forgotten password - reinstalled XP - he ALWAYS asks me a password! Why?

I forgot the password of my laptop.  I reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition.  At the end of the process of re - install, boots machine more and there is a login screen.  "User: owner.  "Password:". "  What gives?  After you have reinstalled the software, there should be no password prompt.

It's because you did an "Upgrade In-Place ' (a repair aka installation) of the operating system instead of a clean install.  Note that install a cleaning will destroy all data currently stored on the disk.

  • Machine Vista "frequently", but not always, ask user name and password to access the public folders on the XP machine.

    Location:

    4 x Vista computers
1 x XP computer acting as a server file, all the data in the "shared folders".

All 4 Vista computers were to access shared data on the XP machine for two years without problem. All of a sudden this week one of the Vista computers "Frequently" but not always ask for a username and password to access the machine XP - not only shared folders, but still a list of shared resources on the machine XP via my network places is the result in the box of "connect to" request credentials to appear. All 3 other Vista machines have no problem to access the XP machine, so the problem must be with the a Vista machine.

To put a spanner in the works as I have said in this case "Frequently" and by that I mean probably 9 of the 10 connection attempts. Let's say, you can see the name of the computer in my network places, you double click it and have asked for credentials, cancel the attempt and to repeat 4 or 5 times and then you could get display shared resources without going into the details of connection. For a few minutes, you might be able to access all the shared data and to navigate through the folders, but then all of a sudden have asked you credentials and can not access to anything, even the files accessed you seconds before.

Lets say you are able to access the shared folders, you navigate to the Parent folder, then under A folder, then a subfolder B, go back to A notebook, then try to access folder B even once and you get guest credentials, quit out of the network completely locations, navigate back to the XP via Network Places and this machine you not even be able to display all the shared resources on the XP machine.

I've also set up a shared folder on a Vista machine with matching username and password on the machines and the Vista machine with the get the problem exactly the same problem so this definatley Vista machine with the question and not sharing files on the XP machine.

    a. Click Start, right-click computer and click on manage.

    b. in the Microsoft Management Console navigation tree, click on performance and reliability.

  • How to make the Connect-VIServer cmdlet to always ask for username password

    Hi all

I use the connect-viserver cmdlet to connect between host windows to my vcenter server.

    using

The host - Powershell - 2.0, Windows XP, Powercli installed machine.

Target machine - Vcenter server 4.1.0 on windows 2008 server, in the other subnet

I want to have a provision that it must always ask for user name and password to connect.

    I took a look at

    http://pubs.VMware.com/vSphere-50/index.jsp?topic=/com.VMware.wssdk.apiref.doc_50/Vim.virtualmachine.html

    resultof = % 22connect - viserver % 22 & http://pubs.VMware.com/vSphere-50/index.jsp?topic=/com.VMware.PowerCLI.cmdletref.doc_50/connect-VIServer.html

But failed to get the relevant information.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Madalena

My mistake, Connect-ViServer does not accept a SecureString. You first need to convert it

    Try it like this

    $userName = "username"
    $passwd = Read-Host ("Password for " + $userName) -AsSecureString:$true
    $cred = New-Object System.Management.Automation.PSCredential -ArgumentList $userName,$passwd
    Connect-VIServer -Server MyServer -Credential $cred

  • PC World Curry always ask my iCloud password...?

    Hello world!

So, recently, I sent my MacBook with world PC of Curry. I've bought from them and my MacBook has been to them before, but I have to ask... Why do need my iCloud password?

So, I understand that they'd need if there is a technical problem, because they could get locked or other.

But the first time he returned, he returned for a missing key fix, not something that they would still need to connect to to see if it works fine.

And now he's coming back with a stiff hinge on the lid.

as soon as I gave them my password (reluctantly), it is said in my email, they had recorded in a web browser on my iCloud.

It's what to worry about, or is it me being suspicious?

    Thank you!

Well, I'd be suspicious too! I don't really know why there is no need to go to your iCloud account.

  • ADMINASTRATOR FORGOTTEN PASSWORD

HOW DO YOU START YOUR SYSTEM VISTA IN SAFE MODE, THEN YOU CAN RESET THE PASSWORD? I'M a THE HP PAVILION s7700n WITH WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM.

If you have forgotten your password, try using the index of password or backup if you create to retrieve. But if you have completely forgotten that, then the best option is to reformat your hard drive and reinstall windows. Microsoft will provide no support for the lost password.
    On safe mode
    (1) turn on your PC
    (2) immediately press F8 key several times before the Windows logo to the top
    (3) you will see the screen with the options, safe mode is
Press and 4 selected safe mode) input (use the arrow key to move up and down)

However, if you log on to safe mode you will always ask password to access your account.

    Hello

"What to do if you forget your password Windows 8/8.1"

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/what-do-forget-Windows-password#1TC=Windows-8

If you have forgotten your Windows password, there are several ways to recover or reset:

    • If your PC is on a domain, your system administrator must reset your password.

    • If you use a Microsoft account, you can reset your password online. For more information, see the Web to reset your password page.

    • If you use a local account, use your index of password as a reminder.

If you've tried these suggestions and still unable to connect:

    • If you have Windows 8.1, you will need to reinstall Windows.

    • If you have Windows RT 8.1, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your PC.

My frozen Googlemail account a few days ago, and I had to use the procedure of recovery to thaw, which included a series of new passwords, provided by Google, which I was told that I would not need to memorize or note down. After a few hours of work successfully, the program froze again and so I am unable to receive or forward all e-mail messages. • forgotten password on my local computer administrators

Son of game me his computer and they have left the country for two years. It was the Admimnistrator and does NOT let me the password. When asked what it was, he REMEMBERED.   HELP PLEASE!.  We cannot do ANYTHING without the administrators password.   Is there a way we can restore everything that was him or change what is his password?

    Hello

You did a password reset disk?
A password reset disk allows the user to change their password if they are locked.
See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305478 for more information about how to create and use a password reset disk.

If you create one, then according to Microsoft policy on forgotten passwords (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/189126) we are not allowed to attend the circumvention of password. There may be no official tools, but some can be dangerous, and none are taken in charge by Microsoft.

    Hey cinpul330

You cannot use recovery CD to reset your password

you need to reinstall vista using these cds you did

boot from the first cd and follow the instructions to reinstall vista

Additionally, you may not get help in these forums to retrieve your forgotten password because it is against the policy of microsoft to do
