  • iMac restarts after the osx update

Hi my son has an iMac (mid-2011 Office), and there is an OSX update it will update, but then goes to a screen gray white and just sat there. I've left overnight and does not finish the installation and come back to life.

I tried to reinstall the operating system via CMD R and I tried first aid on the hard drive.

If I reinstall the iMac from the time machine backup recovers OK, but I can't get the updates of the OS on the machine.

So my question is that someone has an idea what could be the cause?

I contemplate wiping the HD and basically start again, but I have to reinstall MS Office and his Steam account

  • FF37.02 does not update available

When I check in the doalog on Firefox, it told me that I was using 37.02 FF and that there is no update available. But the Secunia PSI has been insisting on the fact that there is an update to FF38. So I searched and found there is a update available, I have now installed.
Why FF not told me there was an update when I checked? This has already happened several times and only resolved by a manual check by me.
    I am running Windows 8.1 64-bit.

    Mike,

Many of us test pre-release versions of Firefox - so 'human' test is involved. Basically, there are three stages of development of 6 weeks for each new version of Firefox. Every night (Central_ - then Aurora (aka developer) - then beta phase - before reaching the release. I think that Mozilla needs more users of beta tester. You're up to?
    https://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/channel/

The issue that caused the closure of Firefox 38.0 and brought us to 38.0.1 - https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/38.0.1/releasenotes/ - one of the three subjects lacking 38.0.
"Systems with NVidia Optimus graphics cards first generation may crash at startup"-from what I've read in the case of dyslexia with a name of the Nvidia DLL, it was spelled wrong and none of the beta-testers caught or reported it. Fortunately, Mozilla had strangled Firefox 38.0 to 25% on the first days after liberation (a common practice) and turn it off when they realized that there is a problem.

Personally, I ran nightly versions as my main browser of 2004 thru 2010, bug report I found them and confirming bugs when the bug has already been reported, but not yet confirmed. I took a 'hiatus' of tests like Firefox 4 via Firefox 10 - too many changes that I didn't like. I used Opera until they went to WebKit, as well as a few different browsers based on Gecko which were built from code in Firefox, as well as the use of Firefox 3.6.28 until long after the end of support.
With Firefox 10 I entered 'testing' - three pre-release Beta, Aurora and nightly until Firefox 29 hit each of the 4 steps. My old PC just couldn't handle the Australis versions, in addition to my disliking the new user interface; so, I stuck with Firefox 28 until last month when I built a new PC.

  • I have version 3.6.23 on a desktip PC. When I "check for updates", I get a message that there are no updates available. What version should I do and how do I get it?

I tried to use a tool of shmetsy.com for Etsy. I couldn't use it because of my version of Firefox - 3.6.23
I went 'On Mozilla Firefox' to check the updates and got the message "there is no update available"

I don't know what versions of Firefox work with Shmetsy. They have a page system requirements? It is not in the very short FAQ...

You have later in the line of 3.6.

If you want Firefox 7, go to http://www.mozilla.org/firefox to get the installation program.

Normally, the major updates go without a hitch, but just in case, I recommend to backup your Firefox settings to cover you in the rare case that something is not going. See your backup information. (You can copy your profile folder Firefox together somewhere outside the Mozilla folder).

  • OSX Update 10.11.3 iMacs causes gray screen of death Mid 2011

    Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forums of apple, so I don't know exactly if it was to go to the right place. This isn't any question that it's a PUBLIC service announcement.

Basically, a summary of my post is that OSX update 10.11.3 causes both 27 "& 21.5" mid 2011 iMacs is not start properly. After the update installs and the iMac restarts, the startup sequence seems fine, showing the Apple logo, then the progress bar. However, when you expect your login screen to appear, instead you are greeted with a dark gray screen and movable mouse... and he the system is still a little sensitive. If you press the keys on the keyboard you hear the sound of "bum" as if you had to press a key when you weren't supposed to, and if you press the power button (do not want) the system will switch to standby (and wakes up if you press it again). So this isn't really frozen, it's just nice... it.

Puzzled, I went to Google, hoping to find someone with a similar problem. I have not found much. I found some people with similar problems (gray screen is a bit more general), but I have found others with 27 "mid 2011 iMacs have this problem (links below :))

Cannot install the update of El Capitan 10.11.3 (Stuck in gray screen)

iMac mid 2011, gray screen of death!

gray screen with the pointer to the login screen

What I read, some iMacs have been recalled for the failures of graphics card, and that's what some people have responded to in the positions as a possible cause. (This is also what comes mainly from back when you search for "27" iMac screen gray) But this doesn't seem to be the issue here. The above posts are fairly recent and seem to coincide with the update 10.11.3 put in place, and they are the same symptoms that I have experience, but with no working solution.

Once I have restore my backup time machine last before updating 10.11.3 is installed, the system works perfectly. Unfortunately, if you have not a backup time machine to restore, it seems that reinstall OS x is your only solution (until you reinstall the update)

I'm not an expert of OSX, but I tried everything under the Sun to try to get the system to boot properly again, like resetting the PRAM & SMC , single-user mode, safe mode, none of this works. The system does not just start.

I don't know if this has affected everyone with mid 2011 iMacs, but I just thought I'd let people with iMacs 2011 who are having problems with this update that you are not alone, and I hope that someone at apple can be seen. If you have an iMac 2011 that has not been updated to 10.11.3 again, I will not do.

    Thank you

It is not material, it's software.

My keyboard came with my Imac aluminum had a problem that I thought was material, but order the update of the post 10.11.2 v works again.

Simply click near the center of the screen when it is grey and type your password.

  • I have Version 5.1.10 (6534.59.10 Safari on my macbook pro and I want to upgrade.) How to make to make it so my computer displays no update available?

I have Version 5.1.10 (6534.59.10) of safari on my macbook pro and I want to update. How to make to make it so my computer displays no update available?

Safari is a part of Mac OS X, and the only way to obtain a more recent version is upgraded to El Capitan.

Lion and Mountain Lion can be bought at the Apple Store but 10.11.2 is a free update.

  • Vista SP2 32-bit, Windows Update continues to install KB979683 and then re-list as a new "important update available"

Automatic updates of Windows installs KB979683, and then in the next update checking, it is listed under "important update available". He repeated every day for three weeks.

Under 'View Update History', he shows again and again KB979683 installation successfully.

Under 'updates installed, he said, "no update is installed on this computer". So I can't download it manually on my desktop, uninstall the update, restart in safe mode and reinstall manually. Also, when I tried to install manually in safe mode without deleting the file, I received the error 0X8007043c.

I tried stopping the windows update service, and then delete all files in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution > DataSstore and C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution > download, then by restarting the service, but it did not help.

I've updated and run Malwarbytes Anti-Malware 1.46 and AVG 9.0.829, but found no threat.

I use windows, as well as automatic daily scans with AVG firewall (manual scans with Malwarebytes: daily).

I don't know if it's important, but I'm under IE8, version 8.0.6001.18882, 256 bit zero versions updates. I have seen a recent update was available for IE8 (KB982381) but when you try to run manually, he said that the update does not apply to my system.

    Help, please!

    Thank you, Todd.
