Forms 12 c and Oracle Express?

Anyone know if the RCU for 12 c forms must be included in a database of Oracle Express? I would like to set up a development PC with forms 12 c but I don't want to put the UCR in my production database.

I remember the good old days of forms 10g with a single installer which could both install forms and reports more SSO with database included. The complexity and overhead of the new versions of forms makes it difficult to justify the upgrade for my business.

The repository database is necessary if you want to have a runtime environment.  You said that you don't want to have the repository schemas in the prod db to test your dev.  Do you use data from production to test your 'dev '?  It may be a good idea to have a database of development both for rest and data.  That said, the patterns of Repo are particularly well appointed, in order to install them in an existing db should not create a problem.

Oracle XE is not certified.  A list of databases that have been certified in the certification of products.

  • SQLDeveloper and Oracle Express

I have installed SQL Developer and work.
Then I installed the Express database; After that, I was unable to connect to a database as I used to. I usually use TNS connection, but now SQLDev reads the TNSNames from the XP database, instead of oracle home. I think that's the reason why I can't connect more...
    Any thoughts would be welcome.
    Thanks for any help.

I hate when that happens, so I travel my TNSNAMES. ORA and SQLNET. ORA files on any particular Oracle home. For example, if Oracle Home is C:/Oracle/product/db1, and then I move C:/Oracle/product/network/admin/*.ora to C:/Oracle/admin/network.

Can I use control panel/system/advanced/environment of Control Variables to add a new environment variable:
    TNS_ADMIN = C: / Oracle/admin/network

Therefore, any Oracle Home I use, the TNSNAMES. File ORA who gets used is C:/Oracle/admin/network. Installation of a new piece of software Oracle does not change this.

  • Oracle APEX Performance on Oracle Express Edition

    Hello

I was wondering if someone can help me, I'm looking to change my environment hosted on a virtual server. The server running VMWARE Windows 2012 R2 and Oracle Express Edition with the latest version of the APEX.

    The server would be:

    3Gig Ram

    25Gig storage

    1 virtual processor

Someone at - he no idea how it would perform? I currently have applications with up to 200 people using the system at a point in time. Performance is critical obviusly and I don't want this virtual solution if I'll take a drop in performance.

Just to clarify, the only reason why I'm looking to spend are all my clients are located in South Africa and I am currently hosted in the United Kingdom. The shift would be seriously reduced if I moved to accommodation in South Africa.

    Thanks in advance.

    Andrew

    Hi André,.

I did a few tests of performance and scalability with APEX on XE with JMeter (https://jmeter.apache.org/)

The limitation of the XE is mainly database size (I think only 11 GB for user data) and max 1 GB for the database altogether instance.

When you use the EPG of APEX I started to run into trouble after 20 + sessions at the same time.

When you use the earpiece of the APEX, I was able to push a tot of factor 2 3...

After that XE has usually crashed due to problems of memory.

Everything depends on the application and how active users are their session but more importantly could give you a good indication that XE isn't the way to go for 200 users working at the same time.

Maybe check jmeter (very easy) with your application and the config to see when it crashes. SE1 could also be a cheap alternative.

  • SSO ADF and Oracle Forms?

    Hello

Is there a recommended way to share authentication between ADF and Oracle forms?

We currently use Oracle 11 g 2 forms and we have our forms developed in-house running on this.  I would like to start working on some applications of the ADF, but I do not know how to ensure that the username and passwords are the same for our existing forms applications and any new request to ADF we add.

    I would use JDeveloper 12 c.

We have < 100 users, so this isn't a large installation, and most users are (same office).

    Thanks for ideas or advice.

  • Deployment of Oracle Express and Java Application in a single installation

Is it possible to deploy a Java application using Oracle express as the back-end in an installation? So in other words, rather than the installation of oracle express separately from the application, we seek to install from an executable file, including the java application and all the necessary components for oracle express to run.

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Mahmoud

    Hello

You can install the database using a response file. Depending on the setup of your Java application, you can create a sort of meta-Installer creates a response file for the database and a response/parameter file for your application setup program and then run both in a single step.
See the corresponding [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18802/toc.htm#BABCCGCF] section of the Setup Guide for more information about the answer file.

  • Perform a remote debugging and Oracle Forms (6i)

    Hello
We do not have E-Business Suite 11.5.10 and I was wandering if it is possible to use SQL Developer to debug remotely the PL/SQL which called Forms.

We have been able to call the dbms_debug_jdwp of one of the packages and it did bring back us to the SQL Developer and has stopped at the breakpoint, but then after more walk and run PL/SQL to the end the session of forms is crushed and we were not able to return to the form with the results and continue.
Everyone went through a similar exercise with success?

  • There is Airfoil and Airport Express, latency/delay time?

