Windows remembers the connection details after making a wireless connection with success.  If you don't want your guests to be able to connect to your network without asking next time they visit, you will have to change the password of your router.

If your guests are cooperative, they can remove the details of the connection on their own computer as follows:

  • Open network connections (start > run > ncpa.cpl OK)
  • Right-click on the wireless network icon
  • Select Properties
  • Select the wireless networks tab
  • In the list of "Preferred networks", select the SSID of your router (network name)
  • Click on delete

Not only is much to ask to your guests, but they might just remember or write your network password, even if they remove from their computers.

What services do need me for a wireless network running? Or is completely managed by the modem provided from my ISP?

Assuming that you have manually stopped no Windows services, your PC is in good condition, and is equipped with a wireless transmitter/receiver, other than to locate your modem in the list of available wireless signals and by entering the password, you have nothing to do... :-)

  • How can I find the WEP key for my wireless network so that I can connect to it?

How can I find the WEP key

Steps to find a WEP key:

    1. open a browser (the program used to access the internet). The following process worked for me when using the

Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera browsers, although I'm not sure it will work for other browsers (for example

    Chrome, Safari etc.).

2 type the following in the address bar of the browser. If you use a Linksys router type in "192.168.1.1" and if

using a type of router Belkin "192.168.2.1". The address bar is the area where the Web pages are typed. It is important

When you enter there is NO http://www. before the numbers.

    3. If everything is is well past that should open a page which says that Linksys or Belkin.

    3. There may be the need of connection. When you use a Linksys if you don't know what are the user name and password, it may

always be the factory settings and then enter "admin" for the username and "password" for the password. If you are using a

Belkin router, the factory settings often come without password, click just send without having to type a password.

    4. click on one) "wireless" or b) "settings".

    5. click one) "Wireless security" or b) "wireless settings".

    6. There should be a page with a specified WEP key.

7 writing it to the down/copy and use as you wish!

Make sure you have the latest Service Pack installed (SP3).

Go into your router and select Security WPA2-PSK(with AES) if it is available.  Secure your computer wireless properties select WPA2-Personal security type and select the type of AES encryption.

Enter your password for the router and use the same password when connecting with your computer.

Do NOT enable authentication IEEE 802. 1 x on your computer or the router.  In the router DO NOT select a type safety 'company '.  Company type safety requires authentication IEEE 802. 1 x and IEEE 802. 1 x authentication requires a radius server, these methods of authentication are used usually only in the business circles.

  • Using Windows 7 for XP wireless network

    Hello

I'm running a Windows 7 laptop (HP G72 - B01) and a PC Windows XP Desktop PC (HP-M1260-uk) has a wired connection to the router Netgear and W7 laptop is connected wireless to the router for Internet.  What I'm trying to do now is to create a network between the two for file sharing.  The desktop PC has 802. 11B wireless LAN and it's turned on but neither computer can see each other.  I searched a lot from other internet sources for the answer (changed the two working groups of the same name, enabled the Group of 'work' on the W7 laptop and activated the sharing of files on two computers) but nothing seems to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Thank you

    Hello:

I don't know that much on the network or the other. I was just lucky to have everything work after a couple fits and starts.

Everything you do is via the router. You have your network configured as a Network Infrastructure, correct?

I think you have 2 choices, Infrastructure or Ad Hoc and what you do are not ad hoc.
