from different firefox profiles

Wonder if I had similar problems (bug) when I used a new profile of costs. So I created a. I have the same problems with the new profile. My new question is how to make firefox ask me whenever the profile I want to use when I open it. I changed don't have issue on and off in the Profile Manager, but apparently doing nothing to let me pick one way or another. I would return to my profile all day as default and choose when I want to use my staff when I choose. So far it keeps going in newly created a default.

When you choose to start another profile in the Profile Manager, which should become the new value by default until you change it again.

I'm surprised he doesn't ask you when you toggle this option; Maybe Firefox isn't really close completely between the reboots?

If the interactive dialog box does not work, you can manually change the file profiles.ini. I hope this won't be necessary.

Note that you need to access your user account's library folder (/ users) and not the library folder in the root (/ library).

In Mac OS X v10.7 and later versions, the file $HOME/Library is a hidden folder.

Open Finder and use one of them:

    • Go > go to folder (command-SHIFT-G) and in the type of dialogue: ~/Library
    • Open the 'Go' menu and hold down the Option key to display the library

Try to use the Profile Manager to create a new profile as a test to check if your profile is causing problems.

  • Is there a way I can restore my backup profile that I took from a folder (for example Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\)

    Before re-installing Firefox 19, I took by mistake backup my profile in a folder - C:\Documents and Settings\garan14\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles and not from C:\Documents and Settings\garan14\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles.

When installing, I chose option "Delete old profiles" and I don't see any old folder under C:\Documents and Settings\garan14\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles profile.

However, I have a lot of important data stored under that profile that has now been deleted.

Is there a way I can restore the old profile data? (PS: as stated above, I have a backup of the profile folder that is located under the Local Settings folder)

I'm in a desperate need for aid. Pls reply as soon as possible.

Firefox stores only cache files to the location of the local settings and not the files in the main folder of the Firefox profile.

There is no need to save this place in local contexts in any case.

The main folder of the Firefox profile is in "C:\Documents and Settings\ < user > change Data" on Windows XP.

If you have deleted your personal data during the uninstallation of Firefox and do not have a backup then your only option is to use an undelete utility to see if you can recover this profile folder.

  • How can I remove an account from a computer profile without deleting data?

Hello! I want to delete mozilla of a computer and delete my account profile so that all my data on this computer is removed. But I use the same profile in mozilla on a different computer and I do not know if my profile will retain the data stored on this computer after it is deleted in the other. Can you please clarify this issue for me. Thank you!

    Best,
    Vanya

If you want to remove your personal data on a reliable computer, then you will need to perform a secure erase to erase the data on the hard drive.
Otherwise Windows will mark only data as being deleted.

It is best to disconnect from Sync before you delete data on a computer to prevent other computers from getting affected.

You can use the Profile Manager to delete a profile.

  • How delete my favorites from the Firefox browser on a public computer, after you have synchronized my account to see during a browsing session?

Here's what I'm trying to achieve:

    1. I use Firefox on another computer and synchronize my account to retrieve my favorites. (This works).
    2. After completing my browsing session, I sign my account of Firefox and my favorites are removed from the Firefox browser. (It does not).

    I tried the following options:

    (a) open the menu > Options > synchronization > uncheck the box "Bookmark" > OK. This doesn't erase my favorites from the browser, even if I close and open it again. They all appear.

    (b) open the menu > Options > synchronization > under Firefox account click on "Logout" > OK. This erases my favorites either, only necessecitates me connecting to synchronize again.

I understand there was an option to 'untie this device', which can erase all data, including bookmarks, but I can't find it anywhere. I also read an article suggesting bookmarks etc. of the compensation is possible by removing your Firefox profile from a device, but I fear that this will remove the global options such as I will not be able to access it on my computer at home.

Surely, there must be a means of siging in, then the Firefox account on different computers, as you can with the email without leaving all your bookmarks etc open for other users to see later? I am transfer to Firefox Chrome precisely because it doesn't have the ability to do (creepily) and to clear my favorites from the browser of a friends, I had to uninstall Chrome on his computer!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    (A) that in the future, even when logged in, your bookmarks will be re - synchronizes the means of action.

    (B) action means that no synchronization of your account will occur in the future unless you disconnect.

I hope this has helped you!

  • How can I get a new firefox profile?

My firefox was working properly before, I made a few bad decisions (I deleted a bunch of stuff, I know now that I shouldn't have deleted) and now when I try to open it, I get a pop up window that says:

    'Missing profile '.

Cannot load your Firefox profile. It may be the mission or inaccessible. "

I came to the conclusion that I need a whole new firefox, I'll miss the old favorites, but I don't need them. Please could someone explain how I can create a new firefox profile? I love using firefox and I don't want to use a different browser. I'm on a mac.