I want to be able to direct the output of my iMac "end 2014' 5K (10.11.6) on my stereo system (ParaSound P3/A23) using AirFoil 5 with Airport Extreme > Airport Express."

But the audio output should be "real time." in other words, no delay or latency at all. Both are in the same room!

I use notation software (Sibelius) and need to hear what I write immediately. Unlike streaming where I think there is an acceptable delay (2 seconds?) for the buffering?

    Is this possible please?

If it isn't with AirFoil, any advice on how welcome :-)

I want to be able to direct the output of my iMac "end 2014' 5K (10.11.6) on my stereo system (ParaSound P3/A23) using AirFoil 5 with Airport Extreme > Airport Express."

With AirPlay (or Bluetooth), there will always be a form of delay or latency with streaming audio.

In this scenario, an audio stream (on AirPlay) will go first to your iMac to AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express Terminal.

To help understand why there will be delays, let's look at high-level "behind the scenes" about how works AirPlay:

For the AirPort Express (AX), audio input is provided mainly by iTunes. Of course, it can also get feedback from other sources as you know, as of Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil.

For streaming, iTunes or wing does most of the work. What is app reads audio content standard (AAC, MP3, audio books, Internet music streams, etc., it decompresses these file formats and creates what is essentially a raw, uncompressed audio stream.) This stream is compressed using Lossless Compression of Apple (via a QuickTime codec), encrypted with AES 128 bits and then listened (airplay) with an AXE. The stream is buffered for about 2 seconds until the stream is sent. The AX deciphers the flow, decodes and exports in a digital or analog PCM (using a built-in DAC) flows to its audio analog-to-digital versatile optical port.

So, with the above, you can see that the tone does not simply move source to the destination without much more things. You will not be able to entirely eliminate the delay. Sorry!

  • Forms 11g, WebLogic and NodeManager

    Hello

I'm relatively new to form 11g. I am doing an installation in development mode, and all works well.

In my setup, I have to run little web - app (servlet). With iDS10g, I use Tomcat for this. Now, I try to use WebLogic. If in the WebLogic Console, I create a new 'server', listening on port 8080.

First question, so I want to run this server, I start Node Manager (I've never used before...). Why?

I deploy my war files and works very well.

Now I restart WebLogic and my new 'server' stay stopped. I must launch NodeManager to run it...

Is second question, possible that my "Server" runs automatically at startup of WebLogic? And if possible, without having to run NodeManager?

    Thank you!

I guess here that you have created a new server managed your installation of development? Technically speaking there is not much difference between the AdminServer and the managed server; for a development environment, I would save me the hassle of 2 developing weblogic servers so I don't know what you're trying to achieve? (to be honest I really don't get the point of having 2 managed servers for execution of the Servlets 3 in production either, but that's another story)

You can deploy your war on the AdminServer files as well - in forms 11.1.2 Oracle who done with servlets forms and reports both in development mode so there is nothing wrong with that. Instead to access your Application via Port 8080, you simply access it via port 7001 (or whatever port you used for AdminServer). No need to NodeManager – just start the AdminServer.

If you really want to use a server managed, with that you could start it upward the script startManagedWeblogic.cmd in the same directory that the startWeblogic.cmd is located (just pass the name of the managed server). But still - I don't see why it is not necessary to use a server here.

In production, you can choose to deploy your war AdminServer, WLS_FORMS or WLS_REPORTS file. If you configure OHS respectively it shouldn't matter much.

    see you soon

  • Open the characteristics of Michael Ferrante on forms 12 c :) and some c omplaints

I had seen that he's open to talk about new features, but I think that most of the oracle forms is not very well defined, and maybe someone want some comment on that.

Hello Michale Ferrante I have some questions for you.

I am a certified oracle developer forms and oracle database and our company has worked with oracle, more than ten years ago.

    (1) the design and the niche in the market that Oracle Forms and the need for advanced graphic features

I remember a beta version of forms, I think that it was 3.2, it has all the features to move and draw on the screen, and for some oracle of reason which rejected, and I think it was OK under the strategy of a client database, this isn't a software to make the games.

But as time passes, the customer needs more features visual, I must acknowledge the work of François Degrelle in forms look and feel project .

Most of the software in large companies are now client server, and they have too many mobile client software and others that requires the features of high graphics, from one screen to buy items, to a customer of entertainment to marketing.

In the example: you have a restaurant, they want in an ipad, a menu, and you want to do in the form of oracle, here is where oracle has a big hole.

This includes of course more functions for working with media types, such as audio in the database, video in the database, audio and video from other sources, like youtube, etc.

    (2) the positioning of oracle forms againt other products oracle, oracle should give a clear positioning of all products related to oracle forms and how they incorporate.

