Geez, you have to go to 10 different things even get here! I'm having a problem with getting a small version of firefox every time I open a new window but it is empty, it looks like your web page, I have to close it, to look at my site that I opened. I did a virus scan and there is nothing. I have windows and firefox is my homepage, btw when I go to IE I don't have this problem, seems like when firefox installs a new version of that something is happening.

Try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

  • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe or make changes.

  • "I update firefox from 7 to 8 and now when I run firefox every time it opens the page 'do start with firefox', in options I select the option ' display a blank page" How can I solve this problem?

I update firefox from version 7 to version 8, now when I run firefox every time it itself open the Web "to start with firefox", in firefox options I select the "show a blank page" but his does not work. I use firefox on windows XP - SP2.

Try to restart Firefox, the time of a page (s) after the beginning of a new version should disappear. In fact this last time with 8.0 they did not come to the top for me.

If it works then raise Subject: config and insert the url of the page into the filter. Right-click on anything that appears and use "Reset".

  • I want to open a new tab, but keep the cursor in the adressbar. Right not every time I open a new tab, I come to a page with google search and the firefox logo.

Everytime I open a new tab, I'm greeted by this page

    http://blog.Mozilla.org/UX/files/2012/05/Firefox-beta-13-redesigned-About_Home-Page1.PNG?128c42

Is a small problem for me, because when I want the cursor at the beginning in the adressbar. So, if for example, I opened a new page, I type in imdb.com I receive directly on imdb.

Today, however, with the Home tab firefox screen. I have to do a google search for imdb.

A small problem perhaps, but enough to be annoying.

Is there a way to move the settings or something similar, and keep the cursor in the address bar after you open a new tab?

    Hello

If you only want the new tabs do not have home page, you can change it by going in your Subject: config page and replacing "browser.newtab.url" Subject: vacuum. For me at least, if I open a new tab on a white page, the cursor remains the address bar.

In order to change your Firefox Configuration please follow the following steps:

    1. In the address bar, type Subject: config

and press enter. The subject: config "this might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.

    1. Click on I'll be careful, I promise! to keep the comments: config page.

If you also want to change your home page to a blank page, you can do so in virtue:

    • (on Windows) Tools > Options > general, or
    • Menu

      > Options (preferences on Mac and Linux) > general

Then change the dropdown to "when Firefox starts:"so that it is set to 'Show a blank page'.»

Note that you can continue to do research on the awesome bar and search bar where you want to do a Google search.

  • Why suddenly I "You've opened a new tab" on the page every time I open a new tab?

All of a sudden a few days, instead of a blank page when I open a new tab, Foxfire began to display a whole thing under the heading "you've opened a new tab". I am quite aware that I opened a new tab. I purposely, and I do it all the time. There is a checkbox "don't show me this page again" to check, but I already checked it several times and it doesn't change anything. Why this message start showing and, more importantly, how can I get to stop?

Try to start Firefox in safe mode. This mode disables all extensions, customizations, hardware acceleration, etc., temporarily for the diagnosis and troubleshooting. If Firefox works find in safemode, then it's probably a problem with the add-on. Restart Firefox in normal mode, and then type "subject: addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions, restart Firefox between each one, until you find the troublemaker. Once you do, you can turn off this add-on and report the problem to the developer of this - on Add.

A few other basic problems you can try things is the following:
Run all Windows updates, install all required service packs, etc.

Updating your graphics driver (Firefox uses the graphics card for rendering and an outdated graphics card driver can cause problems. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers.

Update all of your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/.

Download and install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This check allows that there is no virus on your computer, causing problems. You can uninstall this program after having cleaned the infections.

If none of these works, please see Preferences are not saved, that includes a few steps, you can take which should solve the problem.

In addition, you should start getting ready to upgrade to Firefox 11. Firefox 3.6 support will be removed in a few weeks, which means he will receive more updates of stability or security. 11 Firefox is up to 7 times faster than 3.6, has many new features and improvements, as well as support for new web standards. http://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/features/ and Update Firefox have more information.

Everytime I open FF I get the start page and it asks if I want to restore my previous sessions - it's really annoying me. Your latest saved my sessions and they open automatically when I started FF - why does not it now?