This article describes how to create a new profile: use the Profile Manager to create and delete profiles Firefox.

You may also be able to find old favorites, but we will go back when Firefox is up and running in a fresh profile.

  • where the fav icons are stored in the Firefox profile? You can drag and drop on the bookmarks?

Two related issues to fav icons:

1 where are the fav icon stored in my Firefox profile?

2 is it not warned to drag an icon on an element of bookmark on my bookmarks (no icon) bar and it updated the icon? (I have a right-click on the bookmark and I couldn't see any field of fav icon.)

    Thank you

Favicons are stored in the file places.sqlite and bookmarks.

No, you cannot drag a Favicon in your bookmarks. If you drag a tab favorite icon, all that would happen is that you would be again to add the bookmark and the favicon may not be kept if it was not the first time that you have saved the first time. Try it and see what happens...

There is no field for Favicon in the context menu of bookmark. There used to be a couple of extensions available at different times which allowed users to add a favicon to a bookmark, but it's been a while that we have seen this type of extension that was compatible.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/Favicon-Picker-3/
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/Favicon-Picker-2/
Neither have been updated after a Firefox update beat each at different times, and nobody has updated '3' a final which broke.

  • Unique firefox profile all users and profiles on networks

I am trying to configure Firefox like standard browser for an entire building, and this framework is to ensure that all firefox profiles are registered readers personal network rather than local machines. I can use the Profile Manager to do this on a user base, but what happens if I want that all users of any machine, using the same firefox profile that points to a specific network drive? (This will ensure users always have their browser settings and no matter where they go, allow us to move outside machines without losing all the browser settings, etc..) The contents of this drive is specific to the user account, but still have the same way.)

As far as I know, the profiles created in the Profile Manager are specific to each user (domain), which would mean a lot of creating manual profile. Is it possible to ensure that Firefox always uses a specific profile of Firefox or the path? Is it possible to have the control of firefox profiles exist (in a .bat file, for example), so I can create the appropriate injector if necessary? Can I use a command line to set the profile to be used by default, or that can be done from the GUI Profile Manager?

Finally and this can justify a separate query, but I found that when you use profiles that link to a network drive, trying to open firefox on multiple computers will fail (another instance of firefox is open, close it or restart). I can tell Firefox to force the old instance closed, or I have to firefox.exe - no-remote 'differentProfile' Pei each time?

We are on Windows 7, moreover, for the sake of references.

Sort of. I don't always have a perfect method to check the presence of a profile, but as a solution, I'm looking in the drive location of my custom profile for prefs.js Server (IF EXISTS 'path\path\Firefox\prefs.js' (thing do)), and that will at least tell me if I have created something here or not.

  • My Firefox browser does not open. It says "cannot load your Firefox profile. It may be missing or inaccessible. "Help, please.

I tried to re-open it. But it did not open. I tried to do this several times.

    It's the same thing.

Whenever I try o open Firefox, the msg - box says: "your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible. »

    Help, please...!

A likely cause is a problem with the file profiles.ini and the profile marked as the default value = 1 in this file is no longer present on the hard drive.

You can use one of them to make the Creation/use of a new default profile for Firefox:

    • Remove the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new default profile
    • Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile
    • Use "Choose a folder" when you create a new profile to select the location of a lost profile and recover this profile
  • Platform of Firefox profiles are independent?

I would like to transfer my profile data from Windows 7 to 7 Debian. for some reason any the right Sync feature does not work for me.

So my question is, are cross platform compatible Firefox profiles?

for example. can I just copy my windows profile...
    "< Profile folder > %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.
    my profile on linux?...
    "< profile folder > ~/.mozilla/firefox/.

Not 100% compatible. Some preferences in the file prefs.js (essentially paths from what I've observed files) and some files added by modules may not be fully compatible.

My advice is to copy the files in the profile folder, one at a time, using as a guide for the files to copy.

  • I use firefox on a computer with Windows XP and Ubuntu, with the card-Firefox profile in a separate, partition do not have to remove the 'blocking of parent' whenever I want to use Firefox.

I have Firefox in the Windowspartition of my computer and the Linuxpartition from my computer, I have a third partition where I store my personal data, such as my Firefox-profile-map and my download card.
If I'm not manually delete 'Parent Lock' Firefox will not start it is already an open session.
It would be better not to have this system of parentlock.

It would be better to use two separate profiles for each operating system and synchronize data between the two, because there can be other problems as well with the caches that use current versions of Firefox and other files that store the paths of dependent files of the OS.