Oracle has proposed new products, such as adf, apex, etc. and is not only my perception, much thought customer oracle forms would be replaced, but they can't because the idea of oracle is an easy tool for development and in theory with more features (it's the reason why you should have to pay more than 20,000 per customer)

But personally, I see that I do not see BETTER in the product.

Customers need a clear vision of how the oracle introduces their different tools in example, specifically oracle must decide where is oracle in this net of product development, client of Mr. If you want to develop, forms oracle is why adf this apex for that, for this java, etc. instead of presenting a confusing set of products ,

Oracle gives messages are confusing, that is the reason why many customers thought oracle forms would be abandoned and they MUST migrate to adf, this message that I saw too much while reading about adf.

If coupled with additional confusion with previous development of sun products, Oracle must order their ideas and show a structure of the tools in the suite, which is full, which makes sense, instead of "we have all the tools of development of this, study and choose one, and good luck."

    (3) improvement of the editor

no more comments, just update the form with all editor the Editor doesn't like any other software.

    (4) new and interesting ideas, a real change of attitude of the oracle and oracle reports developer

I think the additional graphics functionality, clarity in the relationship of forms with other products, and improvements in the editor are obvious.

then comes something new and interesting forms oracle could present, no necessary to what the current client does, if not for the new procedures, for example a great app for ipads, a generator of models of various boxes,.

I said something big, because until now, I had seen oracle is a tool of gray, all other tools, delphi, visual studio, adf, etc. has several very interesting improvements, but forms oracle moves like a turtle in this way, as living separated from the jurisdiction of the market development tools.

    It's like a wake-up CALL

    (5) to separate the teams of developing forms and oracle reports.

The reason is to offer a less expensive product, and because for reports, there are cheapersolutions, plain html pages to free software as reports of jasper.

It is is important to separate development of oracle reports and forms of the oracle team, he moves to make it really better justify the investment and the reports to be considered as an independent product compatible with other oracle products.

In example, perhaps you could add as a solution at the apex, not only to print pdf reports.

    (6) the graphical component lost and optional free projects open (requiring the license of oracle forms-based of course)

graph of Oracle Server customer oracle 6i, has several problems, but in a moment lost, idon't see nowadays too dificult to make a graphic really nice editor, oracle forms could make a free graphics project.

Oracle Forms should motivate in an organized system, the developer of forms oracle to use and improve open components, it is 1) good items you need and should install 2) the elements of ther o based on ideas, you may find it useful in some way at the same time they develop to become an interesting compoennt and move to the Group 1).

    (7) the albums of other development oracle technologies Integrator

Oracle Forms, especially for the price, I think that should be the High option and integrate all the other tools of development, it is, you can use free apex or essential to the adf, but if you want more, then purchase a license of the adf, if you want more then buy forms oracle, something like that.

Think of this form of Oracle idea should be somehow integrated with jheadstart.

Once you do this, then the oracle development tools will make sense, instead the attitude oracle currently has to "choose all these development tools, we have and good luck."

In this idea, and then force to buy oracle reports might be a good idea, because it comes to the top of every thing, the best more than adf and apex, java, etc.

    (8) specialists in the oracle database

These are the oracle forms is something important, a client for oracle, so it should support all the features of oracle databas, e this includes the posibility

software sincronize with versions of oracle database,

return of flame, etc. should be part of counter, create environments to test and restore the backups.

It's don't forget Oracle their first venture is the database and their tools should complement technologies in the database.

    (9) the new age of basic developed compoements

Anyone who wants to start a business must program all the fundamentals, it's exhange management, user management, etc..

I've suggested previously to oracle is to create a software base (database, developer and reports), free, so you can take them and start over, this should include basci funcions to manage basic safety features such as creating a user, the user of the monitor, etc basic functionality for enterprise software, etc., clob, number, date.

It is doing something no one had done.

    hope to be useful

Thank you very much for your comments and dedication to the product.  We appreciate all the ideas and comments.

I wanted to comment on some things you said.

"... the need for... advanced graphic features. »

Years, Oracle Forms had a sister product called Oracle Graphics.  It was a product that gave you the ability to create almost any kind of graphics or graphics that your creative mind could imagine.  However, in my opinion, it was very difficult and tedious to use.  For various reasons, Oracle has decided to stop manufacturing and chart support a long time ago.  I suspect part of the reason for the abandonment of the product was that with today's web deployed forms, add your own graphics features are easy enough using Java Beans or even product Oracle BI-haricots.

"... "This includes of course more functions to work with media types... »

We are planning to add that support in future versions of some media.  Exactly what version or what types of media is yet to be determined.  Development is currently studying the best approach for implementing such features.  But as for tracing, add your own support via a Java Bean is simple enough and for people who are not very well informed in Java, there are many free examples available on the Internet.  This example should provide an excellent starting point.

