Freezing at the Office - cannot open all the files, shortcuts, start menu, etc.

I was running a lot of programs when my computer froze. I press power to restart and chose to restart in normal mode. I was able to get on my desktop, but unable to do anything else. My mouse wouldn't work, but Office would freeze if I tried to open anything. I closed and open in safe mode with networking, and it seems to work very well. I did a system restore, without success. Help, please!

Try the safe mode with Networking if you will not be able to access it via the Normal Mode.

    ·         Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read write files in public folders.

    c. If you want any user to access public actions disable password protection.  It is located in the sharing settings advanced to the bottom of the list (protected by password sharing).

    ·         Turn off password protected sharing.

    d. If you want to keep it enabled, make sure that there is a newspaper account that the other XP machine and they have a password.

    e. over on your XP machine open my network places to search for the shared folder of Windows 7.

    f. double-click the shared folder to find a list of shared folders in the folder Public of Windows 7.  If you have password protection enabled you will have to type the user name and password of the user account on the windows 7 machine first.

I know that vmnet.tar was here before... and he suddenly disappeared. How do we do it back, or can I download it somewhere? Thank you.

A little worrying that this file should simply disappear - never happened on any of my guests. Check the logs, etc. for possible reasons. You get also warnings much more when you run vmware - config.pl I've ever encountered. What files did you manually have to move?

If you download the tarball, extract the file from here and place it in the folder "/ usr/lib/vmware/modules/source", then you should probably go further. Should also be vmci.tar, vmnet.tar and vsock.tar in there.

    Hello

    1. what changes have been made to your computer before the problem?

Follow these steps and check if they help.

    Step 1:

I would say you rebuild the icon cache and check if the problem persists.

    a. press the keyboard Windows logo key combination + R to bring up the Run dialog box.
    b. type cmd and press ENTER to open the command prompt window.
    c. in the command prompt window, type the following commands pressing ENTER after each line:
    Taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
    attrib-h "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\IconCache.db.
    del "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\IconCache.db.
    Explorer.exe

    d. this restart Windows Explorer and rebuild the cache icons as needed.

    Step 2:

Test the issue in a new user account.

    Hello

Please contact us to help you with your concern.

Try the following and check whether you can open all files.

    Method 1:

You can try to change the default program or the file association and check:

Visit this link to learn more about 'The change that uses the Windows default programs'.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/change-which-programs-Windows-uses-by-default

    Method 2:

Try the steps from the following link and check:

Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article:

When you run an .exe on a Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer file, the file can start another program

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/950505

    Method 3:

I might suggest to run a full scan with your anti-virus/anti-malware software and see if you find something. If necessary you can also use the Microsoft Safety Scanner:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

  • How to rebuild the Windows 7 start menu?

Having had a virus and deleted successfully, I find myself with a strange problem.

The virus, among other things, seems to have changed the menu start removing the 'pinned' programs is not a problem, but also remove the contents of the folders in "all programs", for example under "Microsoft Office" is a subfolder called "office tools" (empty), but nothing else.
All programs are always there and the work that they are not available on the start menu. There must be a way to rebuild this menu without having to reinstall each of the very many pieces of software on the computer.

    Suggestions welcome.

Common to all users start menu is C:\users\all users\microsoft\windows\start menu.
For each menu C:\users\username\appdata\roaming\Microsoft\window s\start user.
By default, these are hidden files.
Open Windows Explorer and create shortcuts, copy, paste etc.
