Games back on the desktop often, even in AFK

I run windows Vista on a computer that is around the age of 6 months and get remaining in any game.  I returned to the Office about once every half hour and this happens even when I am not a button or the computer and have nothing else than startup running programs.  It returns just to the office without programs, warnings, start bar or otherwise popping up.  It happened for about a month now and I simply can't understand it.  Tempting for support by microsoft itself, it keeps it sends me errors to product ID and I don't know why so I thought I would try here instead.  Please let me know if you have any ideas.

I use a laptop HP H250 running Windows 8.0. Since yesterday whenever I search something on the machine it gives a blank screen and then start back on the desktop. An analysis of the system and the registry has verified. Can anyone help?

    Hi Courtney,

This issue may have caused due to some missing or corrupted files in the computer. I would like to know some information about this problem so that we can help you further.

    1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

    2. do you get any error code or error message while starting?

    3. are you referring to the Virus scan by "system scan"?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it works for you.

    Method 1:

Run the troubleshooter of System Maintenance and check if it helps. This troubleshooting will help you find and fix common system issues on your computer.

Follow the steps to run the Troubleshooter:

    (a) press Windows + Q together get the search option.
    (b) the type of Troubleshooting on the search option, and then select Troubleshooting.
    (c) click show all on the left side panel.
    (d) click on The Maintenance of the system and follow the instructions to run the troubleshooter.

    Method 2:

Put the computer in a clean boot state, and check if the problem persists. This process will help you determine which third party/PPP program is causing this problem.

I used to play the original game on my computer every day, I even had an icon dedicated to it on the right side with all the other icons on the blank screen, it turns out that since I am disconnected from a router to another router I have more icon of the familia which shows a blue chip Checkers game & where the icon used to be there is an icon that looks like a miniature 'windows' (with the small blue border along the top from left to right), the same size as the other icons, and instead of internet checkers it says: "chkrz.ex" I do not know, but it is a similar term, but he wwas exactly & it's gone now.  How can I get it back to my windows xp computer?

    Hi EddieQuing,

It would be possible that the shortcut for the game has been corrupted.

Check if the game is available in "all programs". If so, create a new shortcut.
    a. click Start. Click "all programs."
    b. click on games. Highlight on draughts of the Internet and click on send to and choose Destop (shortcut).

    Check if that helps.

If that's not enough, and if the game is not available at this location, follow these steps to see if the game has been turned off and activate the same.

    a. click the Start button, click Control Panel, click on Add / Remove Programsand then click Add or remove Windows components in the left pane.
    b. now in the Windows Components Wizard select the check box for Accessories and utilities-> click Details-> Select the CheckBox games and double click on it and in the list of games that appears, check the box for 'online games', click OK.
    c. click OK twice.
    d. restart the computer now and check.

Keep me updated on the status of the issue.

  • brief popup BACK on the desktop with the apparent error message

This morning I started getting very brief DOS window popups that appear to contain an error message in the sense of "system error - cannot find the file name."  I can't really say because the popup flashes on the screen too fast.  The problem started shortly after my wife connected and immediately after it IE8, then continued for a few minutes before stopping.  After awhile, he reappeared and now appears irregularly intermittent.

I checked my anti-virus (Norton corporate) because I thought it could have been a problem with the boot scan, then ran Malwarebytes' anti-malware and Registry Booster from UniBlue.  Nothing.  I tried to start Windows diagnostics.  Nothing.

The PC seems to work normally otherwise.  The addition of the only software was a week ago (TurboTax).  Any ideas or suggestions?

  • None of the "tiles" in my Windows 8 start menu work, they maximize a fashion icon full screen or just stop back on the desktop

    Helllo all,.

Last night I upgraded to Windows 7 to Windows 8, everything seams to be fine work (faster, more fluid, etc.), but none of the tiles work in the start menu of Windows Store, that is to say, weather, maps, etc. When I click on "all apps" it will load installed programs however.

    My account is an administrator, I have switched between what it is a "local" and linked to my account 'live' account and neither worked, here are the specs of the system;

    Intel i5 processor

    6 GB OF RAM

Drive HARD 512 (not an SSD)

NVIDIA 640 M GPU (2 GB RAM) - it's currently "always you" rather than move to the Intel HD 4000 (I tried two cards, or worked).

    Thanks for the help.

    Kind regards

I was able to diagnose the problem with agent suspicious actions of Avast turning just stuff the individual parameters, one by one.  After I found the root of my problem was Avast I checked to see if there was an upgrade.  There was.

I updated Avast and the problem behavior shield now seems fixed.  In other words, I don't have to turn off the setting that I listed above for the tiles to work.  So I recommend to people is to update Avast and see if it solves your problem.  If this isn't the case, then turn off the settings that I mentioned, or disable Avast altogether.

I sincerely hope one person MS is reading this thread and can transmit this information to their support people.  Avast is one of the most downloaded programs to Vista & 7; There is sure to be thousands of people with the same problem.

Great, you're saving just a lot of time and grief... Avast was my problem too.

    Thank you!

original title: what happens if I can't start?

How to get back on the desktop? and when I push the Start button, that it doesn't show up?

Press the [F8] key function 8 on your keyboard which will launch the menu Advanced Boot Options. You will see a new option "Repair your computer", select this option and press 'Enter' on your keyboard.

If the problem persists, try to start safe mode, start your PC, just before the system loads the Windows operating system. Press the [F8] key function 8 on your keyboard which will launch the menu Advanced Boot Options. Select Safe Mode.

    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r

    Also:

Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

  • THE DESKTOP ICONS WON'T STAY WHERE I PUT THEM

I tried to combine some icons on my desktop in the way that suits me, but I often find that they won't stay where I put them.

Sometimes they simply will not sit when I try to put them (especially near the perimeter) and at other times, after that I did something else, when I go back on the desktop what they moved.

    Thanks for that.

    That was the problem.

When I opened the menu as you have suggested, "align icons on the grid" has been selected.

When I removed the tick that solved the problem.