To always open the last set of tabs do as follows:

    2. Go to the general Panel
    3. Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "show my windows and tabs from last time '.

  • Windows Update - it gets to the final stage of the update every time it goes to "Starting Windows" and then it all comes back to the update

Original title: Windows Update keeps reseting

My computer had a mandatory update that began when turned on. Happens to the last step of the update every time, it goes to the "starting Windows" and then it all comes back to the update. Turn on the computer and then next turn has not changed anything either, and I can't after that.

  • How to make the top sites page appears when I open a new tab? Why have I not of "buttons" to pin a top site of the page tab?

When I open a new tab, NO best sites don't show up... shows just a search engine box. I have Firefox 33.0. Why is there no 'pin' button when I opened a new page? How to make the top sites page appears when I open a new tab?

Here is some additional information on the configuration of the new tab page:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter your favorite page:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked. Fixed?

    Some traps:

If Firefox will not let you change this setting: you can have what is called SearchProtect on your system.

Firefox if allows you to save your changes, but he doesn't know: one of your extensions may be the substitution of her. You can consult, disable and/or remove extensions on the addons page:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons > in the left column click on Extensions

If the modification works during your session, but during the next startup is leads to: you could have a user.js file in your personal settings Firefox (your Firefox profile folder). This article describes how to track down and delete the file: How to fix preferences that will not save.

    A little luck?

  • If I have a small Firefox page I can not open a NEW page. He let me just open a new tab on the reduced page

If I have a small Firefox page I can not open a NEW page. He let me just open a new tab on the reduced page. I used to be able to open a new page in browser icon on my desktop, but for these last days, it won't let me. It is a desktop computer, running Windows 7. Everything is up-to-date.

Hi Deb, it's hard for me to test it personally because I've pinned the shortcut of Firefox to the taskbar, which changes its behavior, and when I remove it, I don't fit my desktop icon. (?!)

Anyway, as a temporary workaround solution while we sort out this point, you can use the 'Skip' list: right click on the Firefox icon in the task bar and choose 'Open a new fenΩtre' that should certainly generate a separate window and not only a new tab in the existing window. Normally works?

Firefox has a hidden setting that you might try to change to see if it makes a difference. Normally, when you open a link in another program, it opens in a new tab in the last window of Firefox, that you used. Your what's doing? I propose changing the setting so that the link must open in a new window to see if it has an impact on this problem.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the filter box, type or paste link.o and make a pause so that the list is filtered.

    (3) double-click the preference browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external and set its value to 2 and click OK.

The possible values for this preference are as follows:

-1 = follow your settings in the Options for new tabs vs new windows (default)
3 = open external links in a new tab in the last active window
2 = open external links in a new window
1 = open external links in the last active tab replaces the current page

There are a few other similar named preferences, so be sure to change one that has 'external' in the name.

    Any difference?

A new window opens by default with the homepage.

    See:

  • I have century link for my internet and they put sort of a Qwest tab that opens every time I open firefox. How can I get rid of him?

I downloaded a link that Qwest offered to do my upgrade to 10 GB soft windows. After that download is when the additional tab Qwest appeared. It is not listed as my home page and I deleted the download but I still get the tab everytime I open Firefox and I want to get rid of it.

If the page does not appear when you call a new window (Ctrl + n) or click on the Home button, it could be incorporated into the shortcut you use to start Firefox. You can check a shortcut from the desktop/taskbar changed as follows:

    • Shortcut on the desktop: right-click on the icon, choose Properties
    • Icon taskbar pinned: clic click right on the icon, right click in Mozilla Firefox, click on properties

Windows normally selects the shortcut tab. If this is not the case, go ahead and click on the shortcut tab.

The target line do not need anything after this part:

    • Windows 64-bit, standard 32-bit Firefox: "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla.
    • Windows 64-bit, 64-bit Firefox test: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
    • 32-bit Windows: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

If all URLS are listed after this, claire them and save your changes. To test, you can:

    • Shortcut on the desktop: double-click the icon to launch a new window
    • Icon taskbar pinned: right-click on the icon, click Mozilla Firefox to open a new window

If you get only your homepage, it worked.
