Form of CONF. IPSec PIX to ASA

Hi.I have a small question. I have a PIX configured with Ipsec configuration, but we have now upgraded to an ASA.

I can just copy paste the configuration of PIX, ASA (all crypto and isakmp orders) or what I have to change some commands to make it work?

ASA uses the same addresses that PIX used in its configuration.

""isakmp key"" command is replaced by the tunnel-group.

use: -.

tunnel-group xx.xx.xx.xx type ipsec-l2l

tunnel-group ipsec-attributes xx.xx.xx.xx

pre-shared key "isakmp key."

where xx.xx.xx.xx is the address of the peer.

Political ISAKMP are replced with

ISAKMP crypto policy 'number

authentication

I hope this helps.

I am a site configuration to site IPSec VPN using a PIX515E to site A and ASA5520 to Site B.

  • PIX and ASA static, dynamic and RA VPN does not

    Hello

I am facing a very interesting problem between a PIX 515 and an ASA 5510.

The PIX is in HQ and has several dynamic VPN connections (around 130) and IPsec vpn remote works very well. I had to add a PIX to ASA L2L VPN static and it does not work as it is supposed to be. The ASA 5510, at the remote end, connects and rest for a small period of time, however, all other VPN connections stop working.

The most interesting thing is that ASA is associated with the dynamic map and not the static map that I created (check by sh crypto ipsec his counterpart x.x.x.x). However, if I make any changes in the ACL 'ACL-Remote' it affects the tunnel between the PIX and ASA.

    Someone saw something like that?

    Here is more detailed information:

    HQ - IOS 8.0 (3) - PIX 515

    ASA 5510 - IOS 7.2 (3) - remote provider

Several Huawei and Cisco routers dynamically connected via ADSL

    Several users remote access IPsec

A VPN site-to site static between PIX and ASA - does not.

Here is the config on the PIX:

The problem is that the ASA has a crypto acl defined between host and network, while the remote end has to the network.

Make sure that the acl is reversed.

I guess what I really wonder is if someone can convert the version of site to site of this VPN ASA 8.2 config so I can compare it to what I have. I need to have this, so I can just fall into place and work.

Also, it does appear that political isakmp 40 are used, correct?

On your ASA in Setup mode, simply type vpnsetup steps for remote access ipsec or vpnsetup site - not and it lists what it takes or you can download the PIX of the ASA migration tool.

  • PIX and ASA Site to Site (ACL)

I am trying to configure a VPN tunnel from site to site between my PIX515 (6.3) to a seller ASA 5510. We can get the tunnel when the ACL match is all of this period, but when we try to use TCP and a specific port, nothing comes through. Any thoughts? I would be able to limit the interesting traffic to what is not necessary? I'm only looking on the side of the ASA to access a resource on the side of PIX on 1521 TCP. The side PIX didn't need to access anything whatsoever on the side of the ASA.

PIX side ASA x.x.x.x y.y.y.y side

    This ACL works...

    PIX

ip host x.x.x.x y.y.y.y host access list vendor permit

    ASA

host host x.x.x.x y.y.y.y ip access list vendor permit

    This ACL is not...

    PIX

access list provider permit TCP host x.x.x.x eq 1521 host y.y.y.y

    ASA

access list provider permit TCP host x.x.x.x eq 1521 host y.y.y.y

Phase 1 Isakmp appears fine, fails just on the Ipsec data transfer.

No, only versions 7.X code support the use of the tunnel-groups and group policies that are needed to implement filtering of VPN.

I would suggest filtering traffic at the becauase of the SAA on the PIX, you will need to remove the 'permit sysopt-connection ipsec' command (if it is not already deleted) to start filtering on the external interface.

    Duyen

    Hello Duyen,

I think I've narrowed the issue. When remote access VPN using RADIUS authentication we must keep in mind that authentication and authorization are included on the same package.

Depending on your configuration, the ACS is defined as a server RADIUS (Gserver Protocol radius aaa server) and becomes the VPN Tunnel authenticated and 'authorized' on this server group:

    authentication-server-group LOCAL Gserver

    authorization-server-group Gserver

As noted above, the RADIUS of request/response includes authentication and authorization on the same package. This seems to be a problem of incorrect configuration that we should not set up the 'permission' in the Tunnel of the group.

Please remove the authorization under the Tunnel of Group:

    No authorization-server-group Gserver

Please test the connection again and check the logs of the ACS. At this point there are only sucessful newspaper reported on the side of the ACS.

Is 'Permission-server-group' LDAP permission when authenticating to a LDAP server so to retrieve the attributes of permission on the server. RAY doesn't have the command as explained above.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards.

  • Version 7.0 of the PIX and ASA 5500

    Hi all

Is ASA 5500 series identical a PIX 515 or 525 or 535 with version 7.0... I still see some areas where it confused between version 7.0 of the PIX and ASA 5500 series... If not, what are the benefits of ASA 5500 on the PIX 7.0?

ASA is not the same as PIX, ASA is different hardware architecture. Although both can run the same code. One of the benefits of the SAA is that you can have an IPS module in it to make the prevention of intrusions.

    Search for comprarison on CCO.

