Generic dashboard in VCOPS 5.7.1

Hi all

I have a little problem to set up a Generic Dashboard on vCOPS 5.7 I would like to be able to see the metrics loan % and loan (ms) for a generic VM. In essence, after selecting any un Virtual MACHINE another widget, I should be able to see the corresponding values in my generic Dashboard.

Unfortunately, however, in addition to messages Type "please select valid ranges" in the configuration of this widget, sometimes come back I find that the two selected measures relate to a specific VM and not in general.

I would like to avoid having to use in the XML file to do this operation. Can someone explain How do I implemented, perhaps with a few simple screenshots?

THX!

It's impossible. You configure the widget to be self-sufficient providing - select resources, metric and affecting the limits - which makes a non widged. If you want it to be interactive, you will need create an XML file. On the user interface, go to this folder: "/ usr/lib/vmware-vcops/tomcat-company/webapps/vcops-custom/WEB-INF/classes/resources/reskndmetrics. Create a new XML file, make sure that the property has the value admin:admin and rw - r - r--(chmod 644) for this file.

The contents of this file should be something like:

You will need to change your limits a little to your liking. Also, you need a selector resources and put in place the widget interactive.

  • How to configure the generic Dashboard widget to interact with the other widgets 5.6?

VCops 5.6 I can see that the generic dashboard can act as a receiver widget.   However, I can't figure out how to put in place to receive data and at the height of the selected metric.  For example, I would like to have 3 parameters of cluster displays the dashboard then choose a cluster to the health of the company and have it change the settings to use the selected cluster.  I can't choose a metric of cluster without choosing a specific cluster.

    Thank you

Generic interaction Widget Scoreboard is intended by using the configuration of "Mode of Interaction of reference". In other cases, it is impossible to see the results of interaction for the widget.

Configuration interaction "Res. Interaction Mode' only works for the predefined settings (predefined in the XML file). Also, this resource should be provided during interaction (to make a widget to generic dashboard). User can set the interested metric, which will appear on the dashboard widget after the interaction of the resource.

Please find below the steps to configure and set of interesting measures via XML file and allow interaction for them, in generic Scoreboard widget:

    (1) edit the file 'sampleScoreboard.xml' in: / usr/lib/vmware-vcops/tomcat-enterprise/webapps/vcops-custom/WEB-INF/classes/resources/reskndmetrics

    (2) configure the XML file by your best adapter type, type of resource, and metric, beaches of colour/threshold for each attribute/metric. And to see that only your metric set register after the interaction resources widget generic Scoreboard (resource).

    (3) ' provider' on OFF display of the widget editing mode.

    (4) select the interaction of your generic Scoreboard widget provide.

After such a configuration, you can make interaction by resource to generic Scoreboard widget.

    hope this helps

  • How to set up the generic dashboard for the specified virtual machines

I have two question about "generic dashboard":

    1. I use the tag to classify certain virtual machines by role QA, DEV or PRD. If I select "Kind of resources", and then select all VM under a label, window "metrics selector" will be watch only "vCenter generated Operation Manager", it does not show metric VM. How can I see it?

    2. If I select the 'Resources' mode, then I'll be able to see the VM metrics on the window "metrics selector", but I must key in each VM name "Label to the area", it takes a lot of time if I have a lot of VM, is there no matter what symbol I can use to match this field with name column "resource"?

Mode 'Resources like' or 'Resource', both ok for me, I want to just install a widget to display using the specified CPU VM real fast.

    Any information is appreciated!

You will see that vC generated Ops metric because you are looking at the tag, which is a resourcekind. This switch of resources is "not" a filter label, these are the actual resources. If you want to see all the virtual machines, select the resourcekind 'virtual machine '.

Generic dashboard is rarely used to show - all - kinds of resources, it is generally used for static selection for specific purposes. If you want to display all types of a resource type and apply a tag filter, you can select a different widget to display this information.

There is no symbols that can act as wildcards, as you suggest. When you are 'kind of resources' mode, you need not fill out a label for the box.

  • Need help to create a dashboard to count altogether.

I have a dashboard that shows the top of page 20 more high VM that are about to run out of disk space.  Is there a way to create an another dashboard that would give a county that just to display a number?  For example, the great metric can be something as something more than 90% of this number.  The dashboard would then show a number as 15 VM is over 90%.  How do I create a total number or is it still possible in vCenter Ops?  Thank you

    Hello

hope you can work with my dashboard.

