Full administration must off UAC?

On another forum has a photo editing software for some tech support person tell everyone that they must stop their UAC before running a program with admin access because it's the only way to get full admin access.

Is this correct?

UAC prevents still certain functions happen even if you run the program as administrator?  What is a bunch of hooey?

I would like to know, because if it's not true then I would stop the Advisor.  I know a few people who have decided to just simply give up the UAC because they thought he did more harm than good because of this post.

All directors have administrator access total - there are not different types of administrators.  It is true that the built-in Administrator account has access more than all other administrator accounts you can do, but you can't duplicate this account (you can't give these rights to any other account) and it should be left disabled unless necessary emergency - not for something like this (and you certainly don't want to activate the built-in on all systems administrator account and let their permits or for) the worst let people use it as their main account).  There is a security risk and it gives you also no help if you have problems with your other administrator accounts.  Moreover, 'extra' rights is essentially the ability to bypass the UAC restrictions easier (it doesn't add additional rights or access) but not all - UAC can always block even this account.

There are programs that have problems with the UAC.  Generally, these can be corrected by contacting the manufacturer of the program and explainiing the problem and they will often have a solution that will solve the problem without disabling UAC (which I recommend strongly against). In addition, there is no guarantee the built-in Administrator account would be more successful than ordinary administrators with these programs.  Some, however, continue to have problems that even the manufacturers cannot solve - it is rare, but there are.  This can often be corrected by adding the program as an exception of UAC, but even that doesn't always work.  In these cases, the best choice is to find a different program that does not cause the problem.

I can't advise you what to do here; However, I strongly suggest you do not use the built-in administrator accounts (if they even solve the problem) and most strongly recommend that you not disable UAC.  Find out what can be done and see if there is another way to do it without disabling UAC.  If you decide to disable UAC when using the program, at least make him a policy it can only be disabled when you use this program (or better, only when you use the functionality of the program that blocks the UAC) and must be reactivated immediately after use is made.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

  • Impossible to run as administrator. Disabled UAC administrator

I recently changed the name of the account from my computer by running netplwiz on windows 7. After the change has been made, I restarted my computer. I realized that the account had changed to a guest account administrator account. I went to user accounts to change the account back to admin. When I click on "change your account type", a UAC dialog box appeared prompting for the password and the 'Yes' option is greyed out. I tried to run CMD as administrator, but the UAC dialog box does not allow me.

  • Error: ORA-01841: (full) year must be between-4713 and 9999 and not 0

Hi - I get error ORA-01841 ((full) year must be between-4713 and 9999 and not 0) because of the following line in my where clause:

    AND p_run_date < ((add_months (ip. insured_plan_termination_date,,13) nvl), to_date (31-DEC-9999. ' ' DD-MON-YYYY '))

I look and what I read speaks not to compare the strings that contain dates, but that is not the case here.   p_run_date is without a doubt a date.  I've hardcoded even on a specific date, and I still get the error.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Christine

    Hi, Christine.

What is insured_plan_termination_date when you get the error?  If it's December, 9998 or later version, you cannot add 13 months, which would put the year beyond 9999, everything as the error message said.

You said p_run_date is without a doubt one DATE, but what about insured_plan_termination_date?

It would really help if you could post a test script complete (including CREATE TABLE and INSERT and your complete query instructions) so that people can recreate the problem and test their ideas.

  • best way to add and change the menu all programs without turning off UAC?

I just download HJsplit, as someone has sent me a video file into segments to overcome the limitations of attachment size. HJsplit doesn't require installation, but UAC is actually prevents me from adding it to the start menu.

What would be the 'proper' normal procedure to add it to the menu all programs on the start menu, preferably in an existing folder, called "utility" without having to go through two reboots to turn UAC on or off?

If there was a previous version of Windows 95 and XP, I would have included the word "shortcut" in the paragraph above.

Essentially the same as option B in my two ways, but without the use of the command prompt to start the Explorer. By Microsoft Design, it is impossible to remove the original "Administrator" account.

Perhaps the original ' administrator' account has been renamed to be that user.  If so, it cannot be deleted.
Just rename it to "Administrator" (right click on 'My Computer'-> manage-> local users and groups-> users-> right click on the user-> rename) and put a good password on it.

You can also try to delete the profile.
Right click on "My Computer"-> properties-> Advanced (tab)-> settings (under user profiles)-> [select user]-> Delete

  • I'm an admin, but I do not have full administrator permissions?

Recently, I deleted an administrator account on my computer and got an admin instead, due to the fact that I am the only user now. I keep trying to download something for a game in the Program Files folder, but when I try, it says that I need permission of the administrator. I also tried to make no read-only files, and I got the same thing in General. I needed the administrator permission to continue. It only gives me a place to put a password. The first message tells me that I need an admin approval and apply. The second problem (replacing the files read-only) tells me that I need admin permission to continue, then allows me to continue anyway but doesn't really change the files. I'M AN ADMIN! Is there a way to fix this? (This problem also happening before I deleted the account admin original.)

    Hello

You can try to fix it with Safe Mode - repeatedly press F8 as you bootup. The ADMIN account in trunk
Mode has no default password (unless someone has changed the password so it should be available).

To make another account with your same password - ADMIN upgrade - REBOOT (do not only closing session) and
connect that account - you can download to use it? (make two ADMIN accounts - one in case you
to migrate to it and another to test and difficulty).

It while in the new use of the account to LOWER your account regularly APPLY / OK to need - and then lift it up
Back to ADMIN - repeat several times - descent - go downstairs - raise - repeat. This helps to clean
corruption. Make sure that the account administrator.

Try your downloads into the new account. If the downloads work in the new account, then the former
account needs to be fixed, if possible, or it can be migrated to the new account.

If necessary later this is the process to fix a damaged account or migrate to a new.

    ===================================================

From a post by Rehman F.

Here are the steps to change the ownership and permissions of files and folders:

    1. right click on the file or folder, click Properties, and then click the Security tab.

    2. click on advanced and then click the owner tab.

    3. click on edit and then do one of the following:

    ·    To change the owner to a user or group that is not listed, click other users and groups, and in the box type
the object name to select (examples), type the name of the user or group, and then click OK.

    ·    To change the owner to a user or a group is listed in the change owner to box, click the new owner.

    4. If you want to take ownership of the contents of the folder, select the replace the owner of sub containers and objects check box.

    5. click OK and then click Yes when you receive the following message is displayed:

You are not allowed to read the contents of directory folder name. You want to replace the directory
permissions with permissions granting you full control?

All permissions will be replaced if you click Yes.

Note folder_name is the name of the folder you want to take charge.

    6. click on OK and then reapply the permissions and security settings that you want for the folder and its contents.

    Additional considerations

7· An administrator can take ownership of any file on the computer.

8· Affecting the ownership of a file or a folder might require that raise you your permissions using user access control

    I hope this helps.

  • How do you turn off UAC to make a program that we use all the time?

I have a program, Seagull Jwalk (JW9c.exe) that we use in our business all the time. It works great on windows 7 in compatibility mode. However, whenever I click on the icon to start the program, I get the UAC prompt. given that this has happened several times a day for two weeks now, I don't think that the UAC prompt will disappear on its own. is it possible that I can manually turn off it just for this program? It will really annoy our users. But I don't want to completely lose security which provides the UAC.
