  We have a production db (PROD) and a test db (TEST). Both are on linux redhat with db version 11 GR 2 and both are on CARS.
  
  Using this method to refresh the current test environment a:
  
  with Sunday's full backup tape backup and restore to the test db. Then recover to the point of time. Then recreate the TEST environment by pointing the db on TEST environment, and then recover to required timestamp (say, Wednesday 09:00). It usually takes 4 days to make.
  So let's say that a request on 22/09/2012 for a Test database to be updated until environment 19/09/2012 (Test usually needs to be updated once a quarter).
  
  The tedious steps we took 4 days for finishup all.

  Why not create a database from the night BEFORE and use the Standby Database Snapshot feature?

  A database snapshot pending can be opened in read-write mode and is fully editable. You can undo the change caused during tests performed on this database and keep refreshing this prod database without running a full restore (i.e. apply only to redo)

  Therefore, at regular intervals, the database copy images of each block modified in each data file in the flashback logs. These block images can later be used to restore the contents of the data file from any time during which the logs were captured.

  When a database is restored to its State at some time target using Flashback Database, each block has changed since that time is restored from the copy of the block in the flashback logs more immediately before the time of the desired target. The redo log is then used to re - apply the changes since the time this block was copied in flashback logs.

  Note:

  Newspapers of recovery must be available for the entire period caused by the flashback logs, either on tape or on disk. (In practice, however, redo logs are usually needed much longer retention of flashback target to support point-in-time recovery.)

  I installed version OEM Grid Control 5 on a rhel 5.3. I started to deploy agents on multiple hosts (windows 2003 and linux). I now opened ports in the firewall:
  TCP_4889: agent-> control grid
  TCP_1521: grid-> agent control
  TCP_3872: grid-> agent control
  
  Agents are up and I see all the instances in the target/databases tab.
  Here's my problem:
  The State of each instance is Metric Collection error and the message is * "this database is not configured."
  
  When I click on Configure , then test the connection , I have the following error:
