Full Version install Windows purchased 8.1 in a Microsoft on Vista PC store

I bought the full version 8.1 of Windows from the Microsoft Store to replace Vista Home Premium 32 bit on my PC

When I looked at the box that arrived, see sealed through cover, I noticed very little writing that has been distorted by the coating which I removed to read plastic was on the box.

To my horror, it says "Windows 8.1 is not deigned for installation on devices running XP or Vista!

Before ordering, I talked to the MS store to discuss why I couldn't find Windows 7 to use on my Vista Comp. He informed me only Windows 8.1 is available and offered to take my order over the phone, that I refused because I had another appointment and told her I will he order online, and no mention is made, it cannot install on my Vista machine!

The writing on the box told me to download 8.1 Upgrade Wizard at level I did, and who informed me that my PC does NOT support "Secure Boot", so I won't be able to use it on Windows 8!

So I have not inserted all disks, however, I made the backup I was told to do:

a. is there a WORKAROUND to allow me to install 8.1 concerning the non support of the situation to Secure Boot that I have will allow me to install correctly?

b. should I give it a try with the 8.1 installation disc anyway?

c. or get my money and keep Vista on my computer?

PES NOTE: my technical skills are limited, so if there is a WORKAROUND can explain you it in terms simple laymans.

Thank you

I contacted Ms. Installation Help guy this morning... He asked me to go into the information system, and he confirmed that Windows 8.1 Full Version is not compatible with my system informing me that Windows 7 will give full functionality with my current Vista PC set up.

I now appy for a refund.

Thanks for your help

    Here is the Vista Forums.

You have to boot from the Windows 7 disc to do a clean install.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Full version of Windows 8.1 - it will be available and how much it will cost it?

I recently bought an iMac, installed Parallels on it so I can run some Windows programs, only that I need to use.

I tried to migrate to Windows Vista from my PC via an external hard drive, but continue to get the error messages and since I really don't want to continue using Windows Vista, I would like to know if - when Windows 8.1 comes out - it will be available in full version (I don't want an OEM version that I heard that these versions are not guaranteed to run on Parallels).
I tried to buy a full version of Windows 7, but the price is quite high and it seems more sensible to go for the latest version of Windows, if I can. As others have commented it Windows 8 is not available in full version (unless you buy OEM). This leaves only really WIndows 8.1.
If Windows 8.1 will be available in full version, I would also like to know how much it will cost.
Thanks for any help that anyone can give.

    Hello

When Windows 8.1 is out, there will be major changes to the license.

The concept of an 'upgrade' version is removed. All versions of Windows 8.1 will be full versions. This version can be used to upgrade or installed on a blank disc with no earlier versions of Windows.

The retail price will be, Windows 8.1 $119.99 (US) and Windows Pro 8.1 will be available for $199.99 (US).

There is always a version System Builder (OEM) available from third party resellers.

  • Can I use the full Version of Windows 7 that I would use the edition update for Windows XP?

Can I use the full Version of Windows 7 to upgrade Windows XP with a custom installation, as I would with Windows 7 Upgrade Edition if I want? (If I decided that I would rather clean the entire hard drive so I can use the full Version of Windows 7 without the need of Windows XP or Vista)

    Hello

To upgrade your Windows XP computer to Windows 7, you will need to select custom during installation of Windows 7. A custom installation keeps your programs, files or settings. It is sometimes called a 'clean' for this reason installation.

  • Windows Vista does not start. I can just buy the upgrade to Windows 7 to fix this or do I have to purchase the full version of Windows 7?

    update helps... Difficulty helps lol

I have vista Home premium, but does not start it tells me to put my disk installation and repair process. can I buy windows7 upgrade or should I buy the full version, I'm not going to do...? I got my pc checked thourghly and everything is running perfect

Please use the Vista system repair and recovery forum to fix your departure upward.

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_vista-system?page=1&tab=all

Yes, as long as Vista is still installed on the hard drive you can use a copy of Windows 7 upgrade to upgrade your computer but you will need to boot the computer with the Windows 7 dvd and perform a custom installation.  Which will remove all your programs and data so there will be very practical backups.

The best option is to repair Vista first.

Before dismiss you the idea of buying a copy of the full license of Windows 7, remember that it would be transferable to a new computer much more easily that an upgrade copy is.

  • Computer does not start to install the full version of windows 7.

I have a desktop HP Pavilion elite M9000T computer.  He is currently under Vista 32 Bit.  I'm trying to install Windows 7 64 bit. full version.

(Go to boot at startup options does me not an option for the CD/DVD drive).

  • The full version of Windows 7 Professional.

I had W7 Home Premium on my PC which gave me the choice to use the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version.

Now, I bought the full version of W7 professional which comes with 2 discs. 64 bit & 32 bit. I loaded the 64-bit program that is good, but how do I get the 32 bit version to load as well, as I had on Home Premium?

I found a 32-bit file that contains very many files, but I don't know how or what to do to access this 32-bit folder.

Do I have to use the 32-bit disk?

I have Virgin Media security but it does not work on 64 bit, but on the Home Premium, which took the 64 & 32 I had no problem.

    Help please.

    Thank you

    Ali

No, the key that can be used with 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 is exclusively for use with the disc 1. You cannot use install both. 1 license, 1 installation, so choose wisely. If you want to install Windows 7 32 or 64 bit on another partition or another computer, you must purchase an additional license.

  • Confused over the upgrades and full versions for Windows 8 on a virtual machine

    Hello

I am wanting to legally install Windows 8 or 8.1 on a virtual computer. When I look at the Microsoft pages only, they seem to offer Windows 8 one update and I can't find a way to the purchase of a previous version either. Is anyone able to point me to an explanation in plain English what I should buy.

    Thanks for your help.

If you need to install Windows 8 in a virtual machine, you must purchase the full version of license OEM System Builder. If you need to install Windows 8.1 in a virtual machine, you can buy the license of retail sales (which is a full version) or OEM System Builder License.