"... Client of Mr. If you want to develop, oracle forms is present, adf to do this, apex to do this, for that, etc. instead of presenting a confusing the value of products, java... »

If you read a part, documentation each product (General presentation documents), you will see that, at a high level already do.  Explain us what the product, how it works, some of his strengths, etc.  However, it would be impossible for any vendor to tell you exactly which tool you use for your specific job.  We/they can offer an opinion, but exactly what you're using, it's a decision that you must make based on several factors.  For example, you talked about a restaurant.  You can build an application that is used to take orders in the forms or ADF.  Either will do the job.  In most cases, which will make you choose one over the other is the skill value available to accomplish the task.  If your organization does not have a single Java developer, but it has several pl/sql developers, then choosing ADF maybe not the best choice.  In this case, the forms can be the best choice.  Alternatively, you can recycle your existing developers, you can hire new employees who know Java or ADF or hire a third party to help you develop the application in the ADF.  Again, only you can answer these questions.

It's no different than any other product.  Consider Microsoft Visual Studio.  I can use almost any technology throughout (VB, C++, c#, etc.) to build an application that performs the same tasks.  But if I don't know C++ (for example), why should I choose to use C++ if the application will accomplish the same task in the end?  I'd rather the product know my team.  An exception could be if some other technologies offers a feature not found in the other.  For example, with the ADF, you can easily access on mobile devices.  But even this can be overcome with Forms.  For example with the use of Oracle Partner, AuraPlayerof the product, you can use your existing form request to expose web services to mobile applications without having to change your code to forms.

In short, we intend to add many new features for future versions of the forms.  Exactly what they will be always plans even though many have already been implemented for the next version.  For some people, the changes we present can be considered to be a much-needed change, and for others, they may feel that the amendments add little value.  It is always difficult to make everyone happy.  I hope that soon (I don't know exactly at what time yet) you will be able to meet up with me at various conferences around the world (Open World, WORLD, DOAG, etc) where I will introduce our new items for the new version of forms.  If all goes well, most of you will appreciate the hard work that Oracle Forms developers have put in updates for the next future releases.  We have a very dedicated team of developers who work on a regular basis to ensure that you can easily upgrade with confidence.

    Thanks again for your comments!

  • Oracle Express does not not at startup

    Hello

I need to analyze some things for my work and I decided to that home. To do this, I want to install Oracle Express 11 g on a desktop at home. I read that Oracle Express will be loaded at the start of the desktop computer and you can unload the database after the start. It's not what I really want. What I would like is that I can load Oracle Express the time I need, but have no active on other times.

Is it possible to configure Oracle Express like this. I already had a peek at the most common options, but I couldn't find anything (but maybe I just missing).

    Thank you

    Kind regards

    Rob.

You specify your operating system, assuming that Windows (if no, please specify): If Yes, you can

-Configure XE services such as manual

-create two bat icons on the desktop, for example

    • xe_start with the content

    net start OracleXETNSListener

    net start OracleServiceXE

    • xe_stop with the content

    net stop OracleXETNSListener

    net stop OracleServiceXE

  • Forms 11 g and Java 7?

I have installed 11.1.2.1 forms and you want to use the latest Java 7 plugin for IE and Firefox. Can someone tell me what formsweb.cfg parameters should be for Java 7 update 45?

Before using Java 7 with 11.1.2.1.0 forms, I'll make sure that you use Oracle WebLogic Server (WLS) 10.3.6 because this is the only version supported with Java 7 WLS. For more information, refer to the Oracle Certification Matrix for forms 11.1.2.1.0 to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/oracle-forms-111210certmatrix-1886127.xls.

If you use WLS 10.3.6, these are the parameters for formsweb.cfg use for Java 7 update 45:

    jpi_download_page =http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/7u45/index.html

    jpi_classid = clsid:CAFEEFAC-0017-0000-0045-ABCDEFFEDCBA

    jpi_codebase =http://java.sun.com/update/1.7.0/jinstall-7-windows-i586.cab#Version=1, 7,0,45

    jpi_mimetype = application/x-Java-applet; YPI-version = 1.7.0_45

The settings above will require the end-user to install Java 7 update 45.

If you only want so that end users to use Java 7 update 45 for a single application, put these settings in your configuration in formsweb.cfg section. If you have any applications use Java 7 update 45, place them in the [default] section of formsweb.cfg. If you place them in the [default] section, do not forget to comment parameters four already present YPI pointing to Java 6 Update 12.

The following article is also helpful with information regarding the use of Java 7 update 45 with forms 11.1.2.1.0: http://pitss.com/us/2013/02/20/how-to-use-java-7-with-oracle-forms-11g-in-an-oracle-supported-environment/
