If you have created a reset before disk or you can log on as "Administrator", you can follow the steps detailed in this Document Microsoft Online:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/321305

... If you actually cannot log on as an administrator or if you do not actually create a reset disk in the past then, unfortunately, you would be well advised to reinstall the operating system as there is no mechanism in place to recover a lost password. This, of course, is normal for a good reason.

I can't get into my itunes.  I tried to reinstall it and it takes me only so far and I get a message saying that I have Quick time.  When I try to update of Quick time or reinstall it I do not do.  I really need help!  I tried to get a phone number for itunes and it's impossible.

You must ask in the forums of Apple's iTunes. You can Google for them. This has nothing to do with installation, upgrading, activation of Windows XP.

I get the following error message 'The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded' when I try to go to firefox home. I uninstalled modules, uninstalled Firefox and then install a new version. Still have the problem.
    Thanks for the help

This problem may be caused by a corrupt installation of Visual C++ or incomplete (several versions can be installed-by-side; SxS) it lacks certain runtime components (redistributable Packages), which depends on Firefox (problem with an embedded manifest file that specifies a specific runtime version).

You need to install the missing components (for example, Redistrbutable end 2005 ++).

    Hey stevecook3dw,

Please test and see if you get the same error message when it is started in safe mode. After the test, if you do not receive the error message, you can run clean boot to test which causes this error.

    Step 1: Safe Mode

For safe mode, see the steps in the article below.

Start your computer in Mode safe:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Step 2: Perform the clean boot

Please see this article for detailed information on how to do it.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: Ensure that you switch your computer to normal startup mode after completing the troubleshooting steps. Steps are available in the article above.

HI Maria/Winston.Not, trying to be coy but. I've never had close the firewall to load anything. It will be, or at least should invite you to make a choice to leave the program to run or not? Nevertheless. If you have windows activation hurt you firewall can reactivate manually without going through the bugs that you can not. If you click Start and choose the runtime application. Type cmd, and then press ENTER. When the command prompt box appears type "netsh winsock reset" without the quotes. He'll say firewall reactivated and ask for a reboot. Restart the computer and it will be active again. Just trying to help.

    Hi Winston/Hewlit,

Thank you both for your advice.
While waiting for your answers, I pushed all sorts of buttons and downloaded all kinds of programs in the hope that I could break the firewall (Hewlit the printer I tried to install says to disable the firewall to install the printer, and then turn it back on?).
After a reboot, the message 'corrupt windows\system32 etc' file came and asked me to put in the original disc of Windows XP, I did not.
Cut a long story short, I have now booked for a technician to come out as I'm totally lost.
    Thanks again for your help,
    M

What you say seems very strange. Let's drill a little further:

    1. Click on the globe to start, type three letters cmd and press ENTER.
    2. Type the following commands EXACTLY as they are and press ENTER after each one:
      MD C:\Logs
      Set Log=C:\Logs\Log.txt
      NET user "user %%nom" > Log %

      Copy Journal % c:\Users\Bob 1% > Log % 2 > & 1
      cacls c:\Users\Bob > Log %
      Notepad % log
    3. Mark, copy and paste the text into your response.