Generic dashboard has been configured only with a couple of virtual machines. Just one example of the possibilities for you.

I think that a ' Top-N-analysis ' Widget will help you more than a "card of the Moor!" There are only the TOP 20 VM use the data store humor.

This is the configuration for this widget:

hope that s what you need.

  • Creating Applications in vCOPS a UI custom

    Hello

I'll have a go at creating applications and dashboards customized vCOPS a custom user interface.
I just created an application and when I want to add VM for the layers I actually get a lot of instances of the virtual machine.

Under the list, it shows the name of the virtual machine and type of resource and then 3 identifiers. Identifier of 1 and 3 are identical.
2 identifier differs for each instance (e.g. vm-12345)
My question is what entry choose and why is there so much for some VM, but not others?
I'm not sure, but I wonder if it has something to do with being protected by SRM.

Whichever one I get I get no data.

    Hope that make sense

Hi AllBlack, the response of the mlebied is correct - you will see multiple instances of the MV if the virtual machine has been protected by MRS or basically no reason to ensure that the VM to have a new ME.

However, it is easy to choose the virtual machine that is the current 'live' VM by selecting the entity VM status > lit

  • That means 'comments file System (%) '. » ?

There is a metric 'comments file System (%) '. "under file system of comments when I select several virtual machines on generic dashboard widget.

The metric value is is not exactly free space or space of the fs mount used on a Linux VM.

    Someone knows:

    1. What is the average metric?

2 another message mentioned that the metric cannot display the correct value for NFS or Linux fs, is set on VMware vCenter Operations Manager 5.7.0 build 1073531?

System (%) file of comments is the % of used disk space. It is generally accurate to mounts and partitions, he sees not, but it is limited to the information provided by the virtual machine tools. This means that the VM tools must run, point NTF file media related and Linux not all mount points report. That this measure is not broken (to my knowledge), there is no "fix" in the current version. If there is a problem with the metric/accuracy of the source, would it be a problem for vCenter/vSphere and not a vC one - vC Ops Ops simply collects the data.

  • CPU Ready (ms) hidden metrics

    Hi all

I noticed a strange problem. Some Machines virtual have the metric Use CPU -> loan (ms) and others do not. Someone Explain to me why he would know? I created a generic Dashboard to show this value for each VM and on some of them, instead of a numberit turns out that a blue "?" .

    Thank you

    Matrix

vC Ops cannot collect data only if it is provided by vCenter. Open vCenter and go Performance > Advanced area, then see if the CPU Ready (ms) value contains data for virtual machines in question. If specific measures are not there, the vSphere hosts are not helped for some reason any (host host or communication question usually version). If they are, then vC Ops is not their collection and I would say check your packages attribute + vC Ops assignment is configured to collect.

If I install the chargeback and incorporate it into the vCops, then I might have vCops use data cost of personalized dashboards?  Or Chargeback only capture data from vCops (one way)?

    Thank you

It's a way.  I guess you can use the generic SQL adapter to do something like you suggest, but it's strictly personal work.

  • vCOps 5.6 crashes after an extended period of time using Enterprise Dashboard

So, I had this problem since vCOps 5.0, every update, I hope it is fixed but is not. I also had a nice SR since July, and while a lot of troubleshooting has been done, we are still no where near of a solution.

Looks after that leaving a dashboard customized view of skittles, six metric charts, heatmap and a metric sparklines for a long period of time the CPU usage will gradually pull 100% usage after a few hours.

We tried to add additional CPU, memory for two virtual machines. Seems to help but the end result is an accident of the dashboard.

    Anyone seen this before?

  • vCops default vs. Custom UI details permissions dashboard

I just want to clarify that:

    • vCops default dashboard permissions are defined in vCenter (no matter if you use the vCops or vCops browser plugin) (no need to LDAP Setup for vCenter uses permanent AD by default)
    • vCops custom UI permissions are defined in a separate DB which may be related to LDAP.
    • No authorization is shared between two dashboards

    Is this correct?

    Thank you

    -MattG

    Hello Matt,

There are prmisssions shared between both the dashboards that are administrator accounts that have been implemented in the initial instalation of the Ops vC. Ohter than that users can use their ID to connect with bothe Standard and tables of edge custom but we (Admins) need to grant access to vcenter for standard dashboard and dashboard custom w ehave to use the LDAP configuration.

    Thank you
