  I think it s ok when you take a P100/P200 because the debian system (for example) has really good support for generic hardware. Unfortunately the toshiba doesn't support linux (neither officially nor unofficially) since they don't ship their platforms with linux.
  I think we have to wait a while because they will ship some models with linux and provide official support.

  So far, we are ourselves. I have a Tecra 9100 with ubuntu "feisty fawn" and it works fine, so I intend to put an OS based on debian on my A100 to see how it works.

  The best method would be to install the system, and then compile the kernel on your needs, so most of the material can be perfectly configured on this path.

  Given that the material is OK and most of the works of things without problems, I would choose a P200...

• No Notification sound when the connection/disconnection of USB device

  I am running Windows 7 on a separate partition on a 2011 MacBook Pro (installed via Boot Camp).

  This laptop has two USB ports on the left side.

  If I connect/disconnect a USB device to the port more back, I get the notification sound as usual.

  However, if I log out these same devices to the port further there is no notification even if the devices are recognized & seem to work fine.

  Can anyone tell how to enable notification of this port please?

  As mentioned be notified when you use one of the ports USB, but not the other.

  I posted this in an Apple forum & other users of this machine & installation are reporting the issue even if it seems to be a generic hardware problem & not just something on my own system.

  I have a problem with a laptop HP 630 of all nine (clearance stock) (LV425PA #ABG): this is not to recognize a generic USB MIDI device (keyboard).   After much effort, I have determined that it is a subtle hardware problem. The MIDI keyboard USB works fine on two other computers, but not the 630 HP. Similarly, several other USB MIDI devices have worked without difficulty on the 630 HP. Only the specific combination of HP 630 and the particular MIDI keyboard fails. It turns out, however, that they work if connected with a USB cable that is shorter than the one supplied with the keyboard. It is only the combination of three-way MIDI keyboard, cable USB and HP 630 that fails. Change any part and everything works.

  Obviously, this sensitivity to the length of the cable means that something is a little marginal on the hardware, but the fault seems to be shared between the two HP 630 and the MIDI keyboard, since they both work when paired with anything else on the same cable. I'll have to wait and see if there are other problems in the normal conditions of use.
