no problems identified during diagnoses are made.

In safe mode, the computer connects to the internet, but I am unable to download certain corrections in safe mode.

This problem occurred shortly after the Windows Live Essentials update.  I can't remove the update.

Try a restore in safe mode point.  That might solve your problem.

    Hard drives come with a large number of spare sectors 'invisible' - it's only when they all well used by repair mechanisms built-in to the reader that the number of bad sectors Windows begins to increase from zero (in your case, it is a sector) means that there is already a significant degradation of the drive, and you can expect the count to start sooner or later back.

    Assuming you have Windows Vista or Windows 7 is installed on the computer,

    Method 1:

    Perform a clean boot and check for the issue.

    Try to run a full scan with the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that nothing is found.

    Try also to install the latest drivers from your computer manufacturer's website. If you have difficulty to locate the website of your computer manufacturer or the drivers on their page, please provide your computer brand and model in your next reply. If you have built your computer you need visit the site of the manufacturer of each piece of hardware to get the latest driver.

    Once the drivers have been installed, try to restart your computer, and then test to see if the same problem occurs.

    If your Mac runs in Mode safe mode, but not otherwise, it is most likely, you have an installed extension that is the cause.

    Disable all extensions via system preferences. To isolate which extension is at fault, turn on an extension at the same time, restart in the meantime, until you find the bad Apple.
