Get the message you need permission to perform this action

Original title: wlsetup.exe

Cannot delete the Installer "wlsetup.exe. Message "you need permission to perform this action"and loops on this error message. What 'permission' I need. It is a single laptop user and obviously I have administrator privileges.

Thank you very much for your response and the trouble taken.
I discovered what the problem was. wlsetup was actually being run. I stopped the process (ctrl > alt.del) and then deleted the program. Worked well.
Ridicule me.

I have download a web reader Cacaoweb & recently just found out it doesn't work anymore. One day the internet browser has become impossible to connect to the server. I tried to re-downloaded the software for about 5 times. It's run & install the software in the download files folder. I want to remove the files, but I received a message like this:

You need permission to perform this action.

Permission? I am the owner of the laptop, the only Director & the only one using it. I don't understand what I need to do? I tried searching in the uninstall section program control panel but I can't find the name of Cacaoweb inside.

  • you need permission to perform this action message appears when the saved copy of records of previous installation driver.

I just picked up a faulty installation of windows 7 and I am trying to copy my backup driver files of this installation in driver in System 32 files. Unfortunately, I can't cross the message I need permission to perform this action. I have the administrator account only on the computer that I use. but this does not seem to help any. Help, please? It would be greatly appreciated.

You must take possession of the car.

Right-click on the drive in Windows Explorer, select Properties, then the Security tab and give your user name a total control of the order.

  • Destination folder access denied. You need permission to perform this action.

OK, I'm absolutely sick freaking that. I am logged on as administrator, and there are some files that I can't remove everything. I get the message "Destination folder access denied you need permission to perform this action."

Why the hell do I need permission? I am an administrator and it's MY computer!

I tried to fix this for hours now, searching through the forums looking for answers, trying all the things that people give to think (as the change of ownership of the files - didn't work).

I tried to turn of UAC, but it tells me that I have to restart, which I do, but then when the computer turns UAC turns on again!

Gaaaah! It's driving me crazy - I'm trying to delete files and folders that I need not, they take up valuable space and they have nothing to do with the functioning of the system.

Now I know why everyone hates on Vista.

A lot of files and folders in Vista are unable even to administrators (unlike was the case with XP).  To remove a file, you need all rights to him and maybe same property (and these can be inherited from parent folders or their parent folders is not just a simple matter to change the permissions of the file - unless you remove the inheritance rights in the section advanced as well).  It has nothing to do with YOUR computer, it has to do with the protection of the system of files to be modified, moved, deleted or otherwise modified by people who do not really know what they're doing and causing significant damage. There are places called junction pointshttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb968829 (VS.85) .aspx which should NOT be accessed by anyone for any reason for example.  Now there are places in your own profile which you denied access.  That's how it works on Vista (and I don't think it's different in Windows 7).

If you think you should have access to delete the file and know that it will cause no harm, so some information here about obtaining permissions (you want full rights for yourself) and appropriate (not always required but sometimes useful).  Being the owner does not necessarily give you the permissions of all rights - sometimes, you need to do both.  Don't forget to go to the Advanced section to check the rights listed there as well as on the home page - they can block you all also if you don't fix them as well.

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista:http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/. To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To solve this problem with folders, folders takeownership or the reader (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html. To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

If this does not work, try to use one of the following free products to remove the file/folder.  Unlocker to: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Unlocker.shtml or file Assassin http://www.malwarebytes.org/fileassassin.php (with or without forcing the deletion: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/12/27/force-delete-cannot-delete-locked-or-in-used-files-or-folders-with-fileassassin/). These programs often work when the normal functions to remove Vista not work properly - but it helps if troubleshoot you permission first (even those programs may not work to override only).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

RUNDLL32. EXE is corrupt.  I downloaded a version of replacement.  Windows will not let me delete that or new copy to Windows/System32.  I tried all the solutions in these messages, but I don't get the names of permission change or remove this file.  I tried to change the permissions for this file, but I need permission to change permissions.   Help!

    Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
RUNDLL32. EXE will be used when you log on to the PC, so you can't change it. You can try it in Mode without failure. If that fails too, you can remove the hard drive from the PC, plug it into another PC and perform the copy operation.
Kindly, don't change any property or security of the file.

  • You need permission to perform this action via the network

Desktop is WIndows XP Professional 64-bit (the system where the file is stored)

Laptop is WIndows 7, 64-bit (the system that I use to try to open the file that is located on the desktop)

I put the folder shared Documents to share.  I can make a few files in the root folder, but nothing in the subfolders of this folder, I get this error message.  I don't like the idea of having to define all of these subfolders to share as there must be a better way to do it.  If there is a server operating system, it would be easy enough to do, but Windows XP Pro 64 - bit does not appear to be the type of security settings that I used to see when I'm in the middle of working with a file on the server with a windows server operating system.  Therefore, I have various questions:

Why this things should be much more difficult for users to be allowed to do things that it would be for corporations IT admins in the workplace?

How can I get my laptop in the office system user given the desks of users and groups don't even whether me to select the laptop to be able to draw users from?

How can I get all subfolders of a shared folder to be able to open the file by another user on the network?

I'm really sick and tired of having to deal with this issue and I don't feel every single document should be put directly in the shared folder or each unique subfolder must be configured as a shared folder.

  • When I try to copy the files from Windows Mail on Vista on a USB key I get the message "you are about to copy this file without its properties

I move the file from my old PC which took place with Vista on a new computer running with Win 10 where I have Windows Live Mail is installed.  When I try to copy the files from Windows Mail on Vista on a USB key I get the message "you are about to copy this file without its properties".  After studying this issue on the forums, a proposed solution was to reformat the drive in NTFS format, I did.  This does not solve the problem.  Any suggestions?  Would it be OK in this case to ignore the message and copy the file without its properties?

Well data files/user of vista should work. Yes a NTFS format is good, go to run, or cmd, type:

diskmgmt.msc in msc, R.click on the material, delete the partition, create one, format. Use the default settings,

Once thru, L.click the disk, go to actions, all, select 'enable '.

  • Just installed update for Windows Media Player 11 and now, all the songs I had in my library before the update, I get the message you need a license to play these songs.

These songs have been copied to my computer from the CD that I bought at retail, and have played several times.  Is there a process where they can be reinstated? I don't know if it's the right word, but I hate having to download individual licenses for these songs. And why doesn't IE throw me on the internet as soon as the download license screen happens?  Do I have to uninstall the update?

    Hello

    1. What is the exact error message you get?
    2. what version of Internet Explorer you are using?
    3. do you have an error message when Internet Explorer throws you off the screen?
    4. you remember the update that caused the problem to occur?

    This isn't a problem.
It's a design to prevent unauthorized users to perform certain tasks.
Installation and uninstallation are some of these tasks that require administrator rights.

If you are not an administrator, or you do not have an administrator password, you can not install or uninstall.
    Not another way around it.

  • In the mail app, if I try right click and open the attachments of the JPG files that I received, I get the message 'we are unable to open this file. You want to save and try to open with another application? »

I received an email with 3 accessories, 2 images and 1 PDF.  I am trying to open larger photos and I get the message, "we are unable to open this file.  You want to save and try to open with another application? »

Why can't click a picture in the mail app and have it launch a photo viewing application. ?

What you need to do is to go to control panel > programs > by default of the programs > set your default programs. Or search for programs by default, which must raise I have right as well (just start typing on the splash screen or slide from left to right and click on the search button). Go to the photos and select set this program as default. This fixed it for me.