  • Please notify PIX or ASA

    Hello

Could I have your opinion on which is best as a Firewall/VPN device. The network, I'm looking to deploy the device has a Web server and a mail server with Outlook Web access that require access to the outside. There are a few servers that need remote access also, so I thought I'd use 3DES IPSec VPN tunnels for users to access the LAN.

I used and configured the before PIX 515 firewall on the network using Cisco VPN Client software to access LAN remotely, so I am to some extent familiar with this technology. But I'm not familiar with the ASA devices though and hoping for an opinion on which is the most profitable, straight forward and easier to deploy?

    Thank you very much

    Mark

    Mark,

I highly recommend that you integrate the new product ASA against the PIX, as you may already aware that PIX platforms have reached end of life. If you were in a scenario where you were using PIX515 and are looking for additional has this PIX 6.3.5 code does not, it would be possible to switch the code to 7.x-8.x on 515 for example to take advantage of much reacher features in code 7.x and higher. But it seems that this is not the case, if you are looking to implement a new security ASA5500 serial b.b.q look.

If you are familiar with PIX you'll be fine, of course, there are new features to learn and a completely new architecture, but the basic concept of the firewall and traffic control remains the same. All your requirements such as VPN L2L, VPN can be realized in addition to other features that you would never see in the code 6.3.5.

The most important point is to integrate a new platform, not the one that has reached the end of life, it is my personal opinion.

  • IPSec VPN to asa 5520

    Hello

First I must admit that I am not very versed in Cisco equipment or in general IPSEC connections so my apologies if I'm doing something really good obviously stupid, but I checked through any kind of things that I could find on the internet on the configuration of IPSEC VPN.

The setup I have is an asa 5520 (o/s 8.2) firewall which, for now, is connected to a temporary connection beautiful style home broadband for testing purposes. The netopia router is configured to allow ipsec passthrough and redirect 62515 UDP, TCP 10000, 4500 UDP, UDP 500 ports in the asa 5520.

I'm trying to connein out of a laptop with disabled windows firewall and vpn cisco 5.0.02.0090 client version.

I ran several attempts through the ipsec configuration wizard options. most of the time that nothing comes in the newspaper to show that a connection was attempted, but there is a way I can set up product options the following on the firewall log:

    4. Sep 24 2010 | 13: 54:29 | 713903 | Group = VPNtest9, IP = 86.44.x.x, error: cannot delete PeerTblEntry

I have connectivity full http from the internet to a machine inside the asa 5520 so I think that the static routing and NAT'ing should be ok, but I am pleased to provide you with all the details.

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

    Thank you

    Sam

    Pls add the following policy:

    crypto ISAKMP policy 10

    preshared authentication

    the Encryption

    md5 hash

    Group 2

You can also run debug on the ASA:

    debugging cry isa

    debugging ipsec cry

and retrieve debug output after trying to connect.

  • Certificates for IPSEC vpn in ASA 8.0 clients

    Hello!

I have configured MS CA and I have setup client vpn and ASA 7.0 make tunnel with certificates.

Same configuration does not work with ASA 8.0 I get the error

Why the use of the key is invalid? What model of certificate must be used in MS in order to get a regular use of the key?

    The schooling of CA's Terminal.

    Thank you!

The cert needs to have defined Digital Signature key usage.

Don't know what models are available on MS, but it should be something like "User Ipsec" I guess.

Make 8 ASA behave like ASA 7 (i.e. disable th control on the use of the key of the cert), configure:

  • IP Phone/Android IPSEC VPN to ASA using AnyConnect

With course of Blackberry support in our Organization, we are eager to implement, configure, and deploy a vpn to access remote ipsec Ikev2 of our ASA 5540 9.1 (5) 19 (license Premium VPN) for the iphone and android.

Was so fair to ask is - it possible, if it is possible, what is the best approach to take, and if someone has a recommended best practices?

And do we need to purchase several licenses for AnyConnect for Mobile?

As looked at loads of documentation, but have I just more confused.

    So, any help much appreciated.

  • I can weight of the IPSec Tunnels between ASAs

    Hello

Remote site: link internet NYC 150 MB/s

Local site: link internet Baltimore 400 MB/s

Backup site: link internet Washington 200 Mb/s

My main site and my backup site are connected via a gigabit Ethernet circuit between the respective base site switches.  Each site has its own internet connection and my OSPF allows to switch their traffic to the backup site if the main website is down.  We are opening an office in New York with one ASA unique connected to 150 Mbps FIOS internet circuit.  We want to set up an IPSec tunnel on the main site and the backup on the remote site, but want the remote site to prefer the tunnel in Baltimore, except if it is down.

Interesting traffic would be the same for the two tunnels

I know that ASA cannot be a GRE endpoint.  How can I force the New York traffic through the tunnel in Baltimore as long as it works?  An IPSec tunnel can be weighted?

    Thank you

It is not in itself weighting, but you can create up to 10 backup over LAN to LAN VPN IPsec peers.

For each tunnel, the security apparatus tried to negotiate with the first peer in the list. If this peer does not respond, the security apparatus made his way to the bottom of the list until a peer responds, or there is no peer more in the list.
