Games for Windows 7 and other things

Three questions. I am currently using windows 7 rc and I tried to install a game that has been relased for vista only.  When the final version comes out I will be able to install on windows 7 or should I set up my secondary hard drive with my vista just to be able to play these games? Second element is I have a media player Extender hooked into my TV and with the CR I can't play my movies of the comp at the tv will this problem be resolved?  And finally I run a proccessor QuadCore with technically five gigabytes of ram, four on the motherboard and the other on my video card and Vista, my processor speed was a 5.9, but for some reason any Windows 7, it shows as a 4.4 whats the agreement on that?  other then that like the look and have had no problems with it again and actually think go against my own style and ordering a first edition software which is something I never really have.

You should not have problems during installation and running the game on Windows 7.  As for other concerns you have, who should be resolved in the finished product and if Intel ever get the of it act together and starts to communicate with the developers of software and hardware.

I have also included a statement from one of my previous posts just for those who may be reading and the question.

Windows 7 will the have same backwards compatibility with programs that Vista has.  Which means that if the program or game is old (XP before or at the beginning) the chances are that it will not work.
Windows 7 includes some versions of virtual XP which will allow you to run old XP programs in a virtual XP machine.
If you include Virtual XP, Windows 7 will be able to run all XP software without problem.  Don't forget that you will need to have the right hardware to use virtual machines such as Virtual XP very well.

see you soon
I have a simple philosophy: just assume everyone is a piece of _ and then be pleasantly surprised if you find someone who is not.

  • Games for Windows Live and GTA Episodes from Liberty City

I haven't played this game for a while and decided to give it another turn. While I can select "play offline" and launch the game, I can't save any progress unless I connect to my Windows Live account.

Now I can log on as Google Chrome or Explorer Windows without any problems (mind you that it seems to have changed this format to Xbox Live) that since I linked my account 'Live' to my Rockstar games account 'Social Club '.

When I start the game in order to save any course or load a saved game, I need to access my Windows Live account, but he repeats to me than the account log-in / password is incorrect, even when I run it under Chrome at the same time on my second monitor

I read that Microsoft has completed Windows Live and if they have KILLED MY GAME and cost me money because the game is no longer needed. What is the point of having a game you can't save any progress in and start all over again from the beginning, whenever you try to play?

My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64

Anyone know how to get around this problem

    See you soon

    ColBoy

I've seen a lot of discussion over the years about various games with GFWL and being not able to save unless it's connected, but I've never had this problem (except for "ghost" in DIRT 3 cars).
Fortunately I did not have a problem with - "account log-in / password is incorrect," -be

(Finally, no, since I started to avoid going to the line, or GFWL was updated).

With GTA4 and EFLC, I have always used the "xliveless" (replaces the xlive.dll in the Games folder), which is on various modding sites, but you can not play online when using the xliveless fix.

I don't really remember if this was necessary in order to save this game when it is offline. I just wanted to avoid GFWL right from the start, because he was always wrong. With this fix, you do not even a GFWL screen.

It is always say Social Club to play if offline, but I don't bother typing in any "references."

(I've just loaded EFLC and recorded in an empty slot to check a few minutes ago).

'I read that Microsoft has completed Windows Live'

It was supposed to be the case, but I think it's always hanging over our heads.
-J' loaded the bats-AC last week and managed to connect to GFWL offline.

GFWL wonder up-to-date, but I decline the update and it then disconnects online me anyway.

The game did record the next control point.

Some games have been "worn" more steam to become free GFWL. DIRT 3 is the last one you can "Add" your Steam account (or buy the 'new' Steam version w/o GFWL).

It may be useful to check Steam to see if you can "add" the game to your Steam account.

-C' is the first I've heard of linking GFWL Social Club.

Is the link between the GFWL to Social Club supposed to be also a way around the GFWL thus?

I guess it would be best if wanting to play online (if it can be done via Steam).

  • Cannot install ANY video game on Windows 7 (and other problems) _

No more than 5 MINUTES after starting my new desktop computer the first time, I started having these problems:

    (1) when I try to install a game, I get an error message that says "cannot continue the installation. SAMPLE.exe file missing. "Soon after, a message in the lower right corner will slide upward, saying 'virus Trojan in SAMPLE.exe. The file has been quarantined. When I disable the antivirus software, I can install the game but I can't run it. It hangs after 5 minutes, and then a box pop up appears and says "cannot find the file SAMPLE.exe.

All the video games I've tried to install are compatible with windows 7.

    (2) when I try to make changes to programs or certain parameters, a box pop up appears and says "You must be logged in as Administrator", when I am logged on as administrator.

    (3) Windows 7 will reorganize randomly my desktop icons.

    (4) Windows Explorer starts that it self.

    (5) sometimes programs will not download to the location I specified. He decided to put it somewhere else.

    panicballoon,
I agree with KSib, that having these types of problems right out of the box is ridiculous.  I recommend you contact the PC manufacturer for warranty support to get this corrected. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

    Thank U.

    Hi D33Viilz,

I found a post on the Games for Windows Live site that has addressed your question.  Here are the steps and the link to the original post:

If you're running Vista, you can not uninstall all .NET Framework before 3.0.

If you haven't already, you will need to download 3.5 SP 1 here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=AB99342F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en

If you are running Windows 7, it should have the most recent of the .NET Framework.

Also, I would say that you are using the tool Mod proposed (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301) to completely remove Microsoft Games for Windows LIVE and LIVE Redistributable.

When you have finished using the cleanup utility, check that it has been removed through programs and features.

Restart your PC, and then re-download the newest Client of Games for Windows LIVE here: go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9640147

  • Games for Windows Live does not open

Hello. I had the Client Games for Windows LIVE and the market installed on my PC for some time now (several years). I played many games, such as Halo 2, Grand Theft Auto IV, Batman: Arkham City, etc., which require this piece of shit software. However, recently, I've been making mistakes where I can't run Arkham City in what appears to be an error related to the GFWL client. Of course, when I tried to open market Games for Windows LIVE, I see the splash screen, but after a few seconds it disappears and the program does not start. I tried to reinstall both on the market and the client, each instance of the .NET Framework and Bing Bar, but also reset Internet Explorer and run CCleaner registry cleaning, all to nothing is helping. I paid for all of these games and I'm not going to sit idly by because of a strange problem with a piece - of-* DRM software. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I thought it would be more simple, but apparently, these errors can be caused by multiple scenarios
Also, you can check your crash logs in %localappdata%\Microsoft\GFWLive\ I think to see if they show you something different from the error you get
