Halo 2 for Windows Vista does not work on windows 7 32-bit computer
Recently I have windows 7 installed on my computer and I installed Halo 2 for Windows Vista on this subject. I start the game, but before that I get a lot, it stops and I get a box that says Halo 2 has stopped playing for some reason any. He is looking for a solution and comes up saying that it does not find a waiting for Microsoft to find a. It happens the same thing every time.
It seems that everything I needed an update. I went and did the updates and then began the game as administrator and it works fine now. I appreciate the help, though, and I don't know that your tips will help someone else as well. Thank you. PS My game doesn't have the compatibility mode on it. Everything else is good. What is happening with this?
Thank you all. Bubba

W7 Upgrade Advisor said it would work with the exception of Windows Aero. When the games to try to come with W7 get window 'game running in software rendering... '. Hardware acceleration disabled or not supported by the video card driver"games will not work. A check says last drivers are installed. Tried to reinstall WXP in separeat partition to see if would work like that but will not because most recent W7.
I suggest that you use XP personally gave a computer which is so old.
If you have a computer with XP (3 + years) and have not changed at least two of these things (CPU, RAM, video card), you should probably stick with XP. Not worth the headache of praying that things work with a material more old which probably is no longer supported on the new OS.
Usually, people that the computer was shipped with Vista 1, 2 or less it several years ago can be upgraded to 7 without too much trouble if it was a mid-range machine. In addition, it seems that Windows is not recognizing your graphics card. It looks like (http://www99.shopping.com/xPO-Hewlett-Packard-SR1020NX-CEL2-8-512-80-COM-XPH) you have an Intel Extreme graphics card. However, nothing about it is extreme. Since it is an extreme Intel card I guess Windows Update should find the drivers for you, but it is not then maybe the video card is just too outdated for 7? I'm not sure.
Moreover, I wouldn't worry much about the lack of updates for XP right now. If ever you encounter more money then get the new computer with 7 on it, but at this time I suggest you stay on XP if your hardware and software actually works and that is more important than a few features of 7.

Hello
I did a windows vista upward from some directories of laptop for my ReadyNas Storeage via the network. The backup is is about 8 times before the hard drive on the laptop crashed. We are unable to recover the HARD disk for thought I would recover from the laptop.

I use Windows Restore - Advanced Restore to try to recover from the previous backup. After some fiddling, I am able to see that the program of restoring Windows backup sets. I'm trying to restore all files to their original location. The restoration done some preparatory work and then get the error message: Restore did not complete successfully. Error code: 0x8100001A
Here is what I tried:
(1) find the original Mediaid.bin file and copy it to the root.
(2) run the following process to rebuild the mediaid. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itprovistaapps/thread/56f5ed9b-8722-4fa8-b1e9-9c17d7132feb.
(3) have successfully used windows Explorer to extract a single file. (backup stuff windows are stored in zip files). Problem, this only works for files below a certain size because I don't know how to merge files voluminous back.
(4) copied the backup set off the ReadyNas to a USB to load from there. It worked only when the USB, I have shared on the network.
(5) have shot a question at JustAnswers, but they have not as well.

Windows Vista does not work for all programs requiring administrator rights
I have Windows Vista Business SP1 on a Dell XPS laptop. He worked from 3-4 years. It seems that after a recent update (in the last week), I rebooted the laptop and after that Vista can not run programs that require administrator privileges. This includes most of the items in the Panel, the observer of events, computer management, elevated command prompt and so on.
After logging in, I get a notification of the task bar that says "Windows cannot connect to the customer service group policy."
When I try to any program requiring administrative privileges (for example, msconfig), I get an error "Windows cannot find C:\Windows\system32\msconfig.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again"
I restored the system (from safe mode) for a day where it seems to be ok, but the problem remains.
The sound in the system tray icon is a trademark of the Red Cross on it, but sounds work ok.
Analyses of virus through McAfee (all installed updates and latest virus definitions) showed no signs of the virus.
As already mentioned in the original post, System Restore does not resolve the problem. I got to the new vista installation to fix the problem. Some windows updates and reboot after applying the update seems to be the cause.

Windows Vista does not work with modem wireless broadband
I saw no answer to this problem. Can anyone help?
Windows Vista on my DELL laptop at home does not work with my new NETGEAR modem wireless broadband 3 G. The modem appears in the list of networks, I just errors like: unable to connect, cannot diagnose,... Both devices work perfectly well together when connected by cable but not wireless. Interestingly, my laptop work, also a DELL but runing Windows XP, works very well with the NETGEAR modem.
Summary:
Vista / Netgear wired - work
Vista / Netgear wireless - does not work
XP / Netgear wireless - workI went through the NETGEAR troubleshooting guide, doing everything from changing the types of security to manually enter the MAC address of the laptop. I ran to the ground with the NETGEAR support engineers, and they said check with Microsoft. I am convinced that it has something to do with Vista. Any ideas?
