Full backup of the system - Vista Home Premium

I need to create a full backup of the system on a new hard drive external.  But the backup and restore apparently recognizes that I have backed up before an old man, is no longer available, external hard drive.  If it's only to create a very small file (2G) - apparently the data that has changed since I last saved - and not the complete system (~ 110GB).  How can I create a new full backup of the system? I use Vista Home Premium.  TIA, Bill

Hello

Vista Home Premium doesn't have a backup of the computer capabitities. To Vista Business, Ultimate or enterprise.

Need you 3rd Party Software to do what you want to do.

Good pay for program is the following:

Other answers should be able to recommend free programs to do the same thing. It's just that I have not used the others lately to be able to recommend.

  • Order the system Vista Home Premium discs.

I bought a Toshiba Satelite laptop about 9 months, ago and never got around to order Microsoft system disks.  Now I want to upgrade my RAM to 4 GB and try the 64 bit version which should be available on the disks in the factory.  Now, I can't find anything on the windows site on the order of the original disks, only upgrades to different versions of Vista and Win 7.  So I guess my question is, can someone please point me to a page or section of the site to order disks Vista system?
Thanks in advance for any help.

You do not get them from Microsoft.

And as your Vista system is preinstalled, it is classified as an OEM license and that you are not eligible for the 64-bit Media (shipping offer)

I highly recommend that you do * not * try disabling all processes.  Although there may be some that you don't need, you'll save time very little by doing this, and you are much more likely to create a serious problem that in order to solve one.

Also, turning off * everything * automatic start of programs in MSCONFIG is not a good idea. Here is my standard message on the subject:

First of all, note that you should be in * all * the programs that start automatically, not only with those who are in the system tray. Not all the programs auto-start manifesting by an icon in the status bar.

On each program, you don't want to automatically start, check its Options to see if she has the choice to not start (make sure that you actually choose to not run, not simply a "don't display the icon" option). Many can easily and better be arrested like that. If this does not work, run MSCONFIG from the start. Run the line and on the Startup tab, uncheck the programs that you do not want to automatically start.

However, if I were you, I wouldn't do this just for the purpose of the minimum number of running programs. Despite what a lot of people tell you, you should be concerned, not with the way * a lot * of these programs you run, but * that *. Some of them can seriously affect the performance, but others have no effect on performance.

Don't stop all programs to run willy-nilly. What you need to do is to determine what each program is that its value is for you and what the performance cost is running all the time. You can try searching the Internet and ask questions about the details here.

Once you have this information, you can make a smart informed decision on what you want to keep and what you want to get rid of.

  • Windows complete PC Backup and Restore for Vista Home Premium

I finally new PC my son all set up with Vista 64-bit Home Premium and installation is sublime.

But when I looked for a few floppy bootable installation complete I think I bought the wrong version of the program.

"Windows complete PC Backup and Restore" only comes with the Ultimate and Business edition.

Is it possible to add this functionality to my version of windows without switching completely to the Ultimate version?

No, you will need a third party app. Many people prefer Acronis True Image, but I lean toward a slightly more expensive, but a complete solution, with this app.

  • I can't find my photos or documents after making a full backup of the system.

Ihad to create a set of rescue disks due to what I think is a type of malicious software. I could not 'start' my PC in any safe mode and had no choice other than to create records and reset to its factory settings. I did this, then loaded the backup of disks, but I can't find anything that was on them, like docs and photos... etc... What gives?

I down loaded "Avira" an anti virus program and when I do a "full system scan" I see on the screen that they are being monitored, but I can't access them I can not find them... They are not on my shortcuts (desk top)... I am the only user and the Administarter, giving... I think I got the virus from the school, or a global game...

    Hello

You can check the location of the files when you run the Virus can use Avira.

    Method 1:

The problem may occur if the files are hidden.

Check the following steps to display hidden files.

    (a) open the right clickink CD/DVD drive on the CD/DVD icon in Windows Explorer.

    (b) press the ALT key on the keyboard.

    (c) now in the menu bar, select Tools.

    (d) click on folder options.

    (e) select the second tab view

    (f) scroll and select Show hidden files, folders and drives.

    (g) click OK.

    Method 2:

Download and run a full scan using the Microsoft Safety Scanner.

    Microsoft safety scanner

    Note:

The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

  • Complete PC Backup and restore | Vista home Premium | upgrade

I want to create a full backup/restore of my system because 1 of my RAID volume has failed. (My computer is less than 6 months old). I was ignorant when I bought my new system Vista Home Premium won't let me create this type of backup.

In order to get this feature that I have to upgrade to Vista Ultimate for $220? This seems a little high for a function. Also if I update can I erase on my current hard drive when you install the upgraded operating system (i.e. I have to reinstall everything anyway since the full backup/restore will not work until the new operating system is installed)?

Does anyone know a way to install without having to reinstall the entire system again?

Hmm, I assume that you will not need to boot from the CD of Vista Business, but you have to start the DVD of Vista Business running Vista Home Edition.

However, I m not 100% sure, but I guess that it s the same procedure like an update of Win XP Home Pro.

    Best regards
